Megan Fox Joins Ninja Turtles Movie

by Justin Bozung

For months, fans kept insisting that this movie would never see the light of day; that it had officially bit the dust. Unfortunately for them, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a hot commodity right now and it’s highly unlikely that the studios behind the project are just going to give up on it. In the ensuing months since Michael Bay made his now infamous extra terrestrial tortoise announcement, we’ve made a few discoveries and sorted a few things out in regards to what we do know about the film. First off, the title will be shortened down to Ninja Turtles. Second, it may or may not change the origin of our beloved heroes in a half shell. Third, it will probably feature CGI animated turtles voiced by some of the same actors who are currently working on the Nickelodeon TMNT show. Finally, the script that was leaked was not official and is not the final script.

Megan Fox Ninja Turtles April OneilWith all that out of the way, it’s time to enter yet another little nugget of information into our meager collection, as it was recently announced that well known actress Megan Fox will be joining the cast of the new Ninja Turtles film. Michael Bay himself made the announcement on his website the other day, saying simply that “we are bringing (her) back into the family!” It remains to be seen exactly what role she will fill, but you don’t hire someone like Megan to just sit in the background. If I had to wager a guess, I’d say she is either being considered for or has already won the title of April O’Neill. It only makes sense that they’d want to add some star power to a film that will be centered on the shellraising heroes, if only to add to the marketability of the movie. Whether or not she will play the role of April, just having her attached to the film raises a lot of questions and intrigue about this project.

If you’re confused by the move, don’t be. Yes, it’s true that Fox was previously kicked off the set of Transformers 3 aftergan Fox TMNT Ninja Turtles making some not so friendly comments about the director, Michael Bay. However, the reality of this industry is that few feuds last very long in Hollywood; before you know it, you’re back to business as usual again. Some fans will be unimpressed with the newest cast member and perhaps they should be. After all, Megan Fox represents quite a bit of sex appeal and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have never really been about that. However, it wouldn’t be fair to assume she’s going to be in the movie just to look good, as we don’t know what her role will be or how she will perform. That being said, if you take a look at the way that Bay has directed in the past, this doesn’t look like a decision made to add some good old fashioned wholesome family fun.

Has Megan Fox been brought on board to play April? Or has she been brought on for something else? Whatever the case may be, the fact remains that a lot of fans remain very negative about this new film. Many look at this as Bay coming out and saying that he’s doing the same thing with the Ninja Turtles movie that he did with Transformers; making a blockbuster with a lackluster story based on aliens coming from outer space and focusing the attention more on the humans than on the main characters. If not much was changed about the leaked script we saw last year, chances are that these fans could be right. Who knows? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

She was only hired because of her looks and she helped start another 80s movie franchise.. TRANSFORMERS! People might hate it(like me), but she looks good and attracts attention

Johnny its easy to agree with you as her beauty gets much attention. It would be nice to see her play a villain, maybe as Master Shredder’s daughter. Either way this decision to rejoin with Michael Bay is big news, and even bigger news as she is the first public announced actress for the film.

If I had a choice, I think I would pick Megan Fox.

If you did, would it be

Megan Fox because of her success with Transformers. What about mila kunis?

Judith Hoag’s daughter!

I guess keep it in the family! Former April O’Neil (Judith Hoag) played her part very well.

If she is April or Karai, this choice makes me sad. There are plenty of women out there who are hot and are better actresses. Of the list above i would pick Scarlett Johansson. She at least has an emotional range larger then a fruit fly. I am also afraid that it will be like Transformers, not a lot of focus on the main characters, too much on the human characters, and lots of inappropriate, repetitive, juvenile, testicle jokes. Inappropriate for younger children and newly budding teenage boys…

The younger generation will experience a different Ninja Turtles as older generations did, but both young and old generations came to love the Ninja Turtles as they are the main characters. Transformers trilogy did focus lots on human characters but it played out well with humor and action, Either way THE STORY is most important. Nickelodeon portrays the characters extremely well so hopefully Michael Bay can learn from this.

I really don’t like the idea of Megan fox being in the movie. She might be hot but I expect there to be some form of acting in the new Turtle movie and she reprisents the exact opposite. Every movie she’s ever been in has been 90% bad acting. And if there looking for a April O’Neil I would have to vote for Emma Stone. She’s funny, a great actress, and if Bay wants to add a taste of sexy for the new April Emma could pull it off with ease. So in short if Megan gonna be in the movie I hope it’s as a random stand in, even though I know that won’t happen.

Yes, Emma Stone would sure make a great April O’Neil, her and a few other actresses. Even though Megan Fox does not have the best reputation in Hollywood, it’s hard to judge this move early on as Megan Fox’s role has not revealed yet. Whichever role she lands is sure to be somewhat big but she would fit better as a villain (personal opinion).

It’s been confirmed she’s playing April.

I see that now. Its tough to see her as April O’Neil but hopefully everyone is wrong as all that matters is a good Ninja Turtles movie. Whats your thoughts on this Dan?

Don Deva March 26, 2013 - 2:51 pm

This is balls. She is NO April what so ever! With each new bit of info on this movie it’s becoming more depressing. I really want to be excited for it, but Michael Bay is making it difficult.

Its going to be interesting but we cannot totally shut her down before we had a chance to see her in this film. We can only hope for the best.

Ya you may be right Admin we I mean I should give her a chance before I talk about her like that
