Top 5 Revelations From Season 2 Finale of Nickelodeon’s TMNT

by Justin W

Now that the second season has officially wrapped up for Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, fans are getting amped up for the third season to start – and they won’t have to wait long, because it’s starting next week! If you haven’t seen the two part season finale for Season 2, do yourself a favor and go check it out on Nickelodeon’s TMNT site, as the last few episodes of the season are currently available absolutely free for streaming (as of September 28th, 2014).

If you thought Season 1 had a pretty awesome finale, you might just be blown away by what happens this time around. Not only were there moments that made me happy as a long time fan of the Ninja Turtles and science fiction in general, but there were also concepts introduced that I had never expected to see in Nickelodeon’s Ninja Turtles. Needless to say, this is definitely a must watch if you’re any kind of Shellhead. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the coolest revelations that we learned about during the last few episodes of Season 2. If you haven’t seen any of Season 2 yet, you might want to check it out before reading this article, because there will be spoilers.

1. Michelangelo is At Home in Dimension X

In episode 24, Michelangelo enters Dimension X ahead of his brothers in a desperate attempt to save his friend Leatherhead. When his brothers eventually find him, they discover that he has adapted to the overall atmosphere of the dimension and really knows how to kick some butt. For once, Leo, Raph and Donnie are all forced to let Mikey take the lead, as he knows what it takes to get the job done in an alternate dimension. It figures that he would be right at home in an entirely different dimension, because he’s often treated like an outcast in his own.

2. Time Works Differently In Dimension X

Speaking about the revelations of episode 24, another important bit of trivia that we discovered is that time doesn’t work the same in our dimension as it does in Dimension X. Despite only having been there for a few moments in Earth time, when his brothers jumped in after Mikey in order to save him, they discovered that much more time had passed in Dimension X. This was also touched on when they found that Leatherhead looked much older than before and he explained that it was due to the time difference. Later, when expressing that it would take a few more months for the Kraang to start invading Earth, Donnie explained that this would be akin to 1 or 2 more days in their dimension, thus leading perfectly into the season finale.

3. Irma is Actually Kraang Subprime

Boy, I sure hope you actually listened to me when I said that there would be spoilers, because it would suck to read about this before seeing the series finale. That’s right, April’s friend Irma – who has been in the presence of the Ninja Turtles before, but never actually saw them – was actually a pretty powerful Kraang bot the whole time. Even more surprising was when we heard Gilbert Gottfried’s voice emerging from the scarred face of the Kraang inside Irma, known as Kraang Subprime. Who could have possibly seen this coming? Talk about your wild twists and turns!

  4. Did The Shredder Literally Just Kill Splinter?

One of the most shocking scenes during the finale took place after The Shredder threatened to kill Splinter’s sons, after which an intense battle began. Although Splinter held his own throughout most of the battle, he had already fought off Kraang Subprime and overcome so many challenges that he simply couldn’t hold out. Eventually, Shredder tossed his body into a swirling cesspool of disgusting sewer water that was draining out. Even if he was still alive, he could have drowned. Raphael was livid and did everything he could to save his sensei, but there was nothing he or any other turtle could do. That being said, we never actually saw a scene which definitively expressed that Splinter had passed away, so we’ll have to wait until the 3rd Season to see what happens next.

5. The Kraang Created Human Beings

This was the one that really threw me for a loop and was definitely interesting to hear. During an altercation with the turtles, Kraang Prime informed them that they had used the mutagen from Dimension X on apes in order to create human beings, which would mean that they were behind one of the most significant examples of evolution in the history of our world. This kind of changes everything, and it makes you look at the Kraang from a different perspective. Even if they are evil, and even if they have no right to destroy our world, the fact that they were behind the creation of the human species does explain why they would feel that they have a right to use Earth and human beings however they wish.

These are obviously some pretty big bombshells that got dropped on us at the last second during the last three episodes of the season. That being said, we’re sure that the fans will have their own favorite moments from this epic finale, and we want to hear what they are! Let us know what your favorite revelation was in the comments below, or go in depth in our forums and give us your thoughts on what’s going to happen to our beloved heroes in a half shell during Season 3.

It’s been a wild ride watching Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it looks like the best is yet to come. Here’s hoping that Nick’s TMNT continues to shock and surprise the fans with an excellent story, brilliant humor and tons of references to sci-fi and geek culture. Stay tuned for more Ninja Turtles in Season 3, starting on October 3rd!

Actually splinters not dead as the final scene was karai grabbing him and laying him out of the water then tapping him. He moaned showing hes severely injured but still alive. Also them going to aprils summer house in the country with a wounded unconscious turtle was a great nod to the first movie even if it was leo instead of raph this time

I believe in the original comic it was Leo who was wounded while headed to kacie jones Country House. I may be wrong tho.

That’s right. I’m pretty sure it is.

In the latest IDW comic (and likely earlier additions) the turtles head to North Hanpton to recover. You will notice that the highway sign showed North Hamlton as well. In the IDW comic it is April’s parents cottage/home. I also liked the nod at Leo being thrown through the window injured. That has been done a few times in the comics and movies (Raph in movies).

No you are right he was the one wounded, and Splinter was worried that he wouldn’t heal mentally rather than physically

I thought it was made pretty clear that Snake-Karai saved Splinter? She scooped him out of the water, nudged him, and Splinter moaned. Pretty much tells me Splinter is A-ok.

Well, it’s up to interpretation, but I personally hope that you’re right! 🙂

I’m not sure how this is up to interpretation? It clearly showed Splinter alive and being saved by Karai. It almost sounds like the writer of this article missed that entire scene.
