DreamEX Provides Closer Look At Raphael and Leonardo Figures

Not to be outdone by competition from NECA, DreamEX has decided to provide some nice promotional images for two of their latest TMNT figures. Last week, NECA revealed their Raphael figure based on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) movie, and this week their competitors have decided to up the ante. All four of these Ninja Turtles collectibles were originally revealed a few months ago, but we haven’t gotten a closer look at any of them until now.

Although these two TMNT figures aren’t necessarily based on any one iteration of the turtles, they do look quite nice. It’s also worth noting that they will apparently come with a few interesting accessories including pizza, throwing stars, and a communicator based on the design from the original animated series. Unlike NECA’s latest series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) figures, these collector’s items combine elements from several different versions of the franchise.

The details on these TMNT figures are quite nice, and you can tell that DreamEX has a profound love for both the Mirage comics and the original animated series. That being said, something tells me that a lot of shellheads would prefer to pick up NECA’s latest line instead. As nice as these Raphael and Leonardo figures are, a lot of fans are feeling nostalgic for a specific kind of TMNT product, and I’m wondering whether or not they will be interested in these collectibles.

One of the other problems with these TMNT figures is that they will likely come with a higher price tag than those produced by their competitors. Earlier this year, DreamEX announced that both their Shredder and Casey Jones figures would be sold at a price point of about $200 each. Given the amount of accessories included with their Leonardo and Raphael figures, chances are that we will see each turtle sold at around the same price.

In comparison, NECA intends to sell their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) figures for half that price. Not only are their TMNT collectibles potentially more desirable, but they are also much cheaper. To be fair, we have seen far more expensive TMNT figures put on the market in the last few years, so both DreamEX and NECA are doing far better by the fans than some of their competitors.

Ultimately, DreamEX appears to be going after an entirely different group of shellheads with this product. I hope that they find an audience for these collectibles, because they are quite nice and reasonably priced. Whatever comes of this, TMNT fans everywhere win, because we get to check out some of the most amazing Ninja Turtles merchandise that has ever been made.

What do you think? Will you be picking up these DreamEX TMNT figures when they come out? Are these Raphael and Leonardo figures better than the Donny and Raph figures from NECA’s latest line? Share your thoughts and opinions either in the comments below or on facebook/twitter.
