Good Smile Reveals Final Release Details For Shredder Statue

Earlier this year during SDCC 2016, Good Smile unveiled their plans to produce a few awesome new TMNT statues. Based on their advertisement, it was clear that they have plans for at least four figures based on villains from the franchise. They had two statues on display at Comic-con, one being none other than Shredder himself. Unfortunately, neither of them had received a paint job as of yet, so we were left to imagine what the final product would look like. Today, we finally have our first images of the fully painted Shredder statue, along with plenty of information about its eventual release.

To put it simply, I couldn’t have imagined that this Shredder statue would look so fantastic. Good Smile has really outdone themselves with this product, giving the Shredhead a really awesome paint job. A closer look reveals that they’ve used some nice metallic paint for the blades on his suit of armor, which really helps the figure stand out. I had a feeling that this would turn out awesome, but somehow they’ve managed to exceed even my expectations.

To be fair, I shouldn’t be too surprised, because Shredder’s design is actually based on the artwork of James Jean. Fans of Good Smile will immediately recognize this name, as he was the man behind an earlier set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles statues. As if the design weren’t reason enough to place your pre-order now, it looks like this might actually be a bit more affordable than some of the other TMNT collectibles currently on the market. At a price of 14,815 Yen, this figure will only set you back about $141. Good Smile has also announced that their Shredder statue will be officially released in April of 2017.

Next up in their line of villainous TMNT statues will be none other than Bebop, and I can’t wait to see what they manage to pull off with his character. We’ll keep you informed on the progress of this TMNT collectible line as information is revealed over the next few months.

Do you like what Good Smile has done with their Shredder statue? Will you be purchasing this collectible once it is released next year? Let us know your thoughts and plans either in the comments below or on facebook/twitter.

My name is Justin Wren and I love to write about the TMNT! I've been a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan since the late 80's. Back then, I would watch the original animated series and play with the Playmates toys all the time. I have been following the boys ever since I was a kid, and I'm very happy to see them back in the limelight after all these years. Needless to say, I'm proud to be a member of the team on this awesome TMNT Fan Site!
