If you thought NECA would run out of ideas after releasing a series of figures based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), it should be clear by now that this isn’t the case. Not only have they announced the release of two prop replicas, but they’ve also unveiled plans to produce a set of four baby turtles based on the film. As if that weren’t awesome enough, they’re also producing this amazing figure of Raphael in disguise.
Recently, NECA decided to release a set of images revealing the packaging for their Raphael in Disguise figure. Oddly enough, they opted to leave his hat off and package it alongside the figure. In addition to the trench coat Raphael is wearing, this collectible will also come with a set of sai, a backpack and a second pair of hands. This TMNT figure is currently available for pre-order at a price of $99.99 and it will be shipping in February of 2018.
Sharp-eyed fans will recognize this take on Raphael from his appearance during an important scene in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. For those who don’t remember, this was the outfit that Raph was wearing when he met Casey Jones and criticized his choice of weapon. “A Jose Canseco bat? Tell me you didn’t pay money for this.” Something tells me that TMNT fans would buy that bat today, and they’re almost certainly going to be interested in this awesome TMNT figure as well.
Although this would look perfectly fine in mint condition on your shelf, I’m almost positive that most fans are going to take this figure out of its packaging and display Raphael properly in his disguise. Maybe this release is a bit of a double dip, but it still manages to hit all the right nostalgic notes for fans like myself. I don’t know about you, but I’m very impressed with the latest product from NECA.
