Scotty G September 6, 2014 - 12:39 pm

I’ve created an in depth power point analysis as to how I possess the qualities of all 4 ninja turtles! I’ve seen every single TMNT movie multiple times since I was young and by doing so I use it as an excuse to say I know how to karate.

jade September 6, 2014 - 12:39 pm

I am a nerd because I have watched the tmnt since they first game out. I am 32 and still wear tmnt shirts and socks. I love the tmnt!!!!!

Marisa September 6, 2014 - 12:41 pm

I begin planning my years activities ( megacon, comic con, Halloween horror nights and all awesome movie releases in October of the year prior too. Star Wars is on my calendar for December 2015. I also quote movie lines and phrases in my Presidents Messages for my paralegal association.

Chris Vance September 6, 2014 - 12:42 pm

I have been a tmnt nerd from the beginning. Im 34. An original black and white mirage comic was my first intro to the heroes in a half shell. Im a virtual turtles encyclopedia. I could recite the original movie from beginning to end. Ive seen/read/collected just about every incarnation of turtles.

Brian Hirt September 6, 2014 - 12:42 pm

I am a huge 31 year old nerd. I still frequent Toy R Us every week, and I still get toys like I’m a kid at Christmas. I just made a trip to Ikea to buy more shelving units to display my toy collection.

Turtle Power!

Brandon Keene September 6, 2014 - 12:45 pm

I have been a tmnt fan since the beginning. Love the old school turtles and like the new school ones. I own every turtle DVD and watch them more than any other movie. Did I mention my Raph tattoo which time and money will have the other turtles join him.

Patrick Dwyer September 6, 2014 - 12:45 pm

I’m 31 and live my childhood by drawing my favorite cartoons and comics. I am just a little kid in giant adult body like in Big.

Dave The Bearded Ninja Turtle September 6, 2014 - 12:47 pm

I might not be the biggest nerd, I’m a dude who appreciates a bunch of things. But the ninja turtles and comics are a big part of my life today. I have toys from the 90’s of the ninja turtles, all the classic seasons and movies on dvd/blu ray, and soon I’m getting a whole sleeve tattoo of the classic TMNT. I like the recreations of the other cartoons as well but nothing beats the classic 80’s cartoon, and the new movie war pretty good too. I hope I win this, the turtles have been with me since i can remember!

Jarrod84 September 6, 2014 - 12:48 pm

I was born May 5th 1984 the same day the original comic was released. I have thousands of turtle merch adorning my walls already. I have 1 long box and a small one full of turtle comics. I knew the daredevil backstory before most people. I’ve been into the turtles most of my life, even when they weren’t cool.

Adam Hasty September 6, 2014 - 12:53 pm

I’m Adam and I’m a big fun of the TMNT since I was a kid I also love super heroes, comics, manga, anime, mythology, video games, books, martial arts and Kaijus (GODZILLA!!!) I love Japan– I’m crazy about that place. I’ve never been, but I dream of going there one day.

Leslie Powell September 6, 2014 - 12:53 pm

Chris September 6, 2014 - 12:54 pm

A nerd to me is someone who is consumed by or extremely passionate( some would say obsessed) about something. By that definition, I AM a NERD because I never let go of the shows, toys or movies I once held so dear. It used to be a negative word, but what’s so nerdy about reliving great memories or being able to create new ones when you share your passion with someone new??

Chris ( Turtle Boy ) September 6, 2014 - 12:55 pm

I am a Nerd I grew up on The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I am still a fan. I am a 80s and 90s kid.

Mel September 6, 2014 - 12:55 pm

I am 35. I currently have/own a weeks worth of TMNT clothing from hat, shirts, boxers & socks that I occasionally wear. I frequently reminisce with my childhood friend Jami about how we used to role play ninja turtles as kids- using her basement as the sewer… I still have my TMNT toys, the old trading cards and the TMNT Out of Our Shells Pizza Hut Rock tour audio cassette…I’ve watched the new movie on opening night & the following day. I own all the other TMNT movies & have watched the documentary twice on the making of the TMNT…

Douglas Glen Allen September 6, 2014 - 12:56 pm

I am a true TMNT nerd 🙂 I love everything that has to do with the ninja turtles. Of course Donnie is my absolute favorite ninja turtle of them all! For Halloween I have even bought a ninja turtle dress and my son last year went as Leo! My little boy is a diehard fan just like his mommy and we would both love to win this prize! Thank you so much for this chance!

tabooksign September 6, 2014 - 1:17 pm

I’m a TMNT fan since the first tv show series in the ’80s. The best season to me is the first one. The other seasons during this period of TMNT had started to get cheesy, but when they brought out the 2003 series I loved them even better, especially the way they were drawn. The 2012 series seems to me that it’s geared towards kids, but it’s ok.

Ashley Turner September 6, 2014 - 1:22 pm

I have loved the TMNT since the 80’s!! I own all the movies and I make a point to DVR the new shows! My favorite Turtle is Leonardo. I even had a crush on him as a kid!

Tiffany LaPierre September 6, 2014 - 1:24 pm

I wrote this for my Creative Non-fiction assignment in Creative Writing during the spring 2014
semester. This is how big a nerd I am. And I’m telling you, I feel no shame. And I got an A.

My Turtles

My childhood can be summed up with one word: Turtles. The Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles was not the only thing that made my childhood amazing. I have a loving
family. But as far as my memory can reach back the Ninja Turtles have just
always been there. I didn’t know that anything could be so all-consuming until
I watched that gnarly 1987 cartoon. I don’t remember the first time I watched
it, but I think I was five years old. All I remember is that they were there,
four heroes in a half shell. I had turtle fever in the late 80’s and 90’s
something fierce. There were other incredibly amazing cartoons: Thunder Cats,
GI Joe, Transformers, Duck Tales, and The Smurfs, along with many others. But
none of them were The Ninja Turtles. I was in love.

I remember when my sister and I would play Ninja Turtles in our yard with the neighborhood boys when we lived on Woodier Street. They would always try to make us be April and Irma, the girls, because girls need to be rescued. We were never April and Irma. The boys quickly learned that we were
not playing with them, they were playing with us. I was always Raphael, cool
but rude, the one who wears red with his twin sai and snarky jokes. He was my
favorite and still is. My sister would always be Michelangelo, the party dude
in orange (although I sometimes think its yellow) with his own innocent flavor
of humor and a master of the nunchucks. The boys were always forced to be someone
else. When we played, the evil Shredder and his foot ninja were invisible,
naturally. We would take our makeshift weapons and swing them through the air. I
would be armed with my sharpened bark for sai, light but rough in my palms. My
sister would use whatever we were able to tie together to make nunchucks,
usually sticks tied with yarn. To anyone watching we were a bunch of kids
kicking and punching at nothing, but, to us, we were saving the city from the
Shredder. It was a fight over life and death. A very serious matter.

I remember that for Christmas one year my sister and I got a heavy, wooden toy box with the Ninja Turtles painted on it. On each side there was a different picture depicting the Turtles, April, or Beebop and Rocksteady. The corners were lined with brass, or maybe stainless steel, I’m not entirely
sure anymore but it was one or the other. We were so excited. When we opened
the toy box, lifting its heavy lid, we found it was full of Ninja Turtle action
figures and accessories. We were giddy with excitement, unable to stay still
like children sometimes get. The lid was incredibly heavy for our child arms
and there wasn’t anything to prop it open. There were countless times that the
lid would come crashing down on my little fingers. They would throb hot with
pain, but I wouldn’t care because it was a Ninja Turtle toy box full of Ninja
Turtle toys. On the days that my sister and I were not at each other’s throat
we would take turns holding the lid up so we can get our toys out.

One of my favorite toys was a Raphael plushie doll. I
can’t remember where I got it from, probably from a birthday or Christmas. I
can’t remember if it came with the toy box. It could have, the toy box was full
of Ninja Turtle toys. But it was mine; I knew it was mine because it was
Raphael. My sister liked Mikey. It was soft and bright green and red. I
remember sleeping with it all the time. The fuzzy green plush would creep over
his eyes and I would always slide my finger across the smooth plastic and push
the fabric back. But somewhere along the way it just disappeared. I no longer
had it. I always remembered that plushie and I got another one on my 30th
birthday. I was so excited when I opened the Amazon package and saw the gently
used Raphael staring up at me with the plush fabric creeping over his eyes.
Just like he used to be. He has a permanent place on my bed.

When I was 8 years old I saw the first live action Ninja
Turtles movie. We didn’t see it in the theater. I remember we got the VHS tape.
I was so excited that I didn’t know what to do with myself so I sucked on my
arm. I sucked on my arm so much that I left a mark. I don’t know why I did
that, but I did. I could barely breathe so I could barely think. I remember
that we would sometimes visit my Aunt Sherry’s parent’s house, and they had a
HUGE television in their basement. I had never seen a television that big
before. My sister and I would push the stools together and pretend it was a
movie theater. I know we would watch other movies there, but the only movie I
ever remember watching on that huge television was the first live action Ninja
Turtle movie. The movie wasn’t like the cartoon. It threw me off. They were the
Ninja Turtles but they were not my Ninja Turtles. Raphael was different. He wasn’t the snarky, sarcastic, funny turtle like he was in the cartoon. The movie Raphael was aggressive and angry,
and full of teenage angst that I just didn’t understand at 8 years old. It’s
not that I didn’t like this new Raphael, he was still my favorite. He just
wasn’t my Raphael. My Raphael would sooner insult you than punch you.

