Mega Bloks Technodrome Now Available at Toys R Us

There were a lot of TMNT Mega Bloks sets announced during New York Toy Fair earlier this year. Surprisingly, by the end of the summer, most of them had already been released. Unfortunately, one set in particular was still conspicuously missing from most store shelves, and many fans have been wondering when they would be able to find it. Although I’m happy to announce that you can finally purchase the Mega Bloks Technodrome set, you might be surprised at the price tag for this bad boy. You can now purchase this awesome set for an MSRP of $250 at Toys R Us.

Considering that most of the recent TMNT Mega Bloks sets have been offered at a fairly decent price, it’s pretty shocking to see a set that is this expensive. You could buy entire collections of limited edition TMNT figures for less than the cost of this Mega Bloks Technodrome! To be fair, the Technodrome is pretty darn huge once it is built, and there are a lot of pieces required to build this classic Utrom ship. Fans of the original animated series are definitely going to love the authenticity on display here, but they might suffer from a bit of sticker shock.

With the holidays right around the corner, there is a possibility that we will see this item on sale within the next two months, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Being that the Mega Bloks Technodrome is a brand new toy, chances are that any discount is going to be very small. At its current price, something tells me that a lot of fans won’t be able to afford this TMNT Mega Bloks set. That being said, the wealthier fans among us will be glad to know that they can now pick up the Technodrome from Toys R Us!

Eastman & Laird TMNT Mega Bloks Now Available At Toys R Us

Even if you’re not a fan of their products, you have to admit that Mega Bloks has been putting out some awesome TMNT toys as of late. Their most recent work is a line inspired by the original comics produced by Eastman & Laird. Although some of the play sets in this line were SDCC exclusives, plans were to eventually sell them at Toys R Us stores later this fall. Thankfully, you won’t even have to wait that long, as they are already selling all four individual figures in the Eastman & Laird TMNT Mega Bloks set on their website right now!

As if it weren’t awesome enough that these TMNT Mega Bloks are now available for purchase, they are also already on sale. Their MSRP is $7.99, but you can buy each figure right away for only $5.99. Even if you don’t have a Toys R Us store in your area, you’ll be happy to know that you can get free shipping if you buy all four turtles at once. There is no telling how popular these figures will be, so you might want to consider picking them up as soon as possible. There have been reports of the Eastman & Laird TMNT Mega Bloks showing up in TRU stores recently, but this was largely YMMV. Now that you can buy them online, there’s no need to worry about whether or not your local store has them in stock!

These figures are designed to look just like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the original Mirage comics. With a black and white paint job and several panels from the earliest comics, it’s hard to deny that these are pretty awesome toys! To be fair, this wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a toy company produce action figures based on the earliest iterations of the Ninja Turtles. Playmates previously produced a set of TMNT toys based on the Mirage comics, and they were pretty darn cool. There have also been a few interesting collector’s items with a similar design. That being said, these Eastman & Laird TMNT Mega Bloks are probably the most affordable toy line to take on this design concept.

Although it wouldn’t appear that the SDCC exclusive sets are available online, there’s always a chance that you might find them in your local Toys R Us store. Until then, at least you can pick up each individual turtle from this awesome toy line!

TMNT Mega Bloks Madness: What Do The Fans Think?

Recently, Mega Bloks released their latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets, proving that they are still a competitor in the market of building block toys. Some fans have even said that these TMNT Mega Bloks sets are of a higher quality than those released by LEGO, which is actually an accurate statement even from an objective point of view. Unlike the LEGO TMNT sets, Mega Bloks gave the turtles die cast shells and several different points of articulation. You can actually pose their TMNT figures to make it look like they are fighting off a group of enemies, which is perfect for both play and display purposes.

Don’t believe me? Well, check out The Black Nerd’s recent review. He’s one of our favorite Ninja Turtles fans, and he makes several excellent points about these TMNT Mega Bloks sets in the following video.

Needless to say, Andre appears to absolutely love these TMNT toys. Oh, and he seriously nails the Krang impersonation, doesn’t he? Suffice it to say that these might even be some of the coolest Mega Bloks that have ever been made. We’ve discussed them before, but now that we can see them in action, it’s difficult to be skeptical about their build quality. I don’t know about you, but those TMNT Mega Bloks look pretty well crafted to me. Of course, that won’t stop some fans from crying foul about certain products in this line, and some of them might actually have a point.

Check out this review from JC’s Toy Vlog. While showing off some of the TMNT Mega Bloks sets, he also decides to rip into a few blind bags to see what he gets. Unfortunately, the results end up serving as a reminder of the potential folly of buying into the blind bag hype. I won’t give away the ending of this video, but let’s just say that there were duplicates aplenty. Some of these TMNT Mega Bloks blind bag figures are actually pretty cool, featuring special face masks and accessories that you might not find elsewhere. However, the mere fact that you might have to buy a bunch of blind bags just to get the figures and accessories you want might be enough to keep some fans from buying the TMNT Mega Bloks sets in this fashion.

