Turtley Awesome Videos: Nostalgic and Shellraising Action

It’s been a while since we’ve done a TAV post, so we figured it was about time to bring them back for 2018! This time around, we managed to find three interesting videos related to our heroes in a half shell. No matter where you look, there’s always a chance that you’ll find someone who was inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If you look closely, you’ll probably see some of that inspiration in each of the videos below!

Mick Foley Interrupts TMNT Wrestling Match

 

During the Paradise City Comic-con, Florida Super Cosplay Wrestling put on a pretty interesting show for the audience. One event saw Casey Jones and April O’Neil taking on none other than Neegan from The Walking Dead. Just as it appeared that Neegan was about to win the match, famous WWE star Mick Foley appeared out of nowhere and used his trademark friend Socko to lend a hand to April and Casey. Was the whole thing incredibly cheesy and somewhat poorly acted? Sure, but it was still a lot of fun to watch!

The Mad Gear Performs Tunes From Turtles in Time

 

There are few things more nostalgic than the music from Turtles in Time. Recently, The Mad Gear decided to do a cover of just one song from this popular TMNT game. Needless to say, they did a pretty amazing job! In this video, you’ll get to see the live studio recording of their cover while reliving memories of the time you almost beat this awesome title. Just try not to get shellshocked this time, eh?

TMNT Production Coordinator Talks Video Games

 

Melvin Young is the production coordinator for Rise of the TMNT. He also worked on Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In this video, Melvin discusses how important video games have been in his life and some of the lessons he has learned while playing them. His overall message is incredibly positive, and I couldn’t help but to be inspired by his approach to work and life. If you know anyone who thinks video games are a waste of time, show them this video and give them a different perspective to consider.

Turtley Awesome Videos Straight From Nickelodeon

It’s not every day that we can feature content created for the fans by Nickelodeon. Thankfully, they have been cranking out some pretty awesome TMNT vids as of late. This time around, we’ve got an interesting selection showing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in an entirely new light. It’s nice to see how much effort Nick has been putting into their side projects, and we definitely want to support their work. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some bizarre and entertaining Ninja Turtles videos!

TMNT Summer Shorts: Team Up!

Before anyone asks, no – this is probably not what Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is going to look like. That being said, it’s worth noting that this 2D take on the turtles is definitely a lot of fun to watch. If the name is any indication, we might even see more of these before the summer ends. Believe it or not, this short is based on the original animated series and it features a lot of references to that show. Whether you’re a fan of the 80’s cartoon or Nickelodeon’s 2k12 series, chances are that you’ll find something to laugh about in this turtley awesome video.

Planet Nick TMNT Documentary

Have you ever wondered what a nature documentary about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would look like? Probably not, but Nickelodeon made it happen anyways! Complete with British narrator, this short gives us a closer look at the day-to-day lives of our heroes in a half shell. Sure, the video basically just provides a rundown of information that most of us already know, but it’s still a fun watch. Of course, if you want to see a legitimate documentary about the turtles, we recommend Turtle Power!

The Mikey and Mikey Show

As some of you may recall, Greg Cipes himself actually mentioned this turtley awesome video series in an interview he gave at Wondercon 2017. There are at least a dozen videos in this series so far, and most of them are pretty darn funny. There’s no continuity order to the vids, so you can watch them in whichever order you wish. Each episode is only 30 seconds in length, so it shouldn’t take too long to plow through all of them at your own leisure.

Turtley Awesome Videos: Innovative and Fun TMNT Creations

It’s that time of the month again! The past few weeks have seen some rather interesting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles videos hit the web, and we wanted to make sure that everyone had the opportunity to check them out. With that in mind, it’s time for another collection of turtley awesome videos! This time around, the theme is innovative creations; whether it be an amazing animatic or a Mario Paint project that took several months to complete, there’s plenty of creativity on display in these TMNT videos.

Talk To Me Mikey Review

This is a toy that has kinda flown under the radar, but something tells me that a lot of fans are going to dig it. The last I saw of Talk To Me Mikey, none other than Greg Cipes was playing with the TMNT toy during a comic-con panel. Speaking of Cipes, he actually provided the voice work for every single response that this toy is capable of saying! Sadly, as Pixel Dan points out, this definitely isn’t intended for adults. Talk To Me Mikey is designed to hear and respond to the voices of children, so older fans might have a more difficult time talking to him. That being said, if you’ve got any young shellheads in the family, this could be a pretty cool gift for the holidays!

TMNT ’87 Intro Animated With Mario Paint

If you’re familiar with Cinemassacre, chances are that you know all about Mike Matei. He’s one of the head honchos behind the company, and he’s a huge TMNT fan. Don’t believe me? Well, he just spent several months recreating the intro from the original animated series using nothing but Mario Paint! This was no easy task, as the animation process on this video game is fairly rudimentary and does not allow for the level of detail that was necessary to complete the project. That being said, Matei still managed to get the job done in style, and he even finished the video off by explaining his methods.

