NECA Reveals Official Packaging for Raphael in Disguise TMNT Figure

If you thought NECA would run out of ideas after releasing a series of figures based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), it should be clear by now that this isn’t the case. Not only have they announced the release of two prop replicas, but they’ve also unveiled plans to produce a set of four baby turtles based on the film. As if that weren’t awesome enough, they’re also producing this amazing figure of Raphael in disguise.

Recently, NECA decided to release a set of images revealing the packaging for their Raphael in Disguise figure. Oddly enough, they opted to leave his hat off and package it alongside the figure. In addition to the trench coat Raphael is wearing, this collectible will also come with a set of sai, a backpack and a second pair of hands. This TMNT figure is currently available for pre-order at a price of $99.99 and it will be shipping in February of 2018.

Sharp-eyed fans will recognize this take on Raphael from his appearance during an important scene in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. For those who don’t remember, this was the outfit that Raph was wearing when he met Casey Jones and criticized his choice of weapon. “A Jose Canseco bat? Tell me you didn’t pay money for this.” Something tells me that TMNT fans would buy that bat today, and they’re almost certainly going to be interested in this awesome TMNT figure as well.

Although this would look perfectly fine in mint condition on your shelf, I’m almost positive that most fans are going to take this figure out of its packaging and display Raphael properly in his disguise. Maybe this release is a bit of a double dip, but it still manages to hit all the right nostalgic notes for fans like myself. I don’t know about you, but I’m very impressed with the latest product from NECA.

NECA Reveals Details About Baby Turtles From 90’s TMNT Movies

Earlier this year, NECA unveiled their plans for a series of figures based on the baby turtles from the 90’s TMNT movies. At the time, they had yet to reveal any additional information about these collectibles, but the early images looked very promising. Now that they’ve had a few months to work on the product, additional details about pricing, release date and accessories have finally emerged.

Rather than splitting the baby turtles up and selling them individually, NECA has decided to sell all four in one set. This set of TMNT figures will include three accessories: a bag of chips, a pizza box (with four slices), and a turtle hand twirling nunchucks. The pizza box will apparently be big enough for at least one turtle to stand inside, so chances are that the chip bag will also be appropriately sized.

Now we come to the issue of price. Although NECA’s products are usually at least a little expensive, fans will probably be pretty happy to hear that they can pre-order this set of baby turtles right now for only $49.99. As if that news weren’t good enough, NECA has also revealed that these collectibles will be shipping in March of 2018. In just three short months, you’ll have the opportunity to get your hands on these awesome TMNT figures.

This announcement comes just a few months after NECA revealed their plan to release two pieces of memorabilia based on the 90’s TMNT movies – including a TCRI Mutagen Canister. This collectible is still available for pre-order and it would definitely make for a nice companion piece with the baby turtle figures. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty impressed with NECA’s plans for 2018!

NECA Announces 90’s TMNT Movie Prop Replicas

After the success of their 90’s TMNT movie figures, it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that NECA has decided to continue working with this property. Having said that, it might surprise some shellheads that they’ve decided to start making prop replicas from the film. This won’t be the first time the company has made a prop replica, but I’m sure the fans will appreciate these collectibles nonetheless.

The first two prop replicas will come in the form of a Casey Jones Mask and a TCRI Mutagen Canister. Although one of these items is perfect for display, the other can actually be worn. As if that weren’t cool enough, both of these collectibles will be available for a very reasonable price. The Casey Jones Mask is already available for pre-order at the price of $29.99 while the Mutagen Canister will be sold for $45.99. Both items are scheduled to ship in January of 2018.

If you’re like me, right about now you’re wishing that the mask was available before Halloween. There have been many imitators, but few companies have managed to accurately recreate the hockey mask used by Casey Jones. This incredible 90’s TMNT movie prop replica is the closest approximation of the actual mask that I have ever seen. Similar masks currently on the market are sold for between $10-$50 on average, so $29.99 for a film accurate mask is an incredible deal.

The TCRI Mutagen Canister is also very nice, and it actually glows green when you press a button. This added feature is likely one of the main reasons that the prop replica is going for a slightly higher price. The canister is 13″ long, so it’ll probably look very nice and stand out among your collection. We don’t yet know if NECA has any plans for future 90’s TMNT movie prop replicas, but something tells me they’ll definitely consider it if these items sell well.

NECA Plans Shredder and Foot Clan Figures Based on 90’s TMNT Movies

This probably won’t come as much of a surprise, but it’s looking like NECA has decided to continue working with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) property. Although they recently finished up their line of all four turtles from the film, some fans have been asking “where are the villains?” Thankfully, that question already appears to have been answered, as images recently leaked indicate that the popular toy company has plans to develop both Shredder and his Foot Clan in 2018.

Unfortunately, NECA has yet to release pictures of these figures. However, the signage used in a photo provided by a fellow shellhead suggests that these collectibles will in fact be based on the 1990 movie and they will be coming next year. I think it’s safe to say that this property has proven very valuable for the company. After all, they probably wouldn’t bother developing a set of action figures like this unless they had good reason to expect that they would sell.

Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo and Michelangelo are now all available to purchase for about $100 each. This may be a bit pricey for some, but considering the level of detail on these figures and the cost of similar items on the market, $100 is actually a very good deal. It looks like NECA will be using the same general scale for their Shredder and Foot Clan collectibles, so we can probably expect them to sell for a comparable price.

Sadly, we won’t be able to tell you anything else until NECA decides to reveal more details about these figures. Chances are that we can expect them to make an official announcement and provide teaser images at some point in the next 6 months, but I wouldn’t hold out hope for any additional information during 2017. For now, we’ll all just have to rest comfortably knowing that they are indeed working on a product that several fans have been asking to see.

NECA Shows Off Baby Turtle Figures From Original TMNT Movie

When Toy Fair 2017 rolled around, we figured that NECA would be showing off the latest TMNT figure from their most recent line of collectibles based on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Sure enough, they unveiled the final design for their Leonardo figure alongside Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello.

However, in addition to finishing up this particular line, they also unveiled the addition of four familiar baby turtles. Anyone who has seen the original movie will immediately recognize these little dudes as the turtles designed by Jim Henson to represent our heroes in a half-shell before they became teenagers.

As if it weren’t awesome enough to see these little dudes on display, they put all four of them right next to their much older counterparts to show the size comparison. Sure enough, these baby turtle figures are much smaller in comparison to NECA’s other collectibles, and that is absolutely by design.

The company wanted these turtles to look as small as they would have been in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, and it looks like they’ve managed an almost perfect recreation. If you thought it would be enough to get the four teenage turtles in this line, something tells me you’re now craving a little bit more for your TMNT collection.

NECA sure knows how to entice their fans, and this is one unexpected release that is sure to please most shellheads. Given the size, it’s not likely that these four baby turtle figures will be as expensive as their teenage counterparts. That being said, the level of detail on display with each of these collectibles suggests that they won’t necessarily be as cheap as something you’d see from Playmates Toys.

According to NECA, the Leonardo figure is already available for pre-order at several online retailers. We were under the impression that Mikey would be next to ship, but apparently they’ve elected to go with Leo instead. This TMNT figure is set for release in May of 2017. Just like the Donatello and Raphael figure, this one will run you about $100 on average.

Sadly, there’s no news yet on when we can expect to see the baby turtle figures hit store shelves, but we’ll keep you posted as these details are revealed. If I had to guess how much these TMNT collectibles will cost, I’d expect a price tag between $30-$50 each. Plan accordingly, fellow TMNT fans!