What I always loved about Raphael was that he would
constantly crack jokes, and every once in a while he’d tell a joke then look at
me, like he was talking to me. None of the other turtles would do that, at least not as often. Looking back I think I would have been a big fan of Dora the Explorer.

The year my son was born was the first year I had ever
seen the Ninja Turtles in the theaters. I don’t remember seeing the other movies
in the theaters before then. The excitement that I felt was that overpowering,
all-consuming excitement that I remember as a child watching the cartoon on
Saturday morning and seeing that toy box for the first time. I rocked back and
forth in the seat impatiently waiting through the movie trailers just to see
the opening scene. The world faded away and I was five again, shoving popcorn
in my mouth and licking the greasy butter off my fingers. The experience was
second only to the birth of my son for the year. But I remember thinking while
I watched my beloved turtles on the big screen that I couldn’t wait to share them
with my little guy.

Then one morning about two years ago my son and I were
watching television when a commercial for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
cartoon on Nickelodeon was advertised. My eyes went wide and my lips split into
a wide grin. My son turned to me, my grin on his face. He didn’t know who the
Ninja Turtles were yet. I had been so consumed with raising my son that the
turtles had faded away for those five years, collecting dust in the far reaches
of my heart. But here they were again like old friends. The excitement I felt
building inside of me, rising from my stomach, could be seen radiating from my
son. They were not my Turtles, of course. My Turtles are from the 1987 cartoon
with all of its gnarly cheesiness. His turtles are computer graphic and
serious, taking on the personalities of their movie and comic book counterparts,
yet keeping the childlike humor fresh. My Raphael is cool but rude. His Raphael is
aggressive, angry, and full of teenage angst that my son doesn’t quite
understand yet.

At the end of Spring Break my friend showed me a minute and a half long movie
trailer on Youtube. He made it full screen on his computer so I couldn’t tell
what it was. Epic music began to play and the words “Nickelodeon” and “Michael
Bay” appeared on the screen seconds later. And I knew what I was watching. I
had been waiting for the trailer for a year and here it was: the new Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle movie. My excitement bubbled over and I gripped his HP laptop
tight in an attempt to contain it. I would like to say that I held my composure
when Leonardo flipped onto the screen and landed in front of April O’Neil on
the edge of a building. I would like to say that I kept my inner fangirl in
check. But I didn’t. She exploded outward in the form of a high pitched squeal
accompanied with much kicking of the feet. Not my most dignified moment when my
friend had to steady his computer. The second my son came home I showed him the
trailer. I saw the excitement wash over his face and heard the giggles burst
out while kicking his feet. “When can we see it?” were the first words out of
his mouth. In August, we have to wait until August.

Now we watch the Ninja Turtles every Saturday morning sitting on the living room
floor, he eating his Cinnamon Toast Crunch and orange juice, and me with my
Lucky Charms and morning coffee, usually a breakfast blend. We wait each week
anxious for a new episode, anxious for the new movie, and while we wait for his turtles I introduce him to my turtles. To that goofy looking 1987 cartoon with their “radical dude!” and “Cowabunga!” Although he enjoys our time together, while I’m high on nostalgia, he still prefers his turtles and their
“booyakasha!” And like when I was five, I find myself once again looking forward
to Saturday mornings with my son, whose favorite turtle is Raphael.

Ernest Hendrix September 6, 2014 - 1:24 pm

AliceLovesChes September 6, 2014 - 2:00 pm

What makes me a nerd is my passion and knowledge for items and trends of the past. And even as new reboots pop up, I try to learn about them and accept them, for example the new Ninja Turtle movie VS the original turtles. Being a nerd is a personality unlike others, it is a show of love without being afraid of others judging you.

Victor Martinez September 6, 2014 - 4:03 pm

what truly makes me a nerd is that I have things people want for example I have the first spider-man issue and of course ninja turtle action figures, backpack, posters, movies, comic books, and of course the video game. I also realized that I spent pretty much all of my collage fund on random things that are way awesome like Dragon ball z figures and ninja turtle t-shirts. And pretty much people judge me they think that im a man child though im 15, I pretty much do not care about peoples thoughts or judgement over me ,telling me to change, yeah right like that will ever happen. one thing I do like is that I LOVE BEING A TURTLE and nothing wont stop me nor other fans of ninja turtles who grew up watching the 80’s or the 2003 or the recent ones no matter what adult, teens, and kids will always be part of the Ninja Turtles community for life till we die cause we shall and we would and we can represent TURTLE POWER!!!!!!!!!
Thank for reading
sincerely,Victor M. Martinez
BIG NINJA TURTLE FAN SINCE 2000

Marvin Ferrell September 6, 2014 - 4:11 pm

I am a true nerd because I actually own Eastman and Laird’s black and white turtle comics from back in the day. I cried when shredder beats splinter in the movie. When we played turtles I was actually Raphael (when we left the lair) and Splinter (at home).I own original tmnt action figures. We didn’t sleep until tmnt on Nintendo was beat. I was once locked in an arcade over night playing tmnt and I noticed when they opened the next day. Kevin Eastman is a demigod. When they said the turtles would be aliens and not mutants I started trying to find Michael Bey. I own an Usagio Jimbo action figure. I found this contest. I spent 20 minutes on this comment.

Anson Manson September 7, 2014 - 12:50 am

Bobby Spivey September 6, 2014 - 4:23 pm

I would consider myself an ultimate nerd. Not only have I been playing video games since I was born (30 now). I also have watched every ninja turtles show and well… just check out some of my collection of ninja turtles memorabilia. I play any kind of game. Love cartoons and get super excited every time E3 comes around. So much so that I have to book time off work to watch the conferences.

Shawn Taft September 6, 2014 - 6:02 pm

My love for the turtles goes all the way back to the beginning with the comics, I have followed them ever since. I even watched the original cartoon so much that I *still* have all the episodes memorized. I have seen all the movies (even #3…the worst lol). Even had the CD for the Coming out of their shells tour! People have told me to grow up but you can never outgrow the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Jesse Sutton September 6, 2014 - 6:21 pm

I eat breath and dream the turtles I spend most of my free time watching turtle cartoons and reading the comics. Anytime there is a new turtles thing I make it a point to consume every bit of it. I love all of my fandoms whole heartedly to the point of nausea to those around me I consume all the knowledge I collect all things donatello whenever I come a crossed it. I wear all of my nerdiness on my chest and have it tattooed on my sleeves. Turtles have been a life long obsession of mine so much so that I pick my music based on stuff I think would work with comics I went to art school to learn how to draw and paint better do I could one day make a living drawing the turtles. These are the things that truly make me a nerd and an epic turtles fan.

Ralph Valentine September 6, 2014 - 6:27 pm

When I was a kid, at the top of my list of shows to watch was TMNT. The 80’s ones. Of course it was on VHS and DVD cause well I’m not that old. But when the new movie was announced I was all aboard! The real reason I like TMNT is because my name is Raphael and I’ve always felt a connection to him. Hopefully these pics will emphasize my feelings towards TMNT.

Ralph Valentine September 6, 2014 - 6:29 pm

The Photos are to big.

sean September 6, 2014 - 6:41 pm

I love any cartoon that’s cool and has good animation, voices, and production, such as all 3 TMNT shows. I’m obsessed with electronics and computers. I live off of music and video games, especially retro games from before or around the time I was born. I grew up watching I Dream of Genie, The Munsters, Happy Days, and Bewitched. I’m also a “hardcore Brony.” I’ve seen various movies and tv shows countless times, especially ones I grew up with. My knowledge of things in this world is big and ever increasing each day. I’m constantly collecting items related to tv shows and video games that I love, especially the Archie Sonic The Hedgehog comics. I can go on, but I’d turn this comment into an essay.

Brandon September 6, 2014 - 6:51 pm

I am such a nerd for The teenage mutant ninja turtles. Once I went to comic con dressed as Leonardo and cowabungad mostly everybody. I still have the vhs of the turtles from burger king and whenever there is Tmnt merchandise I have to get it. I always think about the turtles I used to go on the bus when I was a kid reading the original Tmnt comics mostly everyday until there was a new issue until it would rip I would totally be amazed If I win. Plus I tried to be a ninja turtle when I was a kid and failed also I watched this new TNT movie at least 7 times because I absolutely loved it.

Ralph Valentine September 6, 2014 - 7:14 pm

I just plain old love the turtles. I was a tom boy growing up and I would save my money and go to garage sales and buy turtles. In college I worked at a toy store and bought the complete set of them characters and all. I wear a turtle shirt to work on super hero day and have the I phone case and lanyard. I read the comics and my son also is now a turtle fanatic. I am a nerd and I love it!

