IDW’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Stopping With #105

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer/artist Sophie Campbell has tweeted that IDW Publishing has instructed her to stop production on the series “for now”, with plans to stop after #105.

“Just got word that production is stopping, so TMNT is done for now,” said Campbell in a tweet. “I’m going to finish up issue 105, then that’s it. See you guys on the other side!”

Issues #105 through #107 have been solicited to come out, starting with #105 on May 6.

It’s unclear when or if production on the series will resume, and if so if Campbell will be involved.

Many publishers are pausing or shifting production schedules due to supply chain interruptions caused by coronavirus, including Diamond Comic Distributors’ ongoing closure.

Garfield/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover coming soon!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will have to order an extra side of lasagna with their pizza soon!

The lazy orange feline from the front of the funny pages Garfield will soon join our mutated shell heads in a multi-platform venture slated to start early 2021.

With news that parent company Viacom has acquired the rights to Garfield, the news doesn’t come as much of a surprise. So far on the table is an ongoing comic series (co-released by Kaboom! and IDW), an animated TV show to air on the Nickelodeon network, and a trilogy of live action films.

While not much is known at time of publication, a cast and director has been announced for the live action movie series.

From the press release-

The film centers around Garfield (Zach Galifinakis), a lazy, lasagna loving house-cat, who suddenly becomes separated from his owner, Jon Arbuckle (Ansel Elgort). While trying to find his way home, he encounters some strange new friends- the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Join Leonardo (Chris Evans), Raphael (Idris Alba), Michelangelo (Pete Davidson), Donatello (Daniel Kaluuya) and their human pals April O’Neil (Ariana Grande) and Casey Jones (Daniel Radcliffe) as they fight past the evil Foot-Clan and Shredder (John Cena) to get Garfield home.

With Tim Burton in the director’s chair and also featuring the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Master Splinter, this adventure is sure to delight families and fans of all ages! 

This adds to the list of popular crossovers for the TMNT. They recently wrapped a very popular comic with Batman which turned in to an animated feature. There is also a crossover with the Power Rangers which fans love!

Next year is heating up to be interesting for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! But just in case you weren’t sure…

Lootcrate Launches TMNT Limited Edition Series

After the success of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed Loot Launcher, Lootcrate has announced a new set of TMNT mystery crates. Each box is loaded with exclusive TMNT merchandise, as well as the prized NECA Toys exclusive figure.

This is a series of 3 limited edition crates with a different theme featuring different versions of the TMNT.

The first crate pays homage to the Mirage comic series. With it, another fantastic exclusive NECA Toys piece. The Shredder features a design based on his original appearance from the Mirage Comics.

I personally love this figure. It’s rare to see merchandise, ESPECIALLY FIGURES, from the Mirage series. This is already a welcome addition to any display shelf.

New York Toy Fair 2020: NECA Toys

New York Toy Fair is where toy companies show off what they have incoming for the next year. Given their place in pop culture, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles always have some great new collections to show off.

Continuing their hit line of figures based on the 90’s films, we get some great additions to the main characters, including (finally) Casey Jones! We also get Raphael in disguise! This looks like an incoming 2-pack, so I’m not sure which retailer it will be exclusive to.

The movie series line is expanding in to the sequel! Super Shredder is getting the NECA treatment in Quarter 3, along with Tokka and Rahza!

The video game line didn’t have many new additions, but they were showing off some of the figures already in production.

The cartoon line is a huge hit, and after the 1/4 scale movie line of figures, it was only a matter of time before the animated characters got the same treatment. Raphael appears to be the first from the cartoon to get the oversize treatment.

Metalhead is incoming as the first character to have their own Ultimates figure.

And the complete set from the 1987 cartoon is an impressive site. Featuring Triceratons, Splinter, April, Casey, Baxter Stockman, and more, the line is a collectors dream.

Look for these 2-packs to sell out of Target stores everywhere soon!

 

NECA Toys consistently puts out some of the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of all time. The attention to detail is impressive and you can tell they love the franchise and the work they do.

New York Toy Fair 2020: Super7

New York Toy Fair is where toy companies show off what they have incoming for the next year. Given their place in pop culture, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles always have some great new toys to show off.

Super 7 has already begun rolling out their TMNT license with ReAction figures and their Ultimates line in stores now.

The ReAction line is getting a big Ninja Turtle expansion, with classic characters appearing for the first time, and old favorites in new get-ups.

Wave 2 of the Ultimates line features a surprise addition. Mutagen Man makes a rare appearance in the adult collectibles market with this 7 inch figure. Add Leonardo, Shredder, and Bebop to the rest of the line, and this wave is sure to sell out fast.
