TMNT Toys on Walmart’s List of Top 25 Holiday Gifts

Despite losing shelf space to Star Wars late last year and losing ground in theaters this summer, it would appear that our heroes in a half shell will still rule the toy aisles this holiday season. According to Walmart, two TMNT toys will be among the 25 most popular gift items for kids this winter. How did they determine this? Well, they brought in a bunch of children and let them play with a bunch of action figures and play sets until the most trendy items were determined. Many of the children who took part in this marketing test preferred playing with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mega Lair Playset and the Remote Control Skateboarding Mikey!

When you take a look at these TMNT toys, it’s not difficult to see why they would be popular. The Mega Lair Playset gives kids a lot of space to play with their Ninja Turtles toys and the Skateboarding Mikey is one of the coolest RC toys we’ve ever seen! Who wouldn’t want to see Michelangelo skateboarding around their neighborhood? Each toy has an MSRP of about $59.99, so although they are a bit more pricey than other holiday gifts, they aren’t too ridiculously expensive. Besides which, by the time the holidays role around, chances are that both of these items will be on sale for a much better price.

Although Star Wars toys are also featured in the list of the top 25 holiday gifts for kids, they aren’t exactly prominently featured. Given that there will be a new movie in the franchise coming out this winter, chances are that the turtles will still battle for shelf space. That being said, it looks like they might have two very popular toy items keeping them in the game for the time being. Whether you’re a young shellhead hoping to get these as gifts, or you’re a parent who wants to get your child the most awesome present possible, make sure to keep an eye out for both of these hot TMNT toys during the winter!

What do you think? Are these TMNT toys going to be as popular as Walmart has suggested? Do you want these toys for yourself? Which of them is your favorite? Share your thoughts and opinions either in the comments section below or via facebook/twitter.

My name is Justin Wren and I love to write about the TMNT! I've been a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan since the late 80's. Back then, I would watch the original animated series and play with the Playmates toys all the time. I have been following the boys ever since I was a kid, and I'm very happy to see them back in the limelight after all these years. Needless to say, I'm proud to be a member of the team on this awesome TMNT Fan Site!