Sarah Roudabush September 6, 2014 - 9:09 pm

I’ve been a TMNT fan since I was 3 years old (about 25 years ago!!). One of my earliest memories is sitting in my parent’s living room and watching the 1987 cartoon episode where the Turtles shrink from that alien crystal. As an adult, I cosplay as Donatello to comic cons and share the love with my 3 year old son. My office at work is full of Turtle stuff…notepads, pens, pencils, coffee mugs, water bottles, tote bags…everyone I work with compliments my office because I made it so out of the ordinary. Love my ninjas! <3

Diego Campos September 6, 2014 - 10:06 pm

Pati Orellana September 6, 2014 - 10:26 pm

I hold no embarrassment for my love of turtles and love getting into in-depth discussions about the different canons. I own dozens of tmnt VOLUMES, not just comics. I also have successfully managed to get my niece into them by re-enforcing their awesomeness since her birth. And lastly, as you can see in the photo, my body is ready.

I first fell under the TMNT trance in the 80s as a kid. I had NES games, dozens of VHS tapes, action figures, comic books, I even had the cassette tape from the concert I attended in NYC on their Coming Out Of Their Shells Tour. I had the logo tattooed on my leg several years ago and now both my kids are also hardcore fans. My son has TMNT pajamas, bed set, dinnerware, action figures, costumes, etc., and my daughter loves them too. We arent just nerds, we are ninja turtle junkies.

I still have all my original toys and have a room upstairs totally dedicated to them! I plan to pass them on to my nieces. I also have a tribal tattoo dedicated to the TMNT.

Lauren September 6, 2014 - 11:32 pm

Well….. I’ve seen every episode of tmnt from all 3 series (minus the ones that havent come out yet in the 2012 series) I’ve seen every tmnt movie and have a couple tmnt lego things. I have 2 pairs of tmnt pyjamas XD and shows i like other than tmnt are sherlock and doctor who. My favorite subject in school is science and i’ve read/written fanfictions on tmnt… if i’m not nerdy, i have no idea what nerdy is~~

Mari Morales-Velez September 6, 2014 - 11:43 pm

During a meeting when I worked at a virgin mega store, to show how much we know about pop culture and movies we were asked what our favorite movie of all time was. We had to say it out loud in front of everyone, I said the teenage mutant ninja turtles movie. T^T I seriously didn’t think I was being a super nerd when I said it until everyone immediately started laughing at me. Oh well still my favorite. ^_^

Anson Manson September 7, 2014 - 12:34 am

I’d have to say that I’m the ultimate TMNT nerd! I have loved and followed the turtles from their earliest incarnation in the b&w comics. I have most of their comics from the 80’s to recent, more TMNT toys than most kids, all the movies on VHS and Dvd, pajamas, t – shirts, masks, various signed collectibles, posters, paintings, wallets, graphic novels, hats, and even boxers lol. I have been drawing TMNT for over 20yrs now (for fun) and do so any chance I get. I even got my wife and 10 yr old daughter into the turtles. If u ask any of my friends what my favorite things are, they will definitely mention ninja turtles. I also own basically every TMNT video game from NES to PS3. And lastly, my first tattoo is going to be the 4 turtles in the pose from the graphic novel #2 from 1987. Long live TMNT!!!!

We are from New Zealand and my son has every single toy you have here that we can buy. He’s seen all the cartoons. Seen the old movies and the newest. He also has all new TMNT toys. He knows all the words and choreography for the cartoons. My son is 5 years old and his room is painted TMNT colours with TMNT everything everywhere LOL

Barry September 7, 2014 - 5:55 pm

I am also from New Zealand, I have all the Nickelodeon Playmate toys except the lair. I have seen all the 2003 series, and have all the Nickelideon series R4 dvds. My favourite turtle is Michelangelo.

Clerik Klynn September 7, 2014 - 3:11 am

I wish I could tell you what exactly makes me a nerd. I was born this way! I love all things comic book related! I’ve been a TMNT fan since the ’80’s! #nerdtillidie #cowabunga

Gene Nevermore Ahlstrom September 7, 2014 - 3:29 am

Me being a 31 year old man with more tmnt toys than most kids and running out of display room (which all get passed to my kids when I die lol) and wearing tmnt clothing at least 5 days a week just might make me a #nerd and If that doesn’t then me dressing up as a turtle at home with my 2 year old son definitely does!

Josie Hines September 7, 2014 - 9:21 am

Being a Nerd is Simply expressing what you love without caring what others think of it.

Malcom Thorne September 7, 2014 - 10:48 am

I’m thirty years old and dance and giggle when new tmnt toys arrive at my local stores….I’m a dude…

Larry Tesh September 7, 2014 - 1:07 pm

I share my love of tmnt with anyone I meet along with my lovely girlfriend. It awesome feeling all the way around for what this fandom does for me. Even when I get little great compliment for the shell shirts I wear or my tphone iPhone case my wallet too lol .Knowing that it not only puts a smile on my face but others as well It just makes me so happy to be apart of some thing so great from since I was a little kid. Today I’m really surprised and happy of how tmnt has grown over the years and still is also has made it to it’s 30th anniversary . Till the day i leave this earth i know I’ll still be one big nerdle and have shared with great people I might have met if our paths crossed and know that at the end of the day and times it was all and still is worth it ..

Jason Alan Michael September 7, 2014 - 1:32 pm

Before I would marry my wife, I made her memorize all the ninja Turtles. No Turtles, no marriage.

Tom Paquette September 7, 2014 - 2:55 pm

i have a walking closet of the ninja turtles, have 2 turtle shirts for every day of the week and i have a home made turtle shell coffee table!

Daisy September 7, 2014 - 2:57 pm

I guess you can call me a second generation TMNT fan. My dad watched the original 80’s cartoon as well read the comics. He shared with me the cartoons when I was very little but my earliest memory is watching the 90’s VHS movies that he and my mom purchased (my mom really LOVED the movies more than the cartoons) and that’s what first started my love for the Turtles. Later I showed those movies to my little sister right before the 2012 TMNT series began and she became the third generation TMNT fan (she’s 10 years younger than me and at 2012 she was 11). So you can say that being a shellhead literally runs in the family as well as being a geek since my parents also introduced me to many more fandoms which I’m still a part of to this day 😀

Roban Sairf September 7, 2014 - 2:59 pm

I still love this ish!! 🙂

Robert Moore September 7, 2014 - 3:03 pm

I grew up with the 80’s turtles. I watched all the shows, the movies, played all the video games, and I even went to the Coming Out of Their Shells Tour…Yes…You read that right, I was there. I now share my love of Turtles with my son.

shaunie September 7, 2014 - 3:10 pm

Would have to say that I am still reading school books although I do not have to.

Elia Limon September 7, 2014 - 4:27 pm

I am 49 years young and have watched TMNT’s since the 80’s with my now 30 year old son and now watch them with my 18 year old daughter. TMNT FAN FOR LIFE!

Ally Kootsillas September 7, 2014 - 6:39 pm

I am the only TMNT fan in my grade. I’ve seen all of the movies including the new one. When I was younger I watched the 2003 series and now I watch the Nickelodeon Turtles. I’m starting to watch the 80s series too. You know if you’re a nerd if your own siblings make fun of you for liking something no one else likes. I have two movies, one game, pajama pants, one app, and a beanie baby Donnie.

TMNTLover4Life September 7, 2014 - 7:47 pm

Honestly, I have no idea what makes me a nerd. It could be my shiny braces or the magnitude of my glasses. Maybe it’s the fact that I use the word magnitude. Maybe it’s my extreme knowledege of TMNT or my pure love for the turtles. You should’ve seen me when i went to go see the TMNT movie. I was so busy running down the hall and rushing my friends I almost knocked down a bunch of little kids.

Stephan White September 7, 2014 - 9:40 pm

ive watched and love the turtles since the 80’s still very much in love with them now which i have passed onto my son who loves TMNT just as much if not more than i do. So yeah nerd very much so but i dont care..TMNT is best! Cowabunga Dudes!

Official Ninja Master September 7, 2014 - 9:48 pm

I love TMNT I wish to win this prize cus I would like more TMNT stuff

Michael Trupiano September 7, 2014 - 10:34 pm

I have all of the ninja turtles that have ever been released on dvd. It takes up 2 book shelves. I was a fan from when I first saw them all those years ago when the first show premiered and have been since. I’ll be starting my third shelf of turtles dvds once the new movie is released. I’m also a big fan of the original transformers series, brave starr, M.A.S.K., Biker Mice From Mars, Doctor Who (with Paul McGann, the 8th Doctor, as my favorite of the Doctors), Tiny Toons, Firefly, Star Trek, Twin Peaks, as well as many other movies and series that many might make some consider me a nerd.

R.I.O.T. September 8, 2014 - 12:55 am

Yeah I’m in 30’s, my son is embarressed by how much I love the turtles. I took him to class and started talking to his class mates about the turtles… they don’t like talking to me anymore… Oh well, shellhead for life!!

Maria Divina Gamo September 8, 2014 - 1:52 am

I want to marry Raphael…hehehehe

George September 8, 2014 - 10:34 am

I have been and will always been a Shellhead for life! TMNT was the cornerstone for my childhood and was the main reason i took interest into martial arts. Go ninja Go ninja Go! LOL

Jeff Adoptante September 8, 2014 - 12:11 pm

I ordered a pizza and asked for M&Ms or any candies to put. It was a little embarrassing. But I’d do anything for Turtle Power! Buyakasha!

