Summer 2016 is shaping up to be one of the biggest TMNT summers of all time. Between video games, comics, and a new movie, what niche was left unexplored? For board game lovers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Dice Masters is there to fulfill your tabletop needs:
TMNT: Dice Masters
You may remember our original post last summer explaining that WizKids had acquired the rights to create a some TMNT-themed tabletop games. TMNT: Dice Masters is a 2-4 player dice building game featuring all of your favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters and drawn in the spirit of the 1980s cartoon and the Mirage comic book series.
There is an informative rulebook included in the game if you are new to Dice Masters, but here is a general overview. The game is stacked with character cards, who all have different abilities and moves. In order to play those moves, you have to roll the corresponding dice and roll an appropriate dice combination. The game cannot be played as a single player, but can be both fun and competitive in groups.
The game was designed by Mike Elliott and Eric M. Lang and unlike other dice games of this genre, this box set includes everything the game has to offer, so no need looking for booster packs or additional rare items. You can buy it all in one swoop. However, if you are a long-time fan of Dice Masters, you will be happy to hear that the TMNT items in the game can be incorporated into other builds from other renditions of the game.
The contents of Dice Masters are featured in the picture below, but the highlights include:
- 44 Custom Dice
- 38 Cards
- Two Dice Bags
- Complete Dice Masters Core Rulebook
Players also have the option of purchasing additional Dice Bags ($14.99) as well as a Playmat ($19.99), but these are not necessary to play. The recommended age for this game is 14+ and a typical game time will like be around 1 hour. There are a variety of retailers selling the base box set for MSRP $34.99, which is a solid price if you’re looking to add another TMNT game to your collection and try something new. For more information about TMNT: Dice Masters, you can check out the WizKids website.
