New TMNT Dorbz Vinyl Figures Coming From Funko This Fall

Ever since Nickelodeon reinvigorated the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise in 2012, it seems like every toy company on the planet has been trying to get a slice of their pizza. In the past few years, we’ve seen blind bags and vinyl figures from manufacturers as varied and interesting as Minimates and Loyal Subjects. Most of these figures have been quite well crafted, and they’ve all had their own creative designs which make them each unique. It would appear that this trend is going to continue as Funko plans to release a new line of TMNT Dorbz vinyl figures!

The Dorbz line is fairly new, and this is definitely one of the first times that we’ve seen the Ninja Turtles in this style. As you can probably tell from the design, the idea behind these vinyl toys is that they are absolutely adorable, hence the name “Dorbz.” This is one of their newer lines of toys, and it currently features characters from Marvel, DC Comics and other popular franchises. These vinyls are comparable to similar options on the market in every way but one – their cuteness factor. Dorbz vinyl toys are probably some of the cutest things you’ve ever seen!

With sweet smiling faces and a simple rounded design, these TMNT Dorbz are sure to be a hit with both young and old Ninja Turtles fans. The initial line will feature Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, Bebop and Rocksteady. If their strategy with other franchises is any indication, Funko may also be releasing Dorbz XL TMNT figures in the near future. As you might have guessed, the XL figures are much bigger than the traditional vinyl toys, measuring a full 6 inches in size. Unfortunately, there has been no announcement for the 6-inch variant just yet.

TMNT Dorbz are shaping up to be a cute and fun way to celebrate our heroes in a half shell. The attention to detail on these vinyl figures is particularly noticeable when you look closely at the Bebop and Rocksteady toys, which both have an excellent paint job and some very nice features here and there. For instance, Bebop’s earring is a nice touch that they could have just as easily left out to save a few pennies, but instead they elected to go the extra mile.

In addition to these toys hitting the market soon, a special variant will be made available for NYCC 2015. The NYCC Exclusive TMNT Dorbz will feature all four turtles in black and white with red masks, designed to look just like their counterparts in the original comic book series. As if you needed another reason to head out to NYCC, now you can get a really cool exclusive TMNT Funko set! Even if you can’t get these variants, keep your eyes peeled for the base set to hit stores either in late October or early November.

What do you think? Will you be picking up some of these TMNT Dorbz for yourself, or are you more interested in the Playmates TMNT toys? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

My name is Justin Wren and I love to write about the TMNT! I've been a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan since the late 80's. Back then, I would watch the original animated series and play with the Playmates toys all the time. I have been following the boys ever since I was a kid, and I'm very happy to see them back in the limelight after all these years. Needless to say, I'm proud to be a member of the team on this awesome TMNT Fan Site!
