If there is any news about turtles, you will find it here. From folklore from different cultures to the Renaissance artists who are the Turtles namesakes, anything you could ever want to know are the realities behind the TMNT you can learn here. Cowbunga, this stuff is totally bodacious dudes!
Today, Mondo has released two new limited edition collectible posters, TMNT: Rise of the Turtles.
If you were still wondering whether or not the Technodrome would make an appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, this may be the best evidence yet. After all, why would they make a Technodrome playset if the vehicle wasn’t in the movie? I guess it wouldn’t be the first time we had seen such a shameless cash grab, but something tells me that we’re seeing these Krang toys because they will be in the final product.
Fans of the original animated series will probably remember the first Technodrome playset from back in the day, and they may be surprised to find that this set is very similar in design. Sure, the eyeball on top is now gone, but it’s still a circular vehicle that looks very similar to the original concept for Krang’s evil lair. Although it’s nice to see this, it’s also interesting to note that this playset looks to be about the same size as its original counterpart.
Does this mean that the Technodrome will be smaller or have a different appearance in Out of the Shadows? Well, perhaps it’s not exactly like the vehicle that most TMNT fans are familiar with. In Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the boys take control of Kraang ships on a few occasions, and sharp eyed viewers may notice some design similarities between the inside of this TMNT playset and the inside of those Kraang vehicles. What we could be looking at here is a combination of styles from both old school and new school TMNT.
Ultimately, we won’t know more about Krang’s presence in the film until we see or hear it directly from the source, either via trailers or the filmmakers themselves. That being said, it’s nice to see that the Technodrome is making some kind of an appearance once more in toy form. In addition to the Technodrome playset, Playmates also unveiled a nice selection of toys and vehicles attached to the new movie, including motorcycles for Bebop and Rocksteady and a City Sewer playset.

Well, if this doesn’t count as an announcement of the game, I don’t know what does. Mere hours after unveiling the new website attached to the game, and before the timer on the site even reached zero, Platinum Games released the trailer for Mutants in Manhattan on Youtube. I guess when the whole world knows you’re up to something and the cat’s out of the bag, you’ve got to work fast to maintain the hype attached to your project. Now that we’ve seen an official trailer for the game, let’s talk about a few of the more important details on display.
First of all, let’s get the design out of the way. Yes, this game features the same kind of cel shaded graphics that were used to create Transformers: Devastation and have become a popular choice for games like Borderlands. Although some people do not like this graphical style, it has worked quite well for several different video game franchises and in this case, it could serve to accentuate the graphic novel origins of the franchise. There may still be fans who do not want to see this kind of presentation from a TMNT game, but somehow I doubt they will be in the majority.
In addition to this aspect, we can also see that the turtles will be joined by a lot of enemies, many of whom have never been in another TMNT video game before. This has the potential to attract a lot of fans who are familiar with the franchise and want to see some of their favorite characters represented in a digital format. Oh, and did I mention that unlike other Ninja Turtles games, it would appear that Mutants in Manhattan actually has a deep and engrossing story? Okay, so maybe the arcade games had a paper thin plot, but nothing on the scale of a fully planned out Triple-A title such as this.
Suffice it to say that I, like many TMNT fans right now, am absolutely psyched about this game. Thankfully, as the trailer says, we won’t have much longer to wait, since the game is slated for release this summer. They probably want to release the title as close to the new movie as possible, so we might even see it as early as June. Mutants in Manhattan will be a multiplatform title available on both Xbox and Playstation consoles.

Although the first images of this action figure were fairly small and out of focus, we now finally have an up close look of the Krang toy that has been giving fans an idea of what to expect from the character in the new movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Several fans have noted that the experience of learning about the characters through unintended leaks of promotional material and merchandise designs is reminding them of the events that took place before the release of the first film.
Back in 2014, there were mere months before the film was planned for release and fans were clamoring for more information. It wasn’t until we saw images of the Halloween costumes planned for release during the fall of 2014 that we got a better idea of what to expect from the movie. There are definitely parallels to be made between the promotional efforts of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel Out of the Shadows, but I think it’s fair to say that they’ve done a much better job this time around. Whereas we hadn’t even discovered what the turtles looked like until a few short months before the release of the 2014 TMNT movie, filmmakers actually came right out and discussed a lot of their plans for the sequel shortly after it was greenlit.
For example, we’ve known about the presence of Bebop, Rocksteady and Casey Jones in the script since 2014. In addition, we’ve already seen a trailer for Out of the Shadows, which was unveiled roughly 7 months before the planned release of the film – an improvement over the last film, which didn’t see a trailer until a few months before the film’s release. It can’t be denied that the media surrounding Out of the Shadows has been much better than what we experienced while anticipating the first TMNT movie, but that doesn’t mean the fans are going to be more patient.
If there’s anything one can say about Ninja Turtles fans, it is that they are absolutely tenacious. You guys are unlike any other fan community, in that you aren’t going to wait for the media elite to carefully dole out bits and pieces of information about your favorite subject. No, when it comes to the turtles, fans will do everything in their power to discover as much information as possible about a project before it is actually released. For evidence of this, one only needs look at the recent debacle in regards to the new game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan. The title hasn’t even been officially announced yet (as of the writing of this article, although we are aware that is changing soon), but we already have several screenshots and details about its achievements.
Well, let the extrapolation of data continue with this awesome Krang toy. Although the first image only gave us a sense for what to expect, now we can see that Krang actually comes packaged outside of his Mandroid, revealing that he won’t be confined to the device and that his design hasn’t changed too drastically from what the fans are most familiar with. This TMNT toy looks exactly like Krang, and that’s excellent news for any fan of the franchise.
The response to this particular image has been fairly positive, but I’m sure we’ll still run into a few people who don’t like the design. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
That’s right, the Batman/TMNT crossover comic has sold so well that they’ve officially given the okay for a second printing. This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, because the first issue alone was the 4th highest selling comic of December 2015.
When you’ve got a comic book that sells this well, you’d be foolish not to provide a second print run. Thankfully, this won’t just be your basic reprint, as they have elected to give the second printing some special cover art. This second printing of the popular crossover will feature the original black and white artwork from Freddie E. Williams II on the cover.
This artwork was our first experience with the concept, as it was released alongside the news that Batman would be teaming up with our heroes in a half shell. Needless to say, it’s a pretty awesome cover and it’s nice to see DC Comics giving the fans something special the second time around.
One of the reasons the first issue sold as well as it did was due to the variety of variant covers available at different retailers, so it makes sense to ensure that even the second printing provides a nice variant cover for fans who haven’t yet experienced the comic book.
Word is that the first two issues will get a reprint, but there’s no word on when the second issue will be reprinted. You can expect the first issue to re-enter the marketplace on February 17th at your local comic book shop.
This will be an excellent opportunity for fans who couldn’t get their hands on the first issue before it sold out, but the new cover art will also no doubt draw in a lot of fans who are interested in variant covers. With that in mind, if you want to get your hands on this black and white variant of the Batman/TMNT crossover, make sure to get your orders in as soon as possible.
You might also want to make sure to get your hands on the second issue, as it reportedly features the first battle between the turtles and the Caped Crusader. Who doesn’t want to see that?
