I know what you’re thinking: doesn’t Steve know when to quit? Well, the answer to that question is apparently no. After the somewhat unimpressive box office results of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, it is very unlikely that Paramount will produce a sequel to the movie. Regardless of that fact, Amell still welcomes the opportunity to reprise his role if and when such a project takes place. During a panel at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest, the actor yet again expressed interest in playing Casey Jones.
“I would love to do Turtles part three. I’d love to do more Casey Jones stuff. And I have a ton of really, really fun stories from the set, most of which include Will Arnett, and none of which I’m able to talk about right now. Will Arnett can say literally anything and its funny, whatever it is. I love Will. Canadian. Not an accident.”
To be fair, it’s not like he’s pining for the role. In this case, Stephen Amell has simply indicated that he would enjoy playing this character once again. It probably shouldn’t surprise anyone that he had a blast working with Will Arnett, as the comedic actor is well known for being very funny. Unfortunately for Amell, it is very unlikely that he will be given the chance to play Casey Jones again.
The problem isn’t that Amell failed to impress in this role, but rather that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows simply wasn’t successful enough to warrant a direct sequel. At this stage, it is far more likely that Paramount will reboot the franchise at some point in the next few years. Given their recent problems, it’s difficult to know exactly what their plans are for our heroes in a half shell, but I doubt that we will see the same actors make a return in any future TMNT projects.
