5 Characters We Want to See in TMNT Sequel

Now that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is in theaters and fans are going to see it in droves, everyone is wondering what they can expect next. After all, it didn’t take the studios long to announce that there will be a sequel to this new TMNT movie. As of writing this, the film has earned over $150 million worldwide, making it one of the most successful Ninja Turtles movies of all time. Having produced numbers like these, it’s no wonder that they’ve elected to go forward with a sequel.

Shellheads all over the internet are now starting to talk about what they want to see in TMNT 2. With some reports suggesting that director Jonathan Liebesman and producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have already confirmed that some of our favorite characters will be making an appearance, we may not have to wish for much. That being said, there really hasn’t been any confirmation of new character appearances in the sequel, and we’ll just have to hope that the people behind the film will give us what we want. But what do we want? Well, here are five familiar faces we’d like to see in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2!

1. Casey Jones

Casey-Jones

While it was nice to see Vernon Fenwick played by Will Arnett, I think we’d all like to see someone else hitting on April O’Neil. Vernon is kind of a scumbag, but he’s not the same kind of character that Casey is. April needs someone to fight off who isn’t necessarily a co-worker, and it wouldn’t hurt if he was capable of helping the Turtles out every now and then, much like he does in Nickelodeon’s series. Don’t get me wrong, Vernon did help out (a little) in the new movie, but I think we can all agree that it would be much more awesome to see someone wielding a hockey stick and baseball bat! (preferably not the Jose Canseco variety)

2. Baxter Stockman

Baxter-Stockman

Despite the fact that he was supposed to star in the first movie, we didn’t see much (if any) of him after all. It would be nice to see Baxter (and perhaps his mousers?) make a comeback in the sequel. He doesn’t necessarily need to be turned into a fly, but he was a pretty big part of the TMNT lore and it wouldn’t feel right to leave him out unless there was a good reason to do so. Even if he doesn’t make an appearance in this sequel, don’t forget that William Fichtner once revealed that he had signed a contract for three films, which means that Baxter could still appear in the third movie if there’s no room in the second.

3 & 4. Bebop and Rocksteady

Bebop and Rocksteady

We need to see The Shredder come back strong with his own mutants, and there’s at least a chance that he still has some of the mutagen. Perhaps he should use that mutagen to create two fan favorite bad guys? It would be nice to see their characters built up a little bit (as it would appear that they are doing in the Nickelodeon series), but even if we don’t know too much about them, I’m sure the fans would still enjoy seeing them rampage around New York City.

5. Krang

Kraang

Whether it’s just based on Krang from the original animated series or they choose to tell the story of the Kraang trying to take over the world, this would be a good time to introduce the character. At the very least, we could see The Shredder desperately needing mutagen and turning to Kraang for help. Perhaps he would make an appearance at the end of the film, setting up the third installment and getting everyone excited for even more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action at the box office. Whether he’s the main attraction or a set piece for the next big movie, Krang should probably show its ugly face in the location where the turtles that the Krang hates are located. (see what I did there?)

TMNT Movie 2014 Posters

With a release date of 2016, we won’t have long to wait to find out where they choose to take this movie, but I’m sure it’ll be just as interesting of a ride as it was the first time around. My only hope in regards to that ride would be that the studios do a better job of releasing information and teasing the fans with trailers, on set pictures and concept art. When Shellheads are left to their own devices, some wild rumors can start to circulate that might just end up hurting the image of the TMNT overall, and no fan of our heroes in the half shell wants to see that!

What do you think? Who do you want to see in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2? Are you also hoping that the studios will do a better job with PR this time around? Let us know in the comments below or sound off in our forums!

While those are the obvious choice for Sequels, How about a Mutant like Leatherhead, He’s a good guy and supposedly as smart as Donnie.

How about The Rat King, Who has the ability to control the Rats in the City, including Master Splinter.

Krang isn’t the only alien race out there, You could also bring in the Triceratons.

Can also bring in the Fugitoid.