Splinter Training Session Animatic

Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has proven to be one of the most faithful adaptations of the franchise that we have ever seen. Every now and then, Nick even goes to the trouble of sharing some of the artwork that went into creating the popular cartoon. This time around, they’ve chosen to share an animatic/storyboard from the show that features Master Splinter training his turtley awesome students. If you’ve ever wanted to see what goes into the creation of just one scene from an episode, this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the incredibly creative work from the minds of Ciro Nieli and Brandon Auman.

Turtley Awesome Videos: Out of the Shadows Revised

As the release date for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Blu-ray and DVD grows nearer, quite a few popular Youtube channels are releasing content related to the film. Some of these videos go so far as to revise how the movie ended, while others simply show us how the movie would look if it were an 8-bit game. One of the videos even features the vocal talent of everyone’s favorite turtles fan, Andre Meadows (Black Nerd Comedy). Whether you liked the movie or not, chances are that you’ll find something to enjoy about this selection of turtley awesome videos!

How Out of the Shadows Should Have Ended

Before you click on the video above, please understand that there are some suggestive adult themes. If you’re not already familiar with this channel, How It Should Have Ended creates videos that provide a different take on typically controversial films. It’s difficult to get more controversial than this latest series of TMNT movies, so of course HISHE decided to make their own ending for Out of the Shadows. Whether you liked this sequel or not, the commentary inherent in this vid is sure to elicit a chuckle.

After all, isn’t it a little hypocritical that we don’t get to see much violence in these movies, but there are sexual themes liberally spread throughout? If the goal is to avoid warping young minds, the approach that Paramount and Platinum Dunes have taken in the past few years is far from perfect. This video takes hilarious aim at the filmmakers and questions the methods we currently use to handle censorship in our society. Do yourself a favor and check out how Out of the Shadows should have ended. Oh, and keep your ears open for a familiar voice!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows – 8-Bit Cinema

Do you long for the days of classic 8-bit TMNT video games? Well, I certainly do! Of course, I don’t know if I’d want Konami handling the franchise in their current state, but it would be nice to see some retro turtle action on modern consoles. Thankfully, the Cinefix channel feels the same way about retro gaming, and they often combine the best graphics of yesteryear with modern films in order to give us a taste of what a movie tie-in would look like.

This may be a bit of a harsh statement, but there’s something about their take on Out of the Shadows that I find infinitely more appealing than what we got from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan! If you enjoyed this summer’s movie a bit more than the game, this video will definitely hit all the right notes.

Talking Action Movies With Donatello

If all of these animated videos aren’t really your style, perhaps you should check out the interview that Cinefix had with Jeremy Howard! For those who are not aware, Howard portrayed the character of Donatello in both the 2014 film and Out of the Shadows. During this interview, he talks with two film buffs about his favorite action movies and how the film industry has changed since the age of the blockbuster. This discussion was actually a lot more interesting and informative than you might expect.

When Howard explains that a Spielberg movie like Jaws wouldn’t have the same staying power today as it did back in the 70’s, he reveals how the idea of a blockbuster film has been significantly altered since then. A lot of people think we’re still living in an era of blockbuster films, but the reality is that most films – even the big money makers – typically don’t bust the blocks for as long as they used to. Turtley Awesome Videos: TMNT Sock Puppets and Rapping Turtles

Every now and then we like to feature a few totally radical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles videos on the site in a series we call Turtley Awesome Videos. It’s once again time to explore the depths of the TMNT fandom to find some interesting and unexpected treasures. This time around, we’ve found several oddities that are quite entertaining, including a fan produced animated tale and a sock puppet video from Nickelodeon themselves. Without further ado, let’s take a look at these interesting vids!

Raph Likes The Beastie Boys

Meet Futureman. He’s dressed up like a Ninja Turtle and performing the song Intergalactic by The Beastie Boys. If this all sounds confusing, allow me to provide further explanation. Futureman Gaming is a channel on Twitch.tv.

This guy plays video games for large audiences several days a week and even works with the Twitch staff to produce awesome content. In this video, he’s performing one of his favorite songs for donations to a worthy charity. Yes, there actually is a reason that this exists, and it did actually benefit people in need.

TMNT Sock Puppets Take on Pizza

A few months ago, Nickelodeon decided to release their very own fan-style Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video. This time around, they went with a sock puppet theater sketch featuring Master Splinter along with all four turtles and an evil pizza.

This Ninja Turtles video is absolutely hilarious, and the voices are actually provided by the actors who portray each character in Nick’s TMNT series. You’ll probably enjoy this vid if you’ve been getting a kick out of the latest iteration of the Ninja Turtles. Stick around for the ending to see how they chose to represent the Shredder himself!

Donnie Becomes a Monster

Talk about a true fan project! This animated feature was crafted by a fan of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, using the basic design and characterization of each turtle as a basis for the story. Even the tale itself feels like something you would see in an episode of the animated series, hearkening back to when Donnie got turned into a Hot Rod.

I don’t want to give too much away, but suffice it to say that this is an excellent work of fanfiction that deserves your attention. Make sure to watch both the first and second parts in order to get as much of the story as possible. I don’t know about you, but I certainly hope that this creator continues to work on this Monster series!
