How many art lovers do we have out there? I’m sure that there are a lot of Ninja Turtles fans who absolutely love artwork, because we’ve seen a lot of fan art from the fans over the past several years. Heck, someone just tweeted their Casey Jones/Raphael artwork to me earlier today, and it was absolutely fantastic. The point is, there are a lot of TMNT fans who absolutely love checking out the artistic vision that is inspired by this awesome franchise. With that in mind, I figured that you all should know about an awesome art show that will be taking place in San Diego on June 3rd.

Yes, they are doing a TMNT themed art show on the day that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will be released. This will be a one time event, and attendance will be free. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project will feature 100 pieces of art designed by several different artists for the cover of IDW’s 50th issue of the comic. These 100 covers were commissioned by the Hero Initiative, but the art show will also include 15 donations from co-creator Kevin Eastman himself. He’ll even be there to sketch two more cover variants live as the show is in progress!

If you live in the San Diego area and have the opportunity to attend the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project for yourself, it’s definitely worth the trip. After all, it’s not every day that you get to go to a free art show with hundreds of pieces devoted to the Ninja Turtles! Realistically speaking, a lot of fans will not be able to attend this event, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have access to all of this beautiful artwork. IDW will soon be publishing both a softcover and hardcover book filled with the artwork from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project. As if that weren’t awesome enough, all of the TMNT covers will be sold on eBay starting on June 14th.

With so many different opportunities to experience this project, art lovers and TMNT fanatics from all over the world will soon be enjoying plenty of new Ninja Turtles artwork very soon. If you are able to attend, head on down to the San Diego Comic Art Gallery on June 3rd at 6 PM for free admission to the event. Although it is free, donations are appreciated. The Hero Initiative is designed to help comic book creators in need, so any amount you donate will definitely be going to a good cause.