Johnny B September 8, 2014 - 3:54 pm

I have been a turtles fan since 1987. I watch the nickelodeon show at every opportunity. I bought my kids turtles toy throughout the years but still call them mine. Even when they thought they outgrew the turtles, I remained a fan until they came to their senses. COWABUNGA!!

Elfaryna Foo September 8, 2014 - 11:39 pm

Probably when I beg my best friend to watch tmnt with me. N she LOVED it! I also watched all the series of them. I plan to make crafts with tmnt deco. 😛 I use Mikey’s name when playing a vid games :D. I always keep the tmnt rack at the supermarkets in order so other fans can get the stuff easily (Even though I don’t work there). I listen to their theme song everyday. I wore my two tmnt shirts to school and even decorated my binder with tmnt pics. I drew them on the parking road with chalk (Washable obviously). I search tmnt giveaways for what? Bout a week? Coz I got school to deal with. I got my mom to buy tmnt snacks (gummies and yogurt) for my sis so I could keep the cups, packets and box! I wore a Leo costume to Halloween even though it was small (It was the last one they had!! 🙁 ). I taught my sis to say Ninja Turtles! She’s only 3 so Teenage Mutant is a hard one for her. I also got her hooked to it. YESH!! So now my sis knows that whenever she sees a ninja turtle, she’ll call me! Oh yeah, n my ringtone is the theme song. I’m now in progress in making a tmnt smoke bomb. Too bad my dad said it’s too dangerous so I’ll have to fill the egg shells up a little with purple salt/ flour. Idk.

Alice Sisilia Melo September 9, 2014 - 1:37 am

I have the social skill of a nerd 😐 Im an adult that still watches cartoons and plays video games. I dont care about gossips, celebrity, fashion, or whatever trend is on right now. Making friends is always an awkward and challenging situation.

Geoff D September 9, 2014 - 8:04 am

ive played with and enjoyed the turtles when they first broke out on tv in cartoon form way back in 1987.. and have kept buying more tmnt stuff throughout the years since

Janice Christensen-Dean September 9, 2014 - 8:05 am

I am nerd granny because I love games and love the turtles!

Jess Zingaslots Harrison September 9, 2014 - 8:07 am

What truly makes me a nerd, is that while I enjoy all of the same stuff as the rest of the posters here (TMNT, sci-fi, gaming, etc.) and all of the gear and toys related to it, the fact is that I think I’m cool and NOT a nerd. THAT is what truly makes me a nerd.

Kristen Beckcom September 9, 2014 - 8:08 am

What makes me a nerd? I sit at home and read or play games. I don’t care what other people think about me. I have more internet friends than real life friends.

Geoff D September 9, 2014 - 8:09 am

oh and i even have a nice lil costume too 😀

David Jarvis September 9, 2014 - 8:09 am

When I was a kid I worshipped yhe turtles! I had every toy I could get by saving all my pocket money!

Andrea Coor September 9, 2014 - 8:10 am

Life is a chance to apply movie quotes to all situations.

Leo Hunstiger September 9, 2014 - 8:11 am

I am a true nerd because while others can take their nerd off I can’t. Its perminately in my skin through the use of tattoo ink. One of my tattoos has leonardo fighting rocksteady.Theres no one else here or anywhere else for that matter that can lay claim to such an epic and sustainable tribute to all of our childhoods.

Bryce M. Jans September 9, 2014 - 8:12 am

My earliest memories of the Turtles besides watching them on t.v. as a cartoon with my uncle who passed away when I was younger- was that my uncle mike took me to see this show called “TMNT: coming out of their shells”. It was the arena spectacular. I still have the cassette tape. I remember shredder popping out and scaring me. High fives from Master Splinter, and trying to point April O’Neil in a safe direction to hide… Thinking that Shredder was actually going to take over the arena, and “booing” at him. Of course the Turtles won, and good always beats evil – But I have loved them since I was a kid, and that is just one of my fondest memories. I’d love an all Turtle box, It would be a great way to keep up my collection of turtle themed things- as well as keep up the memory of the great times I had with my uncle. If he were alive today, he’d of been excited for the latest movie and to see the turtles haven’t gone away in current generations. This would be the best ever. (Oh and for those unfamiliar with this stage show- you can check it out on youtube in parts, Ill warn you now, it was way cooler when you were 5 years old, but makes up for a great laugh on the early 90’s now). 🙂 I am 28 and I still love the turtles forever.

Bryce M. Jans September 9, 2014 - 8:15 am

What makes me a nerd is that to this day I still collect movie, musical, music, and other memorabilia. I memorize movie lines, and I quote them to friends. I play video games, and vedge out on netflix. I am just as much a nerd as the next one- except my glasses might be considered cooler than others. Buy hey I still have those think black frames too for reading books. Nerds had cool glasses- way before the hipsters ever did.

jmscar82 September 9, 2014 - 8:18 am

I am a true nerd because I use up my lunch breaks to go toy hunting at thrift stores. You never know when you will find gold at a thrift store.

Jenna Esposito September 9, 2014 - 8:20 am

My huge action figure collection is what mostly makes me a nerd

Pete "Turtle Fan" Rizkalla September 9, 2014 - 8:22 am

At first glance, I come off as a jock (because I’m a martial artist). But the only reason for that is because I was inspired to emulate the action in shows and movies from my childhood like Ninja Turtles, X-Men, Karate Kid, Dragon Ball Z and (of course) Street Fighter. I have been gaming since I was 2 with a catalog of more than 2,000 games, I got a huge comic collection (mostly TMNT comics… hint hint, wink wink), and I’m friends with a group of great, nerdy guys who all appreciate the same stuff!

Justin Lewis September 9, 2014 - 8:26 am

I am a nerd simply because my Mom says so!

justin September 9, 2014 - 8:28 am

I have an entire room dedicated to unopened toys, I am a member of the 501st legion and I make my family go to comic conventions

Denisse Benitez September 9, 2014 - 8:30 am

What makes me a nerd? Comic book collections, doctor who, my two tattoos linked to Zelda (navi, hylian script). My obsession with x men and ability to argue any point in regards to it. My love of TMNTs and I could probably fill this whole page with reasons why. But most of all, it’s my ability to be a nerd, embrace it, share it with the world and not care about how people judge me because I’m 29 and I still get excited over the new toys, movies, or cartoons.

April Vendetti September 9, 2014 - 8:31 am

I am a nerd because I still watch cartoons, collect toys, and go to conventions! I always rock my nerd shirts and memorize lines from shows.

Lina Herrera September 9, 2014 - 8:31 am

When I was little I used to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all the time with my sister.Over the years as our family grew and me and my sister had kids we shared Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The best part of this story is now my oldest niece now has children and they love tmnt. It’s this one thing that the whole family can share.

Mark Mendoza September 9, 2014 - 8:32 am

I am a true nerd because I love video games and the feeling of escaping reality. I often day dream of what it would be like either being a Space Pirate or a Knight in Medieval Times that have some sort of magic power. And also I rock my TMNT shirt whenever I can. I mean, I have other nerdy shirts too (Mega Man, Captain America, Superman, Flash…the list goes on).

bananacase September 9, 2014 - 8:33 am

I watched the original turtles (that old) and I know that many of our pop-faves are written by Chuck lorre too.

Other nerd things include MTG, knitting & crochet, LOTRO (mmo) , and dungeons and dragons in table top and neverwinter. Also, I AM GROOT

Grant Burton September 9, 2014 - 8:34 am

All you have to do to know that I am a nerd is to look at my “office”. There are legos, action figures, and comic books everywhere. My wife says I’m a big kid. I agree, I never grew up.

Mikel Ecks September 9, 2014 - 8:35 am

I don’t have a room full of Pop Vinyls or action figures, don’t get me wrong, I have my share, but I don’t think toys and stuff make you a nerd. I think when every conversation I have, whether it’s about politics or local sports, ends up being turned around and related to something like Star Wars, superheroes or cartoons, that makes me a nerd.

drewsifer8390 September 9, 2014 - 8:37 am

Not only does every shirt I own have a mash-up of at least two nerdy things and my closet crammed with every game console and tons of games and two bookshelves and a huge hutch covered with nerdy little nicknacks but I’m almo Sr t positive if I had an ex ray of my heart it’s 8-bit I am a nerd and I am proud

Nader Michael Hanna Al-Shaikh September 9, 2014 - 8:40 am

I’ve been a comic enthusiast since the age of 3, and I’ve been following the Turtles since they came out in tv in 87, you name it I either know it have it read it watched it or experienced it

Ben Saunders September 9, 2014 - 8:40 am

I’m a nerd because everything I do is done in the nerdiest ways possible. I enjoy superheroes and the like far more than most self respecting adults should! When my friends want nerd trivia answered its me they come to instead of Google. I will dress up just for a fun picture.

