Baby Ninja Turtles Coming to Nickelodeon

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have had some interesting characterizations over the years, with their most recent design change coming in the form of the Half-Shell Heroes: Blast to the Past special. In this iteration of the TMNT, the brilliant minds at Nickelodeon opted for a return to traditional two dimensional animation with an undeniably cute design. If this latest teaser image is any indication, we can expect to see even more adorable and traditionally animated Ninja Turtles from Nick in the near future.

In a post made on Instagram last week, producer/writer Brandon Auman shared an image of his latest work with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, and it definitely looks promising. The image shows three baby mutant turtles without their weapons or bandanas, indicating that this will be some sort of call back to their origin. What remains to be seen is whether or not this traditionally animated segment will show up in the main TMNT series or some other Ninja Turtles show. Auman was not able to share any more details on the project at this time, but the image alone definitely has fans curious.

The way I see it, there are a few possibilities. For instance, this could just be from a small flashback moment in the main series, or it could be part of an entirely new TMNT animated series on Nickelodeon. If Half-Shell Heroes: Blast to the Past was successful enough, there’s definitely a possibility that Nick decided to turn the show into its own full series. If that’s the case, we could be seeing the beginning of the origin story as told in a brand new Half-Shell Heroes cartoon.

Alternatively, it’s also entirely possible that they are simply doing another Half-Shell Heroes special similar to Blast to the Past. With so many possibilities, it’s difficult to say for sure exactly what this image is trying to tell us. All we do know is that we have some cute baby TMNT characters coming our way in the near future. Thanks, Brandon! We can’t wait to see what comes of this awesome and adorable imagery!

My name is Justin Wren and I love to write about the TMNT! I've been a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan since the late 80's. Back then, I would watch the original animated series and play with the Playmates toys all the time. I have been following the boys ever since I was a kid, and I'm very happy to see them back in the limelight after all these years. Needless to say, I'm proud to be a member of the team on this awesome TMNT Fan Site!
