The Speculation Behind A New TMNT Video Game

Is there a new TMNT video game in the works? There very well might be. This week, new images surfaced, which appear to reveal an IDW-inspired Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game:
At the end of November, Gematsu discovered a Brazilian rating entry for a new video game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan. The rating classification designated this alleged game a Mature (M) rating, being developed by Platinum Games and published by Activision. It is likely that the game would be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
Earlier this week, Xbox ‘Watchdog’ Twitter user @lifelower allegedly uncovered the new game’s box art, which can be seen above. The box art appears to be drawn by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artist, Mateus Santolouco, who is one of the main IDW artist for the ongoing TMNT comic book series. Santolouco has not indicated publicly whether or not the is behind the artwork.
There has been no formal confirmation that the game actually exists, and if it does, it is also unknown whether the gameplay would feature a similar artistic style to the cover artwork. However, Activision recently published Transformers: Devastation, which contained a very similar artistic style.
There have been a number of Ninja Turtles video games over time, but there have been no games published for the current PS4/Xbox One generation. The more recent games have received controversial reviews, so this may be an opportunity for the franchise to redeem itself by diving into the video game market. Furthering the rumor, some speculate that the game’s supposed release will coincide with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows movie, releasing June 3, 2016.
January 4th edit: A recent alleged leak of the complete trophy/achievement list has also leaked for the game, which can be found here.