Mike Prosser September 9, 2014 - 8:41 am

I am truly a nerd by allowing my kids to embrace their nerdyness and geek moments. Not to mention I have them myself. There is not any time that I’m walking through a store and freaking out over something that has a character on it or something that I like. I have loved the turtles sine I was a kid and my nickname at my last job was “turtle” and every time I would start work I would yell turtle power.

Matthew Vassallo September 9, 2014 - 8:42 am

TMNT influenced my childhood being that I was Rafael for 5 straight years for Halloween…. I liked pizza because it’s of course, pizza! Morever, because the turtles ate pizza. I also loved the WWE wrestling and nerded out when I found out Kevin Nash was Super Shredder!!! Tmnt was my favorite animated series when I was kid. Good thing it didn’t clash with PeeWee’s Playhouse because then there would have been a problem

sunny baby September 9, 2014 - 8:43 am

I am a nerd because I am a 30 year old woman who still wears super mario, tmnt, goonies, smurfs, adventure time, regular show, reptar, etc. t shirts. I just don’t care. on my first date with my partner I wore a reptar t shirt. I wear hello kitty plugs in my ears, I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. For halloween this year I want to dress up as a TMNT.

Stephanie Kurtz September 9, 2014 - 8:47 am

My comic book reading, video game playing, and action figure collecting makes me a nerd. And I’m totally fine with it!

Patty D September 9, 2014 - 8:50 am

My video game obsession, comic book reading, comic store frequencing, statue and figure collections all make me and my husband nerds!

Maren McKim September 9, 2014 - 8:51 am

What makes me a nerd? I don’t quantify what I like by what society deems popular. And I am enthusiastic about my many geeky/nerdy loves and share it with everyone. Love what you want to love, people!!

Kevin Penney September 9, 2014 - 8:55 am

After you see my office full of nerdy gadgets and figures everyone knows I’m the biggest nerd.

Rich Tanner September 9, 2014 - 8:55 am

I’m willing to comment in websites just for a chance win nerdy stuff for my desk at work (I’m an app developer) or for my nerdy kids. Sometimes. When I feel like sharing.

Marta Bennett September 9, 2014 - 8:55 am

I have always been a nerd. Waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons while others my age were sleeping soundly. In my teenage years I hurried home after school to watch HeMan and TMNT. Now I am into all things Marvel and DC, Funko Pops and of course NERD block! I get anxious to the point of tears when it comes to ordering/buying any of these items. I am 43 years old and love to play video games. Started with my Atari when I was little. I would play for hours after cartoons and homework was completed. I can whoop just about any male at Galaga lol. I once had the high score for SuperPac Man at my local grocery store because I would beg to play everytime we went shopping. I was in a clan called H.A.D. (hidden and deadly) for Call of Duty 2. We made our own servers and maps and I would stay up till the wee hours of the morning to play. I was a queen sniper!!! =D Then as the CoD series moved on I would be first in line to buy the new one at my local WalMart and run home to play them with my sons and husband and certainly online with others around the world. Donatello is my favorite Turtle because he uses the least violence and is very smart. He knows how to use his intelligence for the greater good but does not hesitate to protect/defend his brothers. His name also reminds me of another favorite of mine, d’Artagnan, from the 3 Musketeers. I could go on and on as to why I am a super uber nerd but Im think you get the drift.

Chad Gottfried September 9, 2014 - 9:02 am

What makes me a nerd? Besides my vast quantities of movies and video games, I beat my friends at Trivial Pursuit, I burn thru the Netflix watching shows like Doctor Who and Supernatural and I’m just all around nerds.

Josh Deeds September 9, 2014 - 9:05 am

First movie in the theater I went to as a kid was TMNT. I spent all my paper route money on TMNT Acton figures and nearly had them all! When I went to college, my mom sold all my actin figures in a garage sale! Every Saturday morning was spent watching the turtles cartons. I was obsessed with them as a kid. Me and my brother would make custom ninja turtles out of our Legos (now Lego makes them, go figure). Now I’m a parent of 2 boys (ages 3 and 7) and they are starting to get into TMNT ever since the new movie came out (which we’ve seen twice already). We love Ninja Turtles!

Kayti September 9, 2014 - 9:07 am

I’ve been a gamer my whole life. I play D&D, I met my Husband on WoW and my baby’s name is Link! 🙂

Jessica Henry September 9, 2014 - 9:13 am

I’m a nerd because I love all of the stuff my brothers exposed me to when we were little. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, Nintendo.

Benito September 9, 2014 - 9:24 am

I am a true nerd because of my love all things nerdy! To top it off I have a spiderman, a Joker and a Mario and Luigi tattoo on me person. But most important I want to win this is to give it to my brother in law who is the BIGGEST TMNT fan ever! Thanks
Benito

Bub Zomby September 9, 2014 - 9:25 am

I am a true nerd because I like what I like, tmnt included, whether anyone else likes it or not, nuff said

Veronica Sharks September 9, 2014 - 9:28 am

Quoting the ninja turtle movies word for word with my siblings and even acting it out

Lucas Corso September 9, 2014 - 9:34 am

Because I like (taking air), star wars, star trek, Cosmos, TMNT, Dungeons and Dragons, Adventure Time, Doom, Castlevania, Contra, comics OMG!! comics, Marvel, DC, ASOIAF and a lot of other stuff, and I can probably have discussions or just talk about them for hours, and have done it, and I liked Community and truly dislike de The Big Bang Theory.

Chris 'Hall' Freeman September 9, 2014 - 9:41 am

John Guzi September 9, 2014 - 9:41 am

I share my love for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with my 6 year old niece she loves Rafael

Mat Bowes September 9, 2014 - 9:42 am

I am a nerd because i named my cats bebop and rocksteady. I am a nerd because ive gotten into fist fights over time travel. I am a nerd because i have a red super mario hat that i wear regularly around town. I am a nerd because i went opening night to the horrible Michael Bay turtles because even though it was a bastardization of my childhood, it was still turtles.

BrittnAsh Hinson September 9, 2014 - 9:46 am

I am and have always been obsessed with TMNT, in 1990 i made my parents buy me a turtle, even though at the time they were illegal to own in our state so they drove into the next state and brought one home for me. I named him Michaelangelo after my fav turtle. And to this day 24 years later hes still my fav pet/turtle. His tank is front and center in the living room. Surrounded by mikey toys!

Kellie Martin September 9, 2014 - 9:57 am

The fact that I still collect Movies and Barbies at my age, makes me a Nerd. Ssshhhh don’t tell anyone! 😉

Ben Hall September 9, 2014 - 10:01 am

I grew up on tmnt and I could use more nerd stuff.

Jen Spaeth September 9, 2014 - 10:04 am

I am a nerd because I am not afraid to love and be a part of my fandoms. I dream of cosplays. I get excited and happy when strangers comment on my tee shirts, which is usually a Doctor Who, or pop culture mashup of some kind. I have a StarWars quote inscribed inside my wedding ring. I am a proud nerd, geek, whatever title you want to toss around. I do what makes me happy. So there. 😉

Guest September 9, 2014 - 10:11 am

Cowabunga, dudes! I’m all about pizza parts and all things nerdy!

German Lopez September 9, 2014 - 10:12 am

I get uber excited about tons of nerdy stuff and most people dont understand it haha. Retro gaming, super heroes, video games, Legos, SW, etc… I take great pride in being considered a geek or nerd. And im proud that my toddler is into all that stuff too.

Natasha Naty September 9, 2014 - 10:13 am

Cowabunga, dudes! I’m all about pizza parties and all things nerdy!

stealangel September 9, 2014 - 10:15 am

Do people really need “nerd verification”? To me, what makes me a “nerd” is my massive amount of fandoms, and my love of reading. I’m like a child in a toy store any time I read or come across anything that coincides with my fandoms. As a matter of fact, at 30, I’m like a child in a toy store in the literal sense as well.

cbirkinbine September 9, 2014 - 10:22 am

My off as an adult is covered floor to ceiling with books, comic books, fan art, swords and figurines. At work my desk is a mixture of transformers, turtles, star trek, and dragons. I have a degree in physics and work at the Dryden Aeronautical Test Range as a Systems Engineer. In my spare time I tinker with 3-D printers, arduinos, and raspberry pi, and am part of a local maker/hacker group! I am nerd from my hobbies to my profession, and I don’t think you can find a bigger nerd than I!

Dexter Harris September 9, 2014 - 10:23 am

I may have cried uncontrollably and locked myself in my room for a week after seeing the 2014 TMNT film…

La'Shell Butler-Bowen September 9, 2014 - 10:24 am

I have no shame in embracing the fact that I am educated and a kid at heart. I love being the type of individual, mom & wife that dances to her own drum . Love that now a days it is the ” IN” thing to be someone who loves video games, cartoons, collectibles, cons etc. And to have a family and friends to share it with that alone is freaking awesome!!!

Haily Hanna September 9, 2014 - 10:28 am

Because I still use Cowabunga! in everyday conversations… Gnarly right?

Julian S. September 9, 2014 - 10:41 am

I absolutely am a nerd. I read a lot of comics, go to the movies once a week, and came any time that I can. I am such a nerd, I have an entire sleeve of resident evil Tattoos. I also watch alot of anime! I would love to win this, thank you very much for the opportunity!

