Rise of the TMNT Sneak Peek Coming to Las Vegas Licensing Expo

Given the popularity of their crossover episode from last season, it shouldn't come as too big of a surprise that Nickelodeon has invested in the 2D animated Rise of the TMNT. Image Source: Nickelodeon.

For most fans, news like this isn’t going to make much of a difference. After all, how many shellheads are going to head out to a licensing expo? These types of events specifically cater to industry experts who are considering partnership with brands and companies. That being said, it’s still very nice to hear that Nickelodeon already has a sneak peek ready for Rise of the TMNT.

Although I’m sure this will mostly consist of logos and perhaps a few pieces of concept art, it would be huge if any images of this artwork were leaked in the near future. We still don’t know exactly what the new 2D animated series is going to look like, so it would be nice to see even one conceptual drawing. Several fans have speculated about the potential design of this cartoon, but Nickelodeon themselves have yet to reveal any such details.

According to Toy World Magazine, that is all about to change at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo which takes place in just two weeks. There’s no telling whether or not anyone will manage to post some images from this event online, but there’s definitely a possibility. After all, images from a similar event provided our first look at a logo which confirmed that Usagi Yojimbo would be making a return to the franchise.

I'm sure most shellheads will miss this interpretation of our heroes in a half shell, but there's always a possibility that Rise of the TMNT will be just as good -- if not better! Image Source: Nickelodeon.

For those who aren’t aware, Rise of the TMNT is Nickelodeon’s new Ninja Turtles cartoon. The television show is scheduled to air in 2018, replacing their current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Several fans have voiced their disapproval of this decision, but others are embracing the potential represented by this change of pace. Heck, Kevin Eastman himself has indicated that we have nothing to fear and the fans are going to absolutely love this new take on the turtles.

Unfortunately, until we learn more about this show, almost everything we write will be pure speculation. Here’s hoping that this event provides us with a little something extra to get excited about!

Are you hopeful that we’ll finally get to see what Rise of the TMNT is going to look like? Share your thoughts either in the comments below or on Facebook/Twitter.

They need to put out another Half-Shell heroes movie. My 5 year old son love the first one and has been asking when the next cartoon will arrive?

That’s very true. I was looking forward to more of those. I was hoping it would be something of a limited series type of thing.

I’m honestly hoping they bring the same voice actors into this new version. They’re perfect! And yes, that means Seth Green to all the haters out there. But that’s just me, I liked him as Leonardo. Just keep Greg Cipes as Mikey and hell, I’ll probably watch it either way lol.

SOMEONE PLEASE LEAK!!!!! I’m probably one of the biggest fans of the current series. It’s mostly what got me into TMNT in the first place. But I can say that 5 seasons is a satisfying number, and it’s been a fantastic journey having watched this series from the very beginning. It’s one of my all-time favorite cartoons, and it will always be near to my heart.
That being said I have complete faith in the crew behind Rise. I’m looking forward to experiencing a whole new take on the TMNT, and the 2D animation style has me excited. So, in conclusion I am whole-heartedly in favor of Rise, while 2k12 will always be remembered fondly.
