A few weeks ago, we brought you the news that Mondo would be producing some pretty awesome TMNT toys. What we didn’t know was that they would also be releasing a set of four new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles posters inspired by our heroes in a half shell. All four posters feature artwork done by four different artists, and they are all incredibly awesome. Sadly, all four posters are also sold out already, as they only had a limited print run. That being said, it’s still cool to take a look at some of the great artwork that fans have created, and I’m sure if they did a second run that we’d all be digging through our wallets and pocketbooks to find the money we need to pick these up!
The first poster, created by Tom Whalen, looks like a movie poster for the Ninja Turtles movie we’ve all been wanting to see. Featuring The Shredder with his minions Bebop and Rocksteady behind him, this is one turtley awesome TMNT poster. The artwork is clearly based on the original animated series, and is sure to bring back a lot of memories for long time fans.
The second poster was crafted by Rich Kelley, and features a more asian inspired take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This artwork seems to be based more on the Ninja Turtles from the original movies that came out in the 90’s. Not only is Shredder wearing a mask and costume that looks like the one from the movies, but the turtles themselves are very much based on those particular characterizations. With a title card that reads like a Japanese scroll, this is definitely some interesting artwork.
The third poster takes a wildly different approach, as JC Richard chose to create more of a scene than an actual movie poster. Featuring The Shredder coming out of the Technodrome with the Ninja Turtles preparing to fight off a legion of Foot Soldiers, this artwork is definitely exciting. Although it is dark and quite unnerving, just knowing that the TMNT are getting ready for a huge battle in this artwork is enough to make any fan wish that they could see the aftermath.
Finally, the fourth poster takes a complete departure from the first three, as Andrew Kolb presents us with a truly artistic take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Although it still looks somewhat like a movie poster, the design features very unique takes on the Ninja Turtles. All four are wearing the red bandanas you would find in the comics, and all four have some kind of hieroglyphic-style artwork on their shells, with each section containing its own comic panel of action. This is honestly my favorite of the bunch, because there is so much going on in the artwork and it really shows some love for Nickelodeon’s TMNT series.
What do you think? If Mondo decided to do another print run of these posters, would you pick one up? If so, which one would you pick? Keep on the lookout for their TMNT toys and tell us what you think of these great Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles posters in the comments below.