Dan Dee McCloskey September 9, 2014 - 10:44 am

My 4 year old daughter knows who Leonardo Donatello Raphael Michelangelo but no clue who George Washington is. And one of our favorite hobbies is mixing up various chemicals pouring them on turtles we catch in hopes they start talking and doing martial arts.

Gary September 9, 2014 - 10:46 am

Being a nerd, Is being ok with whatever stimulates your mind. Like many I watch shows & follow stories, I download Ninja Turtle & power ranger ringtones. I know all the Secret levels in Super Mario Bros & still believe Han shot first.

Stephen Ritterbush September 9, 2014 - 10:48 am

Let’s see.. I own a dozen consoles, have played in two dozen tabletop systems, have bookshelves full of card games, board games, rulebooks and comic books, and I think that is enough without going overboard. The one TMNT item I have almost no one else does is the TMNT book released for the Rifts system, that featured a selection of death traps to throw your turtle loving players into.

Eli Ward September 9, 2014 - 10:48 am

Nerd way of life is just the funniest way of life. It was destiny for me. I embrace it.

melody castillo September 9, 2014 - 10:51 am

I love everything all turtles. Posters all over my wall.

Jesse McGrory September 9, 2014 - 10:54 am

Everything about me is nerdy and I love TMNT. I wish I kept all my TMNT toys from when i was a child.

krystinathealien September 9, 2014 - 11:05 am

Probably the insane amount of knowledge I have fire Harry Potter, and the fact that I still read fanfiction, but hey, who didn’t want more Harry Potter?

Sofaraway September 9, 2014 - 11:10 am

I’m such a TMNT nerd that even at 32 i still worship them and talk about them to my students in art school :-/

Casey Smith September 9, 2014 - 11:14 am

I’m certainly am not the biggest nerd, but playing games while watching a Star Wars marathon while being surrounded by a ton of action figures from my favorite games, comics, and shows puts me on the list for sure.

Amy Lynn September 9, 2014 - 11:33 am

What truly makes me a nerd is that I understand and imerse myself with mainly childhood memories such as Ninja Turtles! As all nerd things are epically awesome making references that my nerds friends will get make my day a little brighter. “where are we going” and I’ll respond “88 miles per hour”, even though I don’t really know where we are going, maybe we are going to the Ghost Busters 30th anniversary showing at the movies. Being surrounded and immersed in Nerdy Stuff is a lifestyle that I throughly enjoy it

Video games make me nerdy. Ive been playing since I was old enough to hold a controller. The old TMNT game on SNES is one of my favorite games, I remember spending tons of hours playing it with my brother. COWABUNGA! 🙂

Bill September 9, 2014 - 11:47 am

Cause “I love turtles”

Bryan Spina September 9, 2014 - 11:48 am

What makes me a Nerd is: I have an IQ over 130, I have been a gamer since I got the original NES for my eigth birthday and I still have it and it works, I went to the University of Arizona where Revenge of the Nerds was filmed.

Emma Taylor September 9, 2014 - 12:00 pm

I am a nerd because characters such as Batman gave me hope and inspired me to be a better person. I love to collect all manner of things. My latest obsession is Pop! Vinyls. I have a tattoo of Batgirl on my thigh. I can argue forever about fictional characters. Above all else, I love the nerd community because I can’t think of a more diverse and accepting group of people.

Brian Ericksen September 9, 2014 - 12:03 pm

Being a nerd is awesome. The roots of my nerdiness lay deep in the dungeons of Bowser’s original 8 bit castles. Video games, Star Wars, and ESPECIALLY my favorites, the TMNT ruled my childhood, and still do. As a child I would scour the San Jose flea market in the 80s, finding those TMNT action figure gems. My ‘hope diamond’ find being The Technodrome. As an adult I still endulge in the 1990 live action movie at least 4 times a year. I even built a custom two level terrarium for my iguana, featuring a New York City skyline background for the top, and a sewer lair background for the bottom, complete with a street and a manhole entrance from top level to bottom. It has cowabunga written on it in Turtle Script. My dream car is a Delorean, and I spend my weekends building a proton pack. Am I a nerd? I just spent all week building a perfect replica of the Mario 64 castle in Minecraft. You tell me. 😉

Stephen Geaghan September 9, 2014 - 12:05 pm

I was one of the turtles for Halloween at least 6 or 7 years of my life. Usually making my own costumes, and ruining my mothers belongings to make sure that they looked just right. My collection of early TMNT toys is extensive, and I still bust them out to play when ever I get a chance. Also I have already bought tons of clothing for myself, and for kids that I don’t even have yet or plan on having yet, but when I do have them they will be turtles fans whether they like it or not. On top of my love for the turtles, is my out right inability to break myself away from the shows and toys that made me happy as a kid. If I couldn’t watch an episode of the pirates of dark crystal and play some gunstar heros from time to time I would just stop trying. If anyone truly knew my closeted nerd addiction I think it would blow their mind. Oh and how could I forget the glory that is everything STAR TREK, CBS needs to take another run at the next generation, who wouldn’t watch that.

Eric Justin G September 9, 2014 - 12:09 pm

I have bulbasuar tattoo, 2 naruto ones and a green lantern one, more to come. I Spend about 8-12 hours a week just reading comics and I have a nerdgasum every time anything batman, ninja turtles or video games in general comes up in a conversation.

As a kid my parents would buy me toy nunchucks or swords because I was obsessed with tmnt, they would get taken away when used against my sisters haha. I even owned the cardboard cut outs they used at movie theaters to promote the first live action movie. I lived and breathed tmnt so much as a child, pizza is what I asked for anytime someone asked me what I wanted to eat, I still do this.

Lindsey Lance September 9, 2014 - 12:09 pm

What makes me a nerd is my love and passion for video games and old school tv shows. I grew up watching TMNT and yes even pretending to be Leonardo live action style for a little while. I remember for about 2 weeks I wouldn’t answer to my name my parents and teachers had to call me Leonardo lol. I can go on and on about what makes me a nerd but I might bore you to death so I end my comment now.

Jessica Redlick September 9, 2014 - 12:21 pm

Why am I a true nerd?
I work at a video game company, I volunteer at geeky/nerd themed events like Video Games Live and The Fringe Event. I grew up watching and loving the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers. I love pop culture and cult films and TV shows and spend most of my time (when Im not working) getting hooked on characters and stories. I read Comics and did my work experience in a comic shop. Before working at my current job worked at HMV and sold people TMNT and other things I loved and swore by there. I love attending conventions and being a part of this culture. My boyfriend and I are now subscribed to your Nerd Block, Horror Block and Arcade Block and Im so excited for them! I am a Fangirl, a Geek, a Nerd and I am proud of it 🙂

Joey Singletary September 9, 2014 - 12:29 pm

I guess the thing that makes me a nerd is the same thing as anyone else, my love for the retro and the geeky. I grew up on TMNT, Power Rangers, Darkwing Duck, etc.. I have a pretty good collection of “retro” stuffs, because it’s from when I was a kid. Heck I still play 1st/ 2nd ed. DnD with some friends even though 5th ed. is the new thing.

T-Dynamo September 9, 2014 - 12:40 pm

I love talking nerd and doing nerd things! I love the characters, situations, and worlds that my favorite shows, games, movies, books, etc. have taken me over the years and I have a real passion for it all! TMNT is particularly inspiring to me, having been created and started by just two guys with minimal funds and resources, and look how much it has grown and the impact it has had!

I’ve also been inspired to write my own fantasy/sci-fi novels in the hope that it may expand into a massive franchise; I want to give future nerds the same joy that so many creators and artists before have given us 🙂

kngscyn September 9, 2014 - 12:44 pm

My six year old is determined that she’s is going to marry Donny!

Amy Bridgford September 9, 2014 - 12:48 pm

I am a true nerd because I am slowly teaching my 4 year old daughter the awesomeness of being a nerd. The TMNT are one of her favorite shows, and when she runs down the “dark side” of the courtyard (the shadowy part), she yells out “I’m being Darth Vader mommy! I’m on the dark side!” If I were to win, the prize would go directly to my daughter, because she is a proper mini nerd, and I’m so proud! 🙂

Angel Lau September 9, 2014 - 12:52 pm

I LOVE TMNT and all the 80s 90s anime and cartoon

Julianna Cahill September 9, 2014 - 12:56 pm

I prefer books to people 🙂

LDC September 9, 2014 - 12:57 pm

As I get older, I find I am growing more and more geeky and nerdy. Glee, shivers and giggles. That’s what makes me a true nerd. LOL

Strawberry Fields September 9, 2014 - 12:57 pm

I have no problems voicing what I love…Even if it comes in the form of 4 cute mean green fighting machines! 😉

T.J. Sulpher September 9, 2014 - 1:04 pm

I’m a true nerd because I care just as much about TMNT as I did in ’88 when I discovered them. Not to mention all the comic books I buy and read!

Michael Molleman September 9, 2014 - 1:04 pm

while being christened at my first comic con at salt lake comic con as a true nerd, I was with an avid going friend of mine as press and we saw a cosplayer dressed as Slade from CW’s Arrow. we began arguing over whether it was in fact Slade or death stroke. it was really funny when our third friend remarked, ” aw, you’re nerd-ing already.”

