Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Intro Revealed

Although several fans are disappointed that Nickelodeon’s TMNT series will soon be coming to an end, the network is prepared to push forward with Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in less than two weeks! This re-branding will represent the final season of the CGI animated series beginning on March 19th. In preparation for the new take on our favorite heroes in a half shell, Nick just released an entirely new introduction which will air before each episode in season five.

As you can see, this intro is quite different from anything we’ve seen during the first four seasons of the show. Some fans have pointed out that it has a bit of a Cowboy Bebop feel to it, and they’ve definitely got a point. The music has also changed quite a bit, taking on a much different style than we had heard from the theme song for previous seasons. It would appear that Nickelodeon really wants to sell the idea of this re-branding, but only time will tell if this makes the final season feel any more special.

For those who are unaware, Playmates Toys actually broke the news that Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will feature four full story archs spread across 20 episodes. The first story is about Super Shredder, and it has clearly already begun. The next three stories feature Usagi Yojimbo, a retro Bebop & Rocksteady and the turtles as Monster Hunters. Personally, I’m sad to see this brilliant television show end, but I’m happy to see the amount of effort they’ve put into making the final season a blast.

Here’s hoping that Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its successor will both be an excellent experience for shellheads everywhere.

Nickelodeon Officially Cancels TMNT Series, Plans Replacement in 2018

Although there have been rumors about the eventual demise of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, nothing had been officially confirmed until now. In a tweet from the official TMNT account owned by Nickelodeon, they announced that there would be an entirely new TMNT series coming in 2018. After being pressed on the issue, they confirmed that Season 5 would be the final season for the current animated series, stating that there are still 20 episodes left which will air throughout 2017.

It’s definitely sad to hear that one of the greatest interpretations of our heroes in a half shell has been cancelled, but at least they have plans to replace it with something a little different. The initial tweet described a 2D cartoon which will replace the current CGI animated series, so we can probably expect a somewhat different look for the turtles. The current working title for this project is “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and it will be co-executive produced by Andy Suriano & Ant Ward.

Suriano is a well known name in the business, having worked on such shows as Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls and The Fairly OddParents. Ward may be more familiar as a producer for none other than Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s clear that they are going to take an alternative approach to the TMNT, but we still don’t know exactly what that will look like. What we do know so far is that they have at least chosen two excellent creative minds to work on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Unfortunately, Nickelodeon hasn’t provided any other details about their plans for the future of this franchise. As such, we are left wondering if any additional talent from the current animated series will be carried over into this cartoon. For a lot of fans, these voice actors have pretty much become the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so it would be sad to see them replaced for the new 2D animated series. I’m sure most of us would also like to see the writers and creators behind Nick’s TMNT take on some kind of role with this project.

Sadly, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next with Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. While we’re waiting, we still have 20 more episodes of the CGI animated series to watch. According to Playmates Toys, the last season will be split up into 4 story archs over the course of 2017. One of these “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” has already begun with Super Shredder’s appearance. Additional plans include a samurai adventure including Usagi Yojimbo, a narrative where the turtles turn into classic monsters, and a short 3-episode story featuring Bebop and Rocksteady.

When I heard that Nickelodeon might cancel the current show, I was left wondering what they were thinking. Given the success of the series, it was confusing to hear such substantiated rumors about the potential cancellation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now that the truth has been revealed, it’s clear that they had a plan to continue working with this franchise all along. Needless to say, I’m very happy to see that the network didn’t just ditch one of their biggest properties!

Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 4 Returns in February

When it comes to how they schedule their television shows, sometimes it can be nearly impossible to figure out Nickelodeon’s line of reasoning. For some reason, they keep splitting up the seasons of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and taking multiple season breaks. They never really explain why they are taking these breaks, but I’m sure there’s some method behind the madness. Without fail, they always come back within a few months to let the fans know when they can expect to see the next episode of TMNT. This time around, they have officially announced that our heroes in a half shell will be returning to finish off the fourth season on February 5th.

