Official Music Video For New Partners in Kryme Song ‘Rock The Half Shell’
Late in 2013, we discovered a leaked video from an event where Partners in Kryme performed a new song about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. At the time, the new movie hadn’t yet been released and there wasn’t much information about the music they were going to use in the film. We were curious whether or not this TMNT song would find its way into the new soundtrack, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Over a year later, the group has finally released the official music video on their Youtube channel to little fanfare, and that is definitely a Kryme.
Whereas the original leaked video was fairly poor quality and it was very difficult to actually hear the song, this music video is crystal clear and even features some rather memorable faces. In addition to seeing the lead member of Partners in Kryme himself, we also get to see the turtles, Andre the Black Nerd (from Black Nerd Comedy) and even Kevin Eastman make appearances as well. Obviously, the fans are perhaps the biggest stars of this video, and that’s exactly as it should be.
Although some fans may have forgotten this group, they will no doubt remember the catchy tune they wrote for the first film in 1990 – say it with me – T-U-R-T-L-E Power. If you were a TMNT fan in the 90’s, you probably wore out your CD or cassette tape of the soundtrack just listening to that one song over and over again. Not only was Turtle Power memorable and catchy, but it was also one of the best theme songs about our favorite heroes in a half shell.
It’s been roughly 25 years since that song was released, and there’s no better time than now to release a new song about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With a musical track that is based heavily on Rock the Casbah by The Clash, Rock The Half Shell is a love letter to the turtles that should not be missed. If you saw the original leaked video, do yourself a favor and check out the official music video for Rock the Half Shell below. Keep your eyes peeled for those special guests, and listen closely for references that all the shellheads will appreciate.