Steve Willson September 9, 2014 - 1:18 pm

What truly makes me a nerd is being impatient on release dates. Being at the comic book shop the day (tuesday) you know your new favorite books come out. Seeing movies at midnight or pre screenings. And talking about every little tidbit of information about those movies before its released (TMNT, MCU, STAR WARS, LOTR)… I’m sure there’s numerous other things as well but that’s what pops first.

JoeBear33 September 9, 2014 - 1:34 pm

Have the entire 80’s series on dvd. All the movies. I’ve been collecting the nick show. Loving the new comic run. Have the 80’s Mikey action figure and the 90’s Mikey action figure. My friend Christina and I have day every year where we marathon all the movies and eat pizza. I’ve grown up with turtles and they will always have special place in my heart.

Matthew Julien September 9, 2014 - 1:42 pm

Because I’m Boba Fett

Cody Gordon September 9, 2014 - 1:51 pm

Following what your into not going with the crowed, picking your team, your hero, your franchise and living it in your own way, such as collecting!

Tony Marrs September 9, 2014 - 1:56 pm

I’d like to tell you why I’m a true nerd, but I didn’t choose the nerd life the nerd life chose me.

I do the things that I like. And those things happen to be collecting comic books, playing video games and playing card/board games. You’re not a nerd because you do certain things and you’re not ‘normal’ because you don’t. A nerd is someone who does what they love and doesn’t care about the stigma. I don’t do things to be accepted, I do things because they make me me and that’s why I’m proud to be called a nerd.

Amanda Cilluffo September 9, 2014 - 1:58 pm

What makes me a true nerd is the fact that I enjoy watching dc and marvel movies and I love reading comic books. Also iloved the turtles they are my favorite I even have a
dog named Leo after my favorite turtle

Alex Rasmussen September 9, 2014 - 2:03 pm

I’m a nerd because no matter how many people have told me to be different and change I’ve been honest to myself and it has made my life enjoyable. I love being a big kid who laughs smiles and looks at the positives in life

Tack September 9, 2014 - 2:13 pm

What truly makes me a nerd is what I believe makes everyone truly a nerd.. the passion we have for our beloved franchises. Nothing can beat it.

Karin September 9, 2014 - 2:20 pm

What makes me a hardcore nerd is…well here, let me just list it out for you:
1) I attend as many conventions in my local area as I possibly can travel in my batmobile
2) I cosplay (cosplayed Raphael at my last con)
3) I collect Funko pops (have every single TMNT one out so far)
4) I have seen every single Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle episode known to man plus the movies
5) I still have all my Pokemon cards from the 90’s and I’m still trying to catch em all
6) I have at least 1,000 action figures in counting
7) I plan on dressing up as Wonder Woman on my wedding day while the hubby will be Superman
8) I am obsessed with TMNTs…I live and breathe TMNTs…I even own 4 actual turtles with the names- Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello
9) Those turtles each have their own colored shells to match their namesakes
10) I also have a pet rat named Splinter
11) My whole wardrobe collection consists of TMNT t-shirts

The list gets even longer but I’ll stop here before I get too carried away with my nerdiness.

Elizabeth Blair September 9, 2014 - 2:47 pm

I’m more trying to get this for my son. He loves the Turles, Especially Michelangelo. Whenever we go shopping for clothes he always seems to manage to find the shirt or socks that have the Turtles on them. When asked what TV show he wants to watch he always asked for Turtles. He also never goes anywhere without his Michelangelo action figure that I got from Loot Crate. I’m planning on getting him signed up for Nerd Blocks subscription for boys next month.

Annelisa Busch September 9, 2014 - 2:48 pm

I never thought I would like nerdblock but have been surprised! I wouldn’t say I was the biggest nerd ever. Give the nerdblocks to a huge TMNT fan! And nerd!

gryffindorkliz September 9, 2014 - 3:21 pm

Sorting hat tattoo makes me pretty nerdy, and my vast collection of toys and gear to boot lol but I plan to add more nerdy tattoos 😀

Sara Irons September 9, 2014 - 3:47 pm

My true nerdiness is so abundant that I can’t even begin to cover it here in such a small box. But I will say I held a grudge against the ocean for years after it swallowed my swimming Donatello when I was four. I still mourn the loss every day

Heather Wrzesinski September 9, 2014 - 3:53 pm

I’m a nerd because of how passionate I am about the things I love. I work at a comic book store, play video games, watch anime and attend conventions.

Marshall Kiker September 9, 2014 - 3:54 pm

I clicked the link without even thinking. In this paranoid age that either makes me a nerd or just careless.

Angela McKain September 9, 2014 - 4:03 pm

I am a huge geek/nerd. I watch a lot of shows read a lot of books and thought I don’t play all the games I do learn a lot about them. I fangirl on a daily basis and nerdgasm pretty frequently when I talk on facebook or blog on tumblr about my fandoms. I use the words fangirl, fanfiction, and nerdgasm, for trying out loud. Who does that without expecting a wedgey or weird look? I love all the things and enjoy talking about them with others so much it talks them into looking into them and joining the fandoms. I am a nerd addict and I push it onto my friends.

Chris J Arnot September 9, 2014 - 4:13 pm

Since I was three I’ve had an uncanny love for the brothers. Even had bedsheets and curtains. Most all the toys, all the movies , games and even in my later years glued them to my dashboard of my suburban. I’m a total nerd and I just don’t care who knows it. GOD, I LOVE BEING A TURTLE!!!!

BuffyGirl September 9, 2014 - 4:25 pm

It’s pretty easy, actually. Reasons like this… That’s me, being me at Toys R Us earlier today.

Brandon Biniecki September 9, 2014 - 4:47 pm

I dressed up as Donatello for the TMNT movie, I modded an XBOX to fit inside of a 1989 Technodrome toy, I have a full metal alchemist tattoo, and I own my own PC Support business.

Jeff Moore September 9, 2014 - 4:51 pm

I have lived Turtles for years and now my sons are sharing the same excitement! Long Live the Turtles! If I am a Nerd for loving the a Turtles, then so be it!

Matt Robinson September 9, 2014 - 5:11 pm

I have passed my love of the turtles on to my daughter who is now 7 and has loved the turtles for the last 3 years. She has seen every incarnation, and even dressed as Mikey for Halloween! But what truly makes me a nerd, is I got her to identify and say Vader and Maul before the age of 1!

drdvdplayerhandbook September 9, 2014 - 5:12 pm

My clothing is tied to my famdom (i.e., I always were items of clothing related to something I’m a fan of), and I feel no embarrasment about it, no matter how silly it might look. I’ve worn a NES controller belt buckle, Planeteer rings, a zombie hat, a wizard hoodie (complete with large sleeves), and TMNT shirts to school and/or work.

My ringtones are from The Flash TV series, Spectacular Spider-Man and Final Fantasy VII. And of course, computers and science in general are two of my most beloved subjects. So yeah, I’m a bit of a nerd. For added nerdom, I’m socially awkard and I pretty much hate sports.

Alex Vasquez September 9, 2014 - 5:17 pm

Not sure what makes me a nerd. Since I was young I’ve been enjoying video games from Mario to Halo and a lot of other games In between. As a kid, watching Saturday morning cartoons with a bowl of cereal, was like the best. Maybe it’s just me, but being able to enjoy the things I loved as a kid, even as an adult is what makes me a nerd. It’s the little things like an old show, a comic or even a movie that’s brings me memories of some of the best times of my life. With all these recently announced comic book movies coming up, it only gets better. Being able to collect toys and comics that remind me of those days is just great. So yeah, I guess I am a nerd and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. #TMNT #Nerd4Life

Shannon September 9, 2014 - 5:52 pm

I am a nerd because I love comics, video games and anything that is cute. I still have my original NES system and have to blow on the cartridges. I also still have my original TMNT figurines from my childhood and adults are never too old to play with toys.

Nikki Morkls September 9, 2014 - 6:14 pm

This is what truly makes me a nerd:

My hobbies include: Video games ( my first system was a sega genesis and I’ve been playing games ever since then) I collect Monster High Dolls and have cos-played as one of them. I go to Disney once or twice a year, I just love all things Disney so much!

I love reading anything fantasy/fiction. Anything to do with vampires, fairies, werewolves, wizards, supernatural, mythical creatures. Same goes for my movie tastes. The more unrealistic it is the better!

I consider myself very smart with computers. I am good with figuring out how to fix problems and I will not give up until I figure something out.

I can be very socially awkward. Sometimes the way I respond to people aren’t even full words, it’s very weird. I also will avoid going down an aisle in a store that has a person in it just to avoid people haha

I get crushes on animated/videogame characters <3

I correct people when they make spelling mistakes. I just can't!

I talk out loud to myself all the time. I have been both caught and not sure if I had been caught. lol

I very much enjoy my alone time, and usually prefer it rather than going to a party.

I played the clarinet for 9 years and was a big band nerd in high school. Marching was one of the things I was best at and I will always be proud of it.