In a fun little tweet the other day, Nickelodeon’s TMNT Twitter account broke the news that we would see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return to television in just three weeks. The tweet featured Seth Green (Leonardo) Rob Paulsen (Donatello) Sean Astin (Raphael) and Greg Cipes (Michelangelo) yelling “Cowabunga!”to all of their fans on Twitter. It’s always nice to see this group together, because they don’t always make a lot of appearances outside of the studio. Most of them have other gigs to worry about, but they all love being turtles!



The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will return with the 23rd episode of the 4th season. According to IMDb, the episode is entitled Tokka vs. The World, and promises to be a lot of fun for fans of the series. The 24th episode will air the week after on February 12th, and the following weeks will likely bring the final two episodes of the series. Expect Season 5 to start sometime this spring – potentially right after season 4 finishes up.

Unfortunately, we still have yet to receive confirmation about whether or not the fifth season will be the final appearance of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nickelodeon. It’s still a very real possibility, but something tells me that this would disappoint a lot of fans. As usual, we’ll probably have to wait and see what happens in the future and hope for the best.

Brandon Auman Trashes Spoilers For Season Four Finale

Over the past week or two, it has become readily apparent that Nickelodeon may have prematurely aired the fourth season finale in South Korea. With the holiday season attracting an entirely different kind of viewership in the United States, it’s likely that Nick decided to push this episode back simply to avoid conflicting audiences. Alternatively, it’s also entirely possible that they just wanted to stretch season four out as long as they could. Whatever the reasoning was behind this move, one thing is for sure: we weren’t supposed to know anything about their plans for the season finale until February.

As a matter of fact, lead writer Brandon Auman actually took issue with the fact that spoilers for the season four finale are being shared via social media. His advice reveals the frustration that any creator would have after seeing people spoil their work for others, but he may have been a bit too harsh in his assessment of the situation. According to Auman, this is the approach you should take with potential spoilers:

“If you see spoilers on tumblr please don’t share them, pretend tumblr is like that cursed VHS in The Ring. Crap what am I saying, you kids don’t know what VHS or The Ring is. I have no idea who is posting all of this stuff, but now the spoilers are everywhere. Please don’t share.”


Needless to say, it’s a little rude to suggest that anyone on tumblr is too young to remember The Ring or even what a VHS tape looks like. It’s especially unkind to a lot of the younger fans who currently watch Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That being said, it was clearly just a joke, and I’m sure Brandon Auman didn’t mean to offend anyone with this statement. Auman is a pretty good guy and an amazing creator, so it’s hard to be upset with him over his well deserved frustrations.

Sadly, spoilers are already floating all over the internet, and it will be difficult to avoid them until the final episode of season four is finally released in February. Regardless of the difficulty, we should all do our best to keep from spoiling the finale for ourselves. As usual, you can trust that we’ll do our best to keep from spoiling anything for our loyal readers!

From Fugitoid to Scrooge McDuck: David Tennant Heading to Ducktales

It wasn’t too long ago that we were breaking the news about David Tennant taking the role of Fugitoid in Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As many fans will attest, he definitely brought his A game to the studio when recording lines for Professor Honeycutt. With a total of 15 episodes to his name, Tennant wasn’t just a guest voice actor; his role was important and his performance was excellent. With that in mind, it probably shouldn’t come as too big of a shock that he was recently handed the title role in a reboot of Disney’s Ducktales!

For those who haven’t heard, David Tennant will be voicing the character of Scrooge McDuck in the new Ducktales series. Although he has had recent experience working with Disney on an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, something tells me that his depth of experience on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may have been more of a selling factor. Tennant is perhaps best known for playing the role of Doctor Who, but he has proven himself to be an incredibly versatile actor who is capable of more than just typecast roles.

As the years have gone by, his work as a voice actor has become far more pronounced. Although he will be missed in the role of the Fugitoid, something tells me that even fans of the TMNT will be happy to see him taking on such an iconic character. If you were a fan of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, chances are that you also watched a fair bit of the original Ducktales series. If they can bring back the turtles in fine fashion, what’s to stop them from making a decent reboot of Ducktales?

Here’s hoping that David Tennant proves to be an excellent choice for the role of Scrooge McDuck. It was nice to see him become such an important part of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it’ll be just as fun to see him lead one of the most anticipated reboots of all time in 2017!
