The TMNT Are Once Again Finalists For the National Toy Hall of Fame

After three consecutive years of recognition, it’s pretty clear that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are bound to wind up in the Hall of Fame eventually. Will this be the year that they finally make it in? For the third year in a row, the TMNT have been chosen as one of the twelve finalists for induction into the National Toy Hall of Fame. Needless to say, it is truly an honor to be given the opportunity so frequently.

To be fair, it’s not difficult to see why the Ninja Turtles would be up for consideration. After almost 30 years of success in the market, Playmates and other companies continue to produce some of the most innovative and creative toys in the world. In the 80’s, Playmates was actually providing design ideas for play things that ended up in the original TMNT animated series. It’s not every day that a toy maker has such a profound effect on the franchise they are working with.

Even though TMNT toys have only been around for a few decades, they’ve left an indelible mark on the entire industry that is worthy of recognition. Unfortunately, the Ninja Turtles are up against some fierce competition this year. Notable play things such as the coloring book, the scooter and wiffle ball are also finalists for induction into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2015. Many of these items are fairly important to toy history, and they would all be excellent choices for the Hall of Fame.

The Induction ceremony will be taking place on November 5th, 2015. With only a month to go, we’ll just have to wait and see if our heroes in a half shell can finally make history and earn a place at the National Toy Hall of Fame. Even if they don’t make it in this year, there’s always a chance that they’ll be finalists yet again in 2016.

With the amount of attention they have received in the past few years, I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to make the short list until they are finally inducted. What remains to be seen is just how long it will take for them to make it into the Hall of Fame.
