“This…doesn’t seem possible.”
The boys are in the middle of another rooftop training session, only this time April is with them. She’s taken aback by how long it’s lasting, and wants a real mission, but her complaint is interrupted by a psychic premonition of being watched. The five ninjas chase down an investigator named Kurtzman, who reveals to the heroes that he’s been researching the Kraang for some time. As it happens, the aliens have been on Earth for thousands of years, trying to perfect human DNA that can stabilize the mutagen in this dimension. They succeeded with April O’Neil.
Before he can tell them any more, the Kraang arrive with guns blazing. The good guys barely manage to retreat safely, and Kurtzman lets them in on the plan to break into TCRI and wipe April’s genetic code from their data banks. Try as they might to leave her behind, April follows the turtles into the action and they infiltrate a Kraang assembly. April can hear their thoughts, and Kraang Prime informs her minions that the experiment is right on track, and no amount of setbacks will stop them from moving forward. But the information stream is interrupted, when the Kraang notice their intruders.
The battle rages, as the heroes try to escape from TCRI, but in the midst of the firefight, April is captured. The turtles chase after her, only to wind up trapped in a prison cell by an April lookalike. Donatello manages to defeat the imposter, but the real April is nowhere to be found. They make their way to a giant room, which houses many of the same clones and a tank of mutagen, and find themselves face-to-face with a genetic reject. The clone monster attacks the others, while Raphael tries to save April. He’s of no help, though, but as her time seems up, April releases a psychic wave that paralyzes the Kraang and destroys the giant monster. Fighting through clones, the heroes manage to break out of TCRI, and are picked up by Kurtzman. Finally safe at the lair, Donnie figures out the truth about April O’Neil: Her DNA is half human, half Kraang, making her a mutant just like them.
This episode got a lot closer to what should have happened in Season One. There were a few times when April could have had her own
episode, independent of the turtles, where major details of her existence were discovered. But every time, she still played a secondary role to that of the ninjas. Here, she was finally in a primary light – even if she did have to share the role once again. At least this time she was able to learn something useful while also developing her skills. It’s been a long time since April was given a chance to fight, which was certainly good to see.
However, it was a little odd that this was the episode chosen to reveal the entirety of her past and secret present. April’s connection to the Kraang has been building since Day One, and all of a sudden it’s thrown at the audience during an otherwise meaningless episode in Season Two? Something just doesn’t add up here. It almost feels like someone else said “Hey, let’s speed this up.” Or maybe this was the plan all along, and there’s something even bigger planned for later. Either way, it just felt … wrong to have this be the episode where the truth about April O’Neil was revealed.
Overall, it was an okay episode. The big news at the end was certainly an unexpected curveball, but the episode as a whole was nothing special. It’s probably safe to say that Kurtzman will be back, but who knows what role he will play. Let’s just hope that there’s more to April’s relationship with the Kraang than all of this (it would have been great to instead discover that even the turtles’ friend was just a clone of the original), because otherwise it feels really anticlimactic in a lot of ways.

It is a very divisive time in the history of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Most fans are loving the new series from Nickelodeon, but some are still unimpressed. Regardless of the positive information we've received about Jonathan Liebesman's new Ninja Turtles film, many fans remain fervently opposed to the very concept of the movie. In addition to these two major issues, there is a litany of other concerns on the minds of many Shellheads out there. Today, we'll be taking a look at five of the biggest questions on the minds of TMNT fans and wondering just why they have yet to be answered.
5. Will We Ever See Another Good TMNT Game?
The sad fact is that we just haven't seen any really good Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games in a long time. Sure, Out of the Shadows was a pretty good game, but it also came with its fair share of bugs. It's been a long time since we've truly seen anything as excellent as the arcade games of the early 90's, and the fans are getting a little antsy. When we found out that Activision received the license to produce three new TMNT games, our hopes got a little higher, but it would appear that those hopes were misplaced. When will we see another excellent Ninja Turtles game?
4. Where is the Trailer for the Movie?
Jonathan Liebesman's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is set to be released in just 7 months. Most major motion picture releases have a trailer prepared a year in advance, but we have yet to see much of anything for the new Ninja Turtles movie. What's the deal, Paramount? It's usually not a good sign when a studio waits this long to release a movie trailer, as it tends to reflect a lack of faith in the picture. That being said, a studio's faith in a project doesn't always coincide with the actual quality of the film, so it's probably a little early to get worried about the lack of a teaser trailer.
3. Why Hasn't Nickelodeon Released Blu-ray Sets?
Although Nickelodeon has released a few DVD sets of their new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, they have yet to release anything on blu-ray, let alone any full season sets of the wildly popular show. Given the popularity of the new TMNT series, one seriously has to wonder why Nick would snub the fans so badly? Sure, you can rent each episode in High Definition on Amazon, but that's not the same as owning the show on physical media. Perhaps the most perplexing aspect about all of this is that the series has been produced in HD since it began, meaning that it would be relatively simple to put onto a blu-ray and perfect for the format. Regardless of this, Nickelodeon has yet to show any sign of producing a full season set or a blu-ray for the much beloved show. What's up with that? It's almost like we're living in the 90's again with our 3-4 episode VHS tapes from FHE! Come on, Nick – get on the ball!
2. Why Hasn't the 2003 Series Been Released in Full?
Similarly to the lack of Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on DVD and blu-ray, we still have yet to see a full and proper release of the 2003 series. Being that 2014 is the 30th Anniversary of the Ninja Turtles, you would think that the companies involved would be trying to profit off of the TMNT franchise by putting out some new DVD or blu-ray releases, but so far we have yet to see a proper release of this TMNT show. There are many fans who feel that this particular series was one of the better representations of the Ninja Turtles that we've seen, but right now they're stuck collecting OOP releases that are poorly organized and incomplete. When are we going to finally see a proper release of the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show? Well, it doesn't appear to be on the horizon, that's for sure.
1. Will the New Movie Be Any Good?
Needless to say, the number one question on the minds of Shellheads everywhere is whether or not this new film will be any good. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, this film has been kept under wraps for quite a long time after several issues came up at the beginning of the production. First there was a leaked script, then there was the whole “aliens” debacle, and of course the concerns over Megan Fox playing April O'Neil came up as well. This whole sordid ordeal has left many fans with a sour taste in their mouths, but what little we have been able to discern about the film since all of these revelations came to light has actually been fairly positive. After all, now we know that the turtles are not going to be aliens, Megan Fox might just pull off a decent April, and the leaked script was old and not to be trusted. We also have a better idea of what the TMNT are going to look like in the movie thanks to leaked pictures on the net. Although we have yet to see a trailer for the film, many fans have become cautiously optimistic about the new Ninja Turtles. Still yet, I think we're all left wondering whether or not our optimism is misplaced. Will Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie be any good? Only time will tell.
Yesterday, we gave you a look at a giant image of the four Ninja Turtles from Michael Bay's new Turtles movie on what appeared to be a poster for the upcoming June movie. While, we aren't certain if this image from yesterday was some form of poster to promote the release of the film or some display to promote the upcoming toy line associated with the new Paramount Turtles movie, today a Turtles fan sent us a image of what appears to be representative of the new toys for the Michael Bay Ninja Turtles movie.
An interesting thing about this photo is that it almost seems like it was taken to the right of the giant poster/display that we showed you yesterday. It seems like this photo was taken in the same room considering we can see some sort of display with toys on it next to the poster/display image from yesterday. These sure seem like really cool 12" figures of Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, but can these really be images from the new Turtles toy line that will be launched in support of the release of the new Ninja Turtles movie?