These building block toy sets might not be the best you’ll ever find, but they do make some clear improvements over the TMNT LEGO sets that came out a few years ago. While we can’t recommend spending a lot of money on the blind bags, it would appear that the current TMNT Mega Bloks sets available in stores are actually pretty cool. The fans seem to be enjoying them, and we’re happy to see a company doing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys based on both the new Nickelodeon series and the original 1987 animated series.

Turtley Awesome Videos: TMNT Toys, Parodies and More!

It’s been a while since we featured some of our favorite fan made videos about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so let’s take a look at some turtley awesome videos that have hit the web recently. This time around, we’ve got three radical videos featuring subjects as varied as TMNT toys, parodies of the original Ninja Turtles movies and even an entertaining unboxing of the TMNT Box! Without further ado, let’s take a look at our first subject. This is turtley awesome!

Ninja Turtles Play With TMNT Mega Bloks

If this doesn’t immediately bring back memories of the most recent New York Comic-con panel performed by the voice cast of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, perhaps you should go back and watch what Seth Green does for the majority of the event. That’s right, he essentially spends the entire time focused on his Leonardo Mega Bloks set! It’s not difficult to see why he would be so enthralled with these awesome TMNT toys, so it shouldn’t be too surprising to see the turtles themselves checking out the latest Mega Bloks TMNT sets on display at the Toy Fair.

 

Bebop and Rocksteady Discover Tokka and Rahzar

Remember the two mutants that Shredder created in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze? Well, Bebop and Rocksteady sure didn’t know about these two! This hilarious parody pokes fun at the fact that they decided to create two mutants for the movie who were similar to Bebop and Rocksteady, although the story doesn’t end well for Tokka and Razhar. It’s bad enough that these two only really got noticed in that one movie, but now we’re just putting them out to pasture? Thankfully, Out of the Shadows features the two big mutant baddies that everyone is familiar with, so there shouldn’t be too many complaints this time around.

 

Michelangelo Opens TMNT Box With Fan

We’ve done our own unboxing of the TMNT Box, but now you can see what it’s like to open up this box of Ninja Turtles goodies for yourself! The approach these fans take to their videos is absolutely hilarious, as a stuffed Michelangelo toy joins them for the duration of the video, and even gets to try on one of the items in the TMNT Box. Needless to say, these shellheads were pretty pleased with what they got, even if one of the items they received happened to be something they already had. Hopefully next time they won’t get any repeats!

Mega Bloks Unveils New TMNT Sets at Toy Fair 2016

When Mega Bloks announced last year that they would be creating several lines of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys, the news was met with both confusion and cautious optimism. Fans were confused about why LEGO wasn’t making TMNT sets anymore, and they didn’t know how to feel about the fact that Mega Bloks now has the license. For some, it was easy to be optimistic when they saw that there were plans for at least three different iterations of the Ninja Turtles. Something tells me that even these fans weren’t expecting the company to go as far with the franchise as they have with these latest Ninja Turtles sets.

As if you couldn’t tell by now, one of the major sets on display at this year’s Toy Fair was the original Technodrome. Although some fans weren’t impressed with the new Technodrome play set being produced by Playmates for the new movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, something tells me these same fans probably wouldn’t take as much of an issue with this particular TMNT toy. After all, it’s based on the original animated series and even features stickers with notable villains. In addition to the set itself, it would appear that this Mega Bloks Technodrome will also potentially come with Krang and a few Mousers.

As if this awesome Technodrome toy alone weren’t enough to get you excited, there were also a plethora of other new TMNT Mega Bloks on display, including some based on the new movie. In particular, one set features Rocksteady in a tank, which is taken directly from the first trailer for Out of the Shadows. The tank looks pretty darn awesome for a toy made out of building blocks, and I get the feeling that fans of all ages are going to love that particular set. In addition to this, we also find Rocksteady on his motorcycle, another toy set based on scenery taken directly from the trailers for the new film from Paramount.

But wait, there’s more! If you watch the video above, you’ll note that there are a few black and white TMNT Mega Bloks there as well. Yep, they’re doing a set based on the original comic book versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Oh, and then there’s the Party Wagon from the original animated series. To be honest, there’s so much going on here that I doubt I could accurately touch on it all in just one article. I mean, their play set for Out of the Shadows looks to include a new form of Mouser, which suggests that we might get Mousers in the movie.

It’s safe to say that Mega Bloks has truly gone all out with this franchise, and they are really buckling down to give the fans as much as possible. What do you think?
