In the past few months, we’ve seen some fairly revealing interviews from the actors in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. When asked, all of them have said that they would love return for a third film, but none of them have suggested that this is actually going to happen. As a matter of fact, the language used seems to indicate that they haven’t received any calls about a sequel and there aren’t yet any plans for a third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. In a recent interview with The Sun, Stephen Amell gave a similar statement when asked about the future of the franchise.

“If we’re lucky enough to make a third one and they’re nice enough to ask me back, I will come.”

Amell is among good company, as both Brian Tee (Shredder) and Pete Ploszek (Leonardo) have said that they would love to return if given the chance. Unfortunately, this sequel is looking less likely as the months go by. Whereas Out of the Shadows was given the green light immediately after the release of the first film, it has been several months since the release of the second film and Paramount has yet to announce any plans for another movie in the franchise.

It’s nice to hear so many actors saying that they would love to return for another sequel, but at this point their words simply serve as evidence that the studio has yet to sign off on a third TMNT film. Although I’m sure that some fans would be happy to hear that Paramount and Platinum Dunes have no plans to continue their series, others are eagerly awaiting news of a sequel.

At this point, I’m guessing that Paramount’s recent struggles have kept them from moving forward with a lot of their projects. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows may not have been a runaway hit, but it didn’t necessarily do terribly in theaters, either. Thankfully, the studio is currently in the middle of a shakeup, and that could mean good things for the properties they are currently working with. There’s still a chance that we may see another TMNT film in this series, but it’s almost impossible to tell when they will announce any further plans for this franchise or what those plans will look like.

In addition to Amell’s comments about a potential sequel, he also discussed his experience on the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Considering that this was his first major motion picture, it’s interesting to note how he approached the film and what he thought about the process. If you want to learn more about how he approached the character of Casey Jones, make sure to check out the full interview from The Sun.

Are you still hopeful that Paramount will continue on with a third TMNT movie? Do you want to see Stephen Amell return as Casey Jones? What are your thoughts on this interview? Let us know your thoughts either in the comments below or on facebook/twitter.
