John Oliver Gives Yankees Tickets to Two Ninja Turtles

It’s spring time again, which means that baseball bats are once again in full swing at ballparks all across the United States. Oddly enough, amid all of the excitement that comes with the beginning of the MLB season, one of the top stories in sports has been the appearance of two Ninja Turtles behind the plate at a New York Yankees game.

Okay, so they aren’t actually Ninja Turtles, but they are a couple of guys dressed as Donatello and Michelangelo. So what are these two doing in such coveted seats? Well, apparently John Oliver put them there.

For those who aren’t aware, John Oliver is a comedian and host of the HBO series Last Week Tonight. Although his show is primarily focused on pointing out political mishaps, he also likes to poke fun at the rich and powerful people of the world from time to time.

In this case, he did a segment pointing out how the New York Yankees were supposedly trying to keep a certain element (i.e. poor people) out of their exclusive seats directly behind home plate. In defiance of this concept, Oliver decided to offer tickets to two people who would perfectly exemplify the type of audience that the Yankees didn’t necessarily want sitting in that location.

Who better to fit that role than a couple of crime fighting ninjas who just so happen to live in the sewer?

As a result of his gamble, the whole world got to see a couple of brightly colored Ninja Turtles sitting directly behind all of the action taking place in the first few games of the season. Being that the cameras are always focusing on this area in the stands thanks to their framing of the pitcher and hitter, this meant that fans would be seeing the boys in green during pretty much every moment of the game.

Needless to say, this was a fairly humorous experience, and it will be interesting to see what John Oliver has to say about the event. Whatever happens, I guess this proves that no seats are too good for any fan – especially if they just so happen to be dressed as Ninja Turtles.
