Turtle Bits: TMNT in IMAX, Official Movie Toy Packaging

Previous images of specialty Real 3D glasses revealed that Jonathan Liebesman’s new TMNT movie would be in 3D, but now we know even more about the release. Paramount just announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be digitally re-mastered for the IMAX format and shown in IMAX theaters all over the world starting on August 8^th. This is pretty significant news, as it’s not every movie that receives this kind of treatment. Typically, only the biggest of titles are brought to these gargantuan screens, so hopefully this is a good sign. Nevertheless, fans will now get the choice of watching the film in either 2D, 3D or IMAX.  Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment, had the following to say about the news:

“Longtime partners Michael Bay and Jonathan Liebesman have done a wonderful job of updating this classic franchise for a next-generation audience. We look forward to teaming up with Paramount and bringing these fun, relatable and action-fueled characters to life in the most immersive way possible – through The IMAX Experience.”

With the release of the film now only a few short months away, it’s clear that everyone is gearing up and preparing for a big summer blockbuster – even Playmates. While we showed you images of their new toy line roughly a week ago, all of the toys were out of their packaging and the source of the image could not be readily confirmed. Thankfully, we now have pictures of the toys in their packaging, revealing even more details about the line of action figures.

With pictures of Shredder, Splinter, a Foot Soldier and all four turtles, there should be no doubt that these are the final designs that we can espect to hit store shelves later this summer. The designs seem to have changed slightly, but over all they are exactly as we saw them in the previous image. The packaging itself is pretty awesome, although it does cut off the “Teenage Mutant” from the main title, which is a bit odd. One has to wonder whether or not they designed the packaging during that strange period of time when the movie was just going to be called “Ninja Turtles.”
