Good Smile Opens Pre-orders For James Jean Inspired Bebop Statue

It’s been almost a year since we discussed Good Smile’s plans to release a series of TMNT Villain statues. We’ve been following the progress of these collectibles since they were first announced, and we are happy to say that you can now pre-order the Bebop statue. This definitely isn’t the same warthog you remember from the original animated series! Although the design might be partially based on that interpretation of the character, his pink mohawk and much more menacing stance reveal that this is a much different version of Bebop.

Much like their previous TMNT collectibles, this Bebop statue is based on the stylistic work of James Jean. As a matter of fact, Good Smile is currently providing a special offer for anyone who pre-orders all four villains in this set. Anyone who obtains all four figures will be given a code that can be redeemed for an exclusive limited edition aluminum print of Jean’s original artwork. What better way to display these figures than in front of the painting that inspired their creation?

The Bebop statue is currently available for pre-order at the price of ¥18,000, which translates to roughly $158–$159 in US Dollars. Pre-orders will be open until March 2nd, 2017. If you want to pick up this awesome TMNT statue, we recommend ordering ASAP. Rocksteady and Krang will be the next figures released in this line, but we don’t know when they will be announced. With New York Toy Fair coming up this weekend, there’s a very real possibility that we might at least see the unpainted villains on display.

Thankfully, even if you’re not currently residing in Japan, chances are that you’ll still have an opportunity to get your hands on this TMNT collectible. Good Smile is currently selling pre-orders for their Shredder statue on Amazon for only $179.99 – which might be a bit more than what you’d pay overseas, but when you factor in the costs of shipment and customs, it’s actually a pretty good deal. There’s a very real possibility that they will continue this practice with their Bebop statue in the coming months, so you don’t necessarily have to worry about pre-ordering these TMNT statues as they are released.

Good Smile Reveals Plans for TMNT Villain Statues

You may remember Good Smile from their work on a set of exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles statues based on the art of James Jean. It would appear that this line of statues sold quite well, because the company has also decided to start working on a line of TMNT villain statues as well. During SDCC 2016, they revealed two of the models for their new line, including both Shredder and Bebop. If the image on the poster is an accurate representation of what to expect, we can look forward to Rocksteady and Krang figures as well.

Good Smile is known for producing high quality statues, and it would appear that this tradition is going to continue with these TMNT villain statues. Although they don’t yet have a paint job, the Shredder and Bebop statue both look incredibly detailed. That being said, the lack of paint would indicate that they are in the early stages of development. If that is the case, chances are that we won’t be seeing these TMNT statues any time soon. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say that these collectibles might find their way to the market by Q4 2017.

Unfortunately, beyond the statues on display and the poster promising even more, we really don’t have much information about this new line from Good Smile. At this stage in development, it’s hard to say when they will be released or what their price point will be. It’s worth noting that the James Jean statues originally sold for about $100-$130 per figure, which is a fairly decent price. Unless these newest statues are much bigger or more detailed than their previous work, chances are we will see a similar pricing structure for this line as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard more about these statues at the New York Toy Fair next year. As always, we’ll keep you posted whenever we discover more information about these awesome TMNT collectibles!

New Bebop and Rocksteady Statues Coming From Vault Productions

If there was one thing that most fans can agree about when it comes to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, it’s Bebop and Rocksteady. Paramount and Platinum Dunes did an excellent job of recreating these characters for the big screen, carefully crafting the design of each mutant so that they both looked very similar to their original cartoon counterparts.

If you enjoyed this interpretation of our favorite mutant henchmen, there is no doubt that you’ll be tempted by these Bebop and Rocksteady statues from Vault Productions. As you can tell, these aren’t the bumbling buffoons we grew up with. Vault Productions has clearly been working on these designs for quite some time, and they are pretty darn authentic.

Whether you liked Out of the Shadows or not, you’ve got to admit that these Bebop and Rocksteady statues represent perhaps the best looking and most highly detailed design for each character that we have ever seen available on the collectible market. It’s obvious that a lot of effort was put into the creation of these TMNT statues, and something tells me that fans are really going to love the end result.

Set for release in December 2016, chances are that these Bebop and Rocksteady statues will be coming out around the same time as Out of the Shadows will be released on home video. You can pre-order your own set right away, or set up a payment plan to pay for each statue in installments.

Thankfully, the price on these statues is a little more merciful than what you will find with other TMNT collectibles, as each henchman will run you a total of $369.99. That’s still a lot of money to spend on Ninja Turtles merchandise, but considering the high quality of these collectibles, it’s definitely worth the price.
