Over the past few years, Funko has been producing a rather popular toy line known as Pop Vinyl. Featuring characters from several areas of popular culture, these small toys have become well accepted by the toy collecting community for their affordability and ease of display. These are toys that are basically meant to be displayed on a shelf somewhere, and even in their own little individual boxes, they look quite good unopened and preserved for all of your guests to see. The line is intentionally simplistic and cute, with a style that appeals to fans of many different franchises. So what does 2013 hold in store for Funko’s beloved toy line? The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, of course!
It was recently revealed on Funkofanatic.com that there will be a TMNT Pop Vinyl line in 2013! The line will include Splinter, Shredder, Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael. There’s no word yet on whether these will be based on the new cartoon from Nickelodeon or a more retro version of the turtles, but one thing is for sure – you’re about to see one of the cutest renditions of Shredder that you’ve ever seen! With their characteristic dots for eyes, the new Pop Vinyl turtles are sure to please most, if not all fans. There’s no official word yet as to when the new line will show up on store shelves, but until then fans are speculating on the details of how they will look and which version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be used to inspire the toys.
As there are no official pictures of the line yet, one fan (user wolverinert68) took to creating his own Pop Vinyl custom toy to show what they feel may be close to the final product. Obviously it’s not entirely fitting with the over-all design of Funko’s popular toy line, but it’s close enough to give us some kind of idea of what to expect. Being that details are still so sparse about this particular line, chances are we won’t see it on store shelves until the latter half of 2013. That being said, at least we know we’ve got some cool and collectible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles merchandise to look forward to this year! Are you going to go out and collect all six? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

TRUE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s interesting to me that it took so long for this company to finally capitalize on the popularity of the Ninja Turtles. I mean, us fans have been here all along. But I am happy that the Tmnt IDW comic, the Ninja Turtle Movie buzz, and the new Nick cartoon has sparked some interest with in the realm of pop culture again. I’ve seen the Pop Vinyl toys and they are cool. I cant be more pleased about knowing that we will see the Turtles done in that fashion. My personal preference would be to see them tackle all the major Ninja Turtle incarnations starting with comic book style. But I know no matter what I’ll be shelling out cash of these guys!
You make an good point that it took major toy companies all this time to capitalize on the Ninja Turtles. The cool thing is that we will see these Ninja Turtle toys on desks of elderly people and younger generations. Pretty cool the turtles is in the hearts of many.