One of my favorite things is cos-playing. I just love dressing up so much! I feel more myself when I'm dressed up as a character than when I'm just me. I probably spend a good majority of my time planning costumes. There's Halloween, The zombie march, & C2E2 every year plus this year I've dressed up for a costume party in June, a dragon party last month in which I won the golden dragon for best costume, and I'll be a pirate for my boyfriends house warming party at the end of this month. Also my boyfriend has already planned a Mortal Kombat party to celebrate the release of Mortal Kombat X. I'm already planning my Mileena costume and it's not until April! Oh and for Halloween I can't wear the same costume twice so one year I wore 3 different costumes in the span of one month! <3

P.S. TMNT RULES! GO NERDS!

Bobby Price September 9, 2014 - 9:03 pm

What makes me a nerd?
Well I have a penchant for reliving all my old childhood cartoons, toys people think are my kids are really mine, lol I’m always thinking up and drawing new characters. I even do some cosplay from time to time. I may not be uber nerd but I am definitely within the nerd ranks.

What truly make me a nerd is basically the fact that I would prefer to stay home or spend the night at a friends place, just playing classic and new video games until unknown hours of the morning. Plus watching nerdy movies and tv shows, of course. All rather than going out clubbing.

Jimmy Hernandez September 9, 2014 - 9:30 pm

I own all the TMNT movies on Blu-ray and watched them all again this weekend!! I have beat all the games available on Xbox, Wii, and PC. Plus, why not? Sometimes I feel like the only person in the world that DOESNT think they’re ridiculous (they’re not) and I don’t care ( I know other people like ’em too! Oh yeah, and I collect the comics.

What makes me a nerd?Thats a hard question since Ive always been this way. I love video games, horro flicks, anime and cartoons. Im usually youtubing old episodes of cartoons from my childhood like TMNT, street sharks, Beetlejuice the animated series and ghost busters.. I deck my kids out in invader zim clothes, hand painted tardis shoes and am quilting a star wars blanket from vintage tshits. I rarely brush my hair, I only own tshirts ,jeans and hoodies and Im 34 yrs old. I can quote all the LOTR movies and sing every song from labyrinth..im alittle akward most of the time but get me involved in a comic book conversation and I can go for hours. I have almost every original TMNT action figure(unfortunately I took my brothers collection when he lost interest). I can do a bad ass krang impersonation and purrrrrr like a wookie. I wore glasses before they were cool and I can probably fix your broken electronic or game system. SO I say it loud to my brothers and sisters, were here, were weird..get used to it!!!!!!

What makes me a nerd, is the fact that I have no problem showing people, just how much I enjoy the world of fantasy type fiction. If someone strikes up a conversation, whether it be about my favorite comic book, video game, cartoon, or movie, I always show an extreme sense of enthusiasm and go all rant like about how awesome it is. When I don’t know something about let’s say, the Guardians of the Galaxy, I go all out on researching and finding material that will help me better understand how they came about and why they still exist in media.

I’ve converted several friends and my g/f, all of who thought what I enjoy was weird, until they met me. Now they are just as excited about going to the next Comic Con or Comic Expo, just so we can purchase more stuff that we don’t need or get that next autograph that we may already have.

I’ve starting purchasing collectibles, that are mostly Marvel, that I become giddy with excitement over when they arrive at my doorstep or leave the store with me. I proudly take photos of them and force others to view them on my social media accounts, just so people know that this is what I enjoy being, a nerd.

My love of comic books, classic cartoons and awesome toys, combined with my intricate knowledge of vast swathes of pop culture, would definitely classify me as a nerd. A PROUD nerd. Funnily enough, just tonight – before I saw this TMNT contest – two of my sons were watching Ninja Turtles cartoons and one of them asked me to explain the Kraang of my youth with the way it’s represented today. And I did.

Maeghyn Koehler September 9, 2014 - 11:28 pm

Our son has batman stuff from months -3t already

Steph Catra Hammond September 10, 2014 - 12:02 am

I am as old as the ninja turtles and I still want to marry Leonardo. ♥♥♥
I thanks my older brothers for my introduction to all things nerd. From Ninja turtles to x-men to batman and doctor who.
Bless the nerds and we shall inherit the earth ¤¤

I’ve been watching sci-fi and reading comics my whole life! I’ve shared Doctor Who with my child from the age of 2 on, and have watched TMNT since it came on! I love nerd-dom!!!

Doris September 10, 2014 - 12:45 am

What makes me a nerd is that I love to hang out at the library so much! It is like going to the mall for me!!!!!!!! lol

Eric September 10, 2014 - 12:54 am

I am a nerd because I love to learn computer stuff and passing it on to my boys also!

Theresa S September 10, 2014 - 3:13 am

I’m definitely a true nerd 🙂 I am introverted and don’t like being around a lot of people or groups so enjoy being home. I would prefer to be around my 3 nerd friends enjoying video games, movies and reading comics. We are all nerds and enjoy our nerd life without drama of trying to impress people or live up to the cool role 😉

Noswal007 September 10, 2014 - 4:14 am

what truly makes me a nerd is how i prefer to sit in a corner by myself reading a book instead of talking to my friends, because everyone ignores me and i don’t have any

jeremy trimble September 10, 2014 - 6:17 am

I am a true nerd because I don’t care what people think of my awesome t-shirt collection. I wear a different nerd themed shirt every day it can be star wars Zelda pokemon or anything else nerdy I don’t care. I’m also addicted to pokemon and doctor who. And I absolutely love science. I’m not afraid to claim my nerdiness.

I don’t Know how my life style started. My first reality check that I was a nerd was playing Age of Empires 1 online back in 1998 back on 56k and having the house be filled with smoke without seeing it because I was in game and my food was burning for 20 minutes. What else makes me a nerd is back in 2005 playing Vanilla wow with all my buddies for a week straight in a garage without showering living off energy drinks mountain dew none of us showering shaving not doing anything but gaming on WOW and Counter Strike 1.6. At one point while I played Rift new content game out and were trying to accomplish world first so I had to grind out Rank 7/8 PVP gear so I took leave for 2 weeks just to get the honor to help us progress. I document all anime I have ever watched at myanimelist. I am currently subscribed to Nerdblock, MyGeekGoodies, HorrorBlock, and 2 loot crates a month. My favorite nerdy memory has to be one of the many times I hid in the morning acting like I left for High School but would come back home to play online games. Since my dad had me on Parental controls and time control limit I had to use the free dial up from Netzero, Bluelight and Juno. Since I had ran out of free hours I aol searched or yahoo I cant remember and searched for free 56k internet I found one. I was on it for hours turns out It wasnt one I was supposed to use. At the end of the month my dad received a 2,000 dollar phone bill for being on the phone to the U.K. for a few hours. My dad had to call in and fight the charges since he knew no one was home or knew anyone from the U.K. he never found out =D

I am turning my daughter into a nerd by watching TMNT and other shows. TMNT is her favorite but we watch other 90s cartoons, watch the movies, and will soon play the games.

slayer September 10, 2014 - 9:53 am

Because they were the one’s to teach me how to fight

Courtney Ponka September 10, 2014 - 1:19 pm

I’ve been a huge fan of the ninja turtles since the first cartoon, I watched all the movies when I was little and that love really hasn’t died down. My aunt actually introduced me into the world of comic books when I was rather young, and she realized I had problem with reading, so she thought something with pictures that accompanied the readings would be helpful! I started with X-Men, moved onto The Flash, and it all kind of tumbled on from there. From Comics to cartoons to movies, and more recently (about four years ago) I avidly read through the Harry Potter series and watched the entirety of the new Who series before branching out into Classic Who. My friend and I make a yearly journey to Motor City Comic Con (for the past 7 or so years) and I’m pretty sure with each passing year I might be getting just a bit nerdier.

GreenFury September 10, 2014 - 3:03 pm

Why am I a true nerd?
I play tabletop games even though I’m nearing 30. I still watch cartoons and don’t have kids. I love technology.

Ryan Sollom September 10, 2014 - 5:26 pm

Im a father of two awesome children. We saw the movie opening night and it was awesome! I have been a tmnt fan since the first cartoon aired in the 90s! We watch the new series as a fam and I watched the old series growing up with my brother and sister so the turtles have come full circle in my life. Also everyone always has a favorite turtle. Mines mikey but I have always loved casey jones.
Turtles rule always will best toys in the 90s and currently!

Leslie September 11, 2014 - 6:23 am

I have love TMNT since I was a kid. I have seen the old shows, own all the old live action movies as well as the 2007 film. When I saw the Turtles Forever film where 3 sets of turtles met and teamed up against the various shredders of their time, I freaked and geeked out. I love the new series on Nickelodeon now and have seen the new film as well. I love discussing turtle history and showing off my knowledge of the turtles. For instance Rob Paulsen who voiced Rauphel in the 80s show now voices Donatello in the current Nick show. I just love the turtles so much. They are my major thing to geek out about. My friends see me as a little obsessive about them and weird when I geek out but it is a series that is close to my heart. Cowabunga dudes!!

Justin September 12, 2014 - 8:16 pm

I have a huge action figure collection and subscription to get collectible figures in the mail… 25 years old and I’m still a die hard TMNT fan, turtle power for life, cowabunga dudes!!
