I think it’s fair to say that Turtle Fever has gripped the world once more. We’ve been seeing a lot of branding happening with the turtles as of late, and that doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. Speaking of things that don’t often slow down, the TMNT have now found themselves the focus of their own NASCAR race! Believe it or not, Nickelodeon has teamed up with NASCAR in order to give the turtles their own sprint race entitled the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400.” The Sprint Cup will feature cars with TMNT paint schemes making their way around the track at Chicagoland Speedway this September.

None other than Danica Patrick was on hand to announce the event at Wrigley Square in Chicago. In addition to the announcement, she also brought her car with her, which features a pretty awesome April O’Neil motif. After the event, she actually took a drive in the car down Michigan Avenue, joking about whether or not she would run out of gas before reaching her destination. Fans can expect to see this car – along with many other TMNT themed sports cars – at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 later this year. Needless to say, this is shaping up to be an entertaining event!

Whether you follow NASCAR or not, you’ve got to admit that it’s pretty cool to see our heroes in a half shell represented in such a big way. When I said that the media blitz for the Ninja Turtles had just begun, I had no idea that we’d be seeing something like this! If you want to check out the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 for yourself and you can’t afford to make the trip to Chicagoland Speedway, keep your eyes focused on NBCSN, September 18th at 2:30 PM EST. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see what those other cars look like!
