First Look At The Shredder In Out Of The Shadows

by Justin W

In a surprise tweet yesterday, actor Brian Tee shared one of the first decent images of his take on The Shredder in the new movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. As has been previously noted, Tee’s Shredder appears to be a lot more true to the source material, as he is wearing realistic armor that could easily be used for practicing martial arts. Sadly, until now we haven’t quite known what his helmet would look like in this movie, as every picture of Tee in costume has been without the iconic Shredder mask. The great part about this newest image is that it finally reveals what that mask is going to look like in Out of the Shadows.

As you can see, this Shredder mask is perhaps a bit less dramatic than what we saw in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Considering how over-the-top that version of the infamous villain was, chances are that this design will actually be a welcome change for most fans. After all, there were quite a few people who said that Shredder looked and behaved like a Transformer in the first film, and they weren’t exactly wrong about that. It’s nice to see a version of the character that looks a little bit more realistic in this movie. I don’t know about you, but this is definitely getting me more psyched about Out of the Shadows!

In previous discussions about the character, Tee stated that this version of the villain was more “grounded in reality.” If this image is any indication, he wasn’t just feeding us a line. Personally, I would love to see a more realistic version of the Shredhead, if only because his persona in the 2014 TMNT movie was a little confusing. What do you think? Does this latest picture of The Shredder get you more excited for the new movie? Would you prefer to see a more realistic version of the villain, or did you like the version we already got in the first film? Let us know your thoughts either in the comments below or via facebook/twitter.

I noticed that to. he probably posted it on sunday which was when the KCA’s came out and you know, tmnt is owned by nickelodeon, so that’s probably why.

At the KCAs they had another sneak peek at TMNT2, so I think the pic was meant to coincide with that.
