DreamEx Reveals Plans For Awesome April O’Neil Figure

It seems like we hear about an incredible new set of TMNT figures at least once or twice a year. Unfortunately, some of the other characters attached to this franchise rarely ever get as much love as the turtles themselves. Thankfully, that appears to be changing with announcements such as NECA’s Dimension X Figures and this latest revelation from DreamEx. As you can see, they are currently working on a 1/6th scale figure of everybody’s favorite reporter, April O’Neil.

Complete with yellow jumpsuit, it’s clear that DreamEx has gone for a more traditional approach with this April O’Neil figure. After the way some fans reacted to Megan Fox, I’d have to say that this was probably a very wise decision. In addition to her suit, this collectible also includes several accessories such as her press pass, a handheld camera and a microphone. The figure also includes a second head with a gag over April’s face.

To be honest, this seems like a somewhat strange decision, because most people are going to display the figure rather than play with it. I don’t know why anyone would want to display April O’Neil bound and gagged, but that appears to be an option with this collectible. Although I may find it a bit disturbing to focus on this aspect of her character, April O’Neil was captured and held hostage quite frequently during the original animated series, so it’s not like the addition of this accessory is out of place.

Oddities aside, I have to say that this April O’Neil figure looks absolutely fantastic. Fans of the Channel 6 reporter will probably be very pleased with the results. Sadly, we don’t yet know how much the figure will cost or when it will be released. Similar items from DreamEX (such as their Shredder figure) have carried a price tag between $200-$250 on average, so you can probably expect a similar cost for this one.

Will you be purchasing this April O’Neil figure? Has DreamEx hit it out of the park again, or are some of their design choices questionable? Share your thoughts either in the comments below or on Facebook/Twitter.

My name is Justin Wren and I love to write about the TMNT! I've been a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan since the late 80's. Back then, I would watch the original animated series and play with the Playmates toys all the time. I have been following the boys ever since I was a kid, and I'm very happy to see them back in the limelight after all these years. Needless to say, I'm proud to be a member of the team on this awesome TMNT Fan Site!
