Ideas For TMNT Pumpkin Carving This Halloween

by Justin W

Over the past few years, fans have been carving up some pretty awesome Ninja Turtles inspired Pumpkins to celebrate Halloween. Although all of these projects required a lot of creative effort, some are obviously going to be easier to accomplish than others. Not everyone knows how to program an Arduino to change the color of light that a Jack-O-Lantern displays, but most of us can carve a pumpkin and add a few finishing touches. With that in mind, here are a few ideas to help you add some Cowabunga to your spooky festivities!

Paint a Mikey-O-Lantern

Pumpkins are naturally orange, and so is Mikey’s mask. With a few simple steps, you can make a Mikey-O-Lantern using little more than some green paint and a knife. Simply cut out the eyes and use the paint to cover up every part of the pumpkin except for his mask. If you want to get a little more creative, you can either cut out a mouth or paint it on, as depicted in the two pictures below. Fans of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might also want to consider adding a few dark green freckles to each cheek, completing the illusion!

Make Your Halloween Green

If you’d prefer to make a Jack-O-Lantern that doesn’t look like Michelangelo, you could always just paint the entire pumpkin. Start with a base coat of green paint and continue on with blue, purple, and/or red paints in order to recreate your favorite Ninja Turtles. As you can see in the image below, a few small touches of white and black can also be added to accentuate the eyes and mouth. Who says every pumpkin needs to be carved? It can be just as much fun to create colorful representations of your favorite TMNT characters without ever picking up a knife!

Go For a Traditional Carve

If you want to use more traditional methods to carve a TMNT pumpkin, there are actually quite a few possibilities. There are several patterns available online that you can print out and use as a trace for your Jack-O-Lantern, but many of them will require a careful hand in order to carve appropriately. With that in mind, parents may want to make sure that they help with the more difficult carving projects in order to ensure a safe and fun Halloween project.
