TMNT: Out of the Shadows Gets Release Date

A few weeks ago, we revealed some of the more interesting aspects of the new TMNT game being produced by Activision, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Since then, we’ve been awaiting the news of just when we could expect this game to finally be released. Well, thanks in part to Microsoft’s Major Nelson, it has recently been confirmed that the game will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and Steam on August 28^th. The game will also be released on the PSN roughly a month later, on September 24^th. For the low price of $14.99, you can expect a lot of shell-raising action from this Ninja Turtles game, as it has been compared to titles like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Sleeping Dogs. With stealth elements, an upgrade system and collectible items, it’s needless to say that we’re stoked about this one.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was originally slated for a release shortly after E3, but the date was presumably pushed back so that they could work on a few things and make the game more of a solid title. We’re not sure exactly what they’re working on, but if recent gameplay trailers are any indication, this TMNT game is shaping up to be totally awesome. Sure, it’s just a small title being released as a download across the many platforms, but the amount of effort that has gone into this game in such a short amount of time is quite impressive. Don’t forget that it wasn’t until earlier this year that Activision even received the licensing rights to produce games for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles library. Considering that they’ve been working on the game for six months at most, it’s quite an achievement to have come this far.

It’s easy to see that a lot of love for the TMNT went into the making of this game. With the launch of the game less than two months away, I think we can start to get excited about this release, even if it doesn’t exactly look like the kind of Ninja Turtles game that we’re familiar with. They definitely tried to do something new and different with this title, but that doesn’t mean it will be bad. Who knows?
