During a recent Q&A event, the Co-Creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles confirmed that the turtles will not be aliens in the new movie being produced by Michael Bay. This information has already been all but confirmed by other sources, but the fact that Eastman himself has come out to reassure the fans on this matter is definitely a good sign.
At the event, one fan spoke up about his concerns with the new movie and asked Eastman a few questions, including whether or not he had Bay “on the chain.” Eastman then went on to express many of the same feelings he has already expressed about the film over the past year, but included a few interesting tidbits that TMNT fans are sure to eat up: “Michael Bay – no matter what you think about him, at least for me he’s made some really incredible movies, some stuff that I can’t imagine you could even create that and put it on screen. What was it, ‘The Island‘, remember that? But anyway, he’s been nothing but amazingly respectful. Jonathan Liebesman, the director, and some of the writers – they brought me in early on. I know there was a script that was leaked early on, which was before he even came in – he was brought in to take over as the head of production for the project. They’ve just been awesome and I’ve seen the script, I’ve seen the design of the characters; it’s fantastic. The story has all the right Turtle-isms, it’s got all their – they’re in the sewers, you know, so I’m very excited to see the movie. I think they have a great vision, it’s gonna be a great story, they’re spending a gob-load of money on it.” Later on during the Q&A session, a fan asks simply “are they still aliens?” Eastman’s response is a quick and emphatic “No.” If the Co-Creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is so absolutely sure about this that he has no problem just flat out telling the fans about it, I think it’s safe to say that we can finally lay the whole “alien” controversy to rest.
No, our beloved heroes in a half shell will not be aliens. Now let us all breathe a huge sigh of relief and discuss Eastman’s apparent love affair with Michael Bay. Okay, so I’m putting words in his mouth, but seriously? That seemed like a lot of praise for Bay. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments and be sure to check out the Q&A for yourself in the video below.

I understand their will be no aliens so we can all calm down. My question is, who will the villian be? obv they are going for the cartoon style with the Ch 4 news team does this mean we’ll get the Technodrome/Dimension X finally? Maybe do the cliched “giant lazer beam blasting down on NY” finale?
I don’t get all the hate for Bay’s involvement. He’s NOT directing or writing it and everyone thinks this is film. He’s only producing it. Now, i may be a Bay apologist the way Eastman is, but i want a “pure” TMNT film too, and have my reservations, but it’ll be fine.
Daniel,
Very well said dude! So far the villain has not been confirmed which keeps many fans anxiously guessing. If this film begins in the origin from Hamato Yoshi (Master Splinter) than you can expect Oroku Saki (Shredder) to be involved. Finally adding Kraang would be awesome too.
I want to know if that if they are going the late 80s early 90s route, will they be wearing their big boy pants are is Michelangelo going to be throwing around a grappling hook and will the one liners be really bad? The boys have evolved by leaps and bounds since CBS destroyed them and the Next Mutation crushed them even further.
The characters in the upcoming 2014 film are from the 80’s television series. Many fans are skeptical about this film but should not be, so far filming seems to be working great.
Whew! Now I am very excited to see this movieeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like most of the new superhero movies now, I hope this movie is really dark and serious, no stupid goofy kid crap like in the 90’s! But please… PLEASE have all the stuff and characters from the original show, Turtles (obviously)Splinter, Casey Jones, April O Neil, Shredder, Krang, Rocksteady and Bebop, The foot clan, and lets not forget how cool it would be if they had the technodrome in this movie….. That would be so bad ass!!! Either way cant wait to see this opening night!