Maybe have Donnie create Metalhead in sequel.

And I would also like to see Dimension X in the movie.

Oh and, I would love to see a movie version of Tiger Claw, Just saying. 🙂

I would Leatherhead. Really glad he’s a good guy in the new Nick series. And the Tricertons could be part of the Ultroms plan to take over earth. I really think the third film could be really epic if done and set up right.

I actually think that would be good to

Meh screw the ‘Gentle Giant’ approach. He needs to be classic baddie Leatherhead. Tho there could be problems what with Killer Croc coming in Suicide Squad – ironically getting a ‘good guy’/antihero route as well. Are the only bad gators in the sewers of New York City?

What about the Neutrinos, the Punk Frogs and Usagi Yojimbo?

I’m surprised we’ve yet to see Krang or Bebop & Rocksteady. My biggest hopes for the next installment as goofy as it may seem is PLEASE make the Turtles look like their old selves or their nose / nostrils anyways. Also, I was kinda bummed that the first 30 minutes was mostly April. I will say Megan Fox done a pretty good job, but I wanna see the Turtles whooping ass.

I wonder if there’s a licensing/ problem with a live action Krang involving the Invaders from Mars (1986)…

WillDragon August 21, 2014 - 6:11 pm

Instead of Baxter Stockman, I wish to see Leatherhead so much more.

So pretty much, in a turtle nutshell, you just want a live-action retelling of the original cartoon show, which was made to sell the Playmate toys.

Niles Kimbro August 22, 2014 - 4:45 pm

nope. just some of the fan favorite characters

Roth Sothy August 23, 2014 - 1:24 pm

And these “fan favorites” just happen to be from the original cartoon. 3 of which were designed specifically as Playmate toys and for the show to advertise them. I suggest you read the article and comments here again (look at TigerClaw305’s). Personally, I wouldn’t mind a live-action retelling of the cartoon or even the comics, just as long as it’s done right. I’m just not sure how well they would pull it off with the new movie’s origin.

Niles Kimbro August 24, 2014 - 9:41 am

true, but they’re not saying use the characters in the exact same storyline they had before. just incorperate them into the storyline they established. personally i can’t say much else, as i have to wait till it’s available for streaming online, because i’m broke like that.

Roth Sothy August 24, 2014 - 12:47 pm

um, that’s pretty much what I said.. You’re bringing us in a loop here.
If you ever read books like Beowulf or other folklore, you would learn that these old stories are not exactly what really happened when it’s passed down by mouth. Generations down, parts of the story usually get altered or exaggerated to keep interesting for new young listeners, so they’re worded in their own way. Unless the story gets written and published or something. That, buddy, is what is called a reboot. It’s a retelling of the story but in a new way. Not once did I say the word “exact”. Or else that would be considered a remake! Now that you understand, let’s go back and read my original post.
Oh, and if you haven’t seen the new movie, then what the shell are you waiting for! Turtles to fly? ..oh wait

Niles Kimbro August 24, 2014 - 12:48 pm

it to be available on, say, putlocker. cuz i’m broke as hell. can’t go to the movies, and can’t buy em. only reason i pay for the internet is cuz i’m in an online school.

damian August 23, 2014 - 1:54 pm

casey jones

damian August 23, 2014 - 1:55 pm

bebop and rocksteady

dylan21 August 24, 2014 - 8:16 pm

I’d really like to see the Triceratons story in the next movie – that’d be cool

Jed May 19, 2015 - 12:58 pm

I agree. Rat King, is a crucial part of TMNT. From what I have seen so far, they are killing casey jones and baxter stockman. one … casey jones had long hair and wasn’t a preppy. baxter stockman, was a little Caucasian nerdy type. Brad Dourif, or that type would have been better. I don’t remember the other guys name … but an African American actor was cast for Bebop. Changing the race, of a character never works. Look at Daredevil. Michael Clark Duncan, (a phenomenal talent r.i.p) was awesome for kingpin. This movie might be a huge train wreck or half way, decent.
