It was recently announced that Nickelodeon’s TMNT would see a new DVD release sometime in the near future. However, details on this release have been somewhat sparse until now. Thankfully, we can now report to you that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rise of the Turtles has an official release date of February 26th, 2013. This means that you’re just a few short months away from getting some new shellraising action into your home video collection! Featuring 6 episodes of the all new series from Nick, this official release will have a run time of 145 minutes and include behind the scenes animatics for each episode as a special feature. In addition to the animatics, the DVD set will also include a karaoke music video to help young ones learn the theme song of their favorite new television show. At an MSRP of only $14.99, this set has got quite a lot to offer. That being said, you don’t have to pay full MSRP, as Amazon already has the title marked down to $11.99 for pre-order!
If you’re a huge fan of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or you have some young fans in the family, this initial release is a must own title, even if you’d rather wait for a full season set. I’m sure we all want the entire first season, but in the world of animated television shows, even popular franchises don’t typically see such a release unless their initial home video titles sell well. What does this mean? If this collection of 6 episodes does not sell well, Nick might not bother putting out a full season set. If you do want to own all of the new TMNT episodes on DVD, do yourself a favor and support the initial release. Doing so will show that there is a real demand for the franchise and that it makes sense to release the whole first season to the market. Of course, if you just want to see individual episodes, Amazon has got you covered there as well! Whether you’re into digital downloads or proper DVD releases, it looks like these heroes in a half shell are ready and waiting to kick some butt.
