101 Cheese Pizza Becomes Potential World Record Reality

Whether you enjoyed the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies or not, you have to admit that they have contributed a few interesting concepts to the franchise. In particular, the 2014 film introduced a mythical 99 cheese pizza which some fans have since become enamored with re-creating. Thanks to the inspiration from this film, one such shellhead has gone the extra mile to go beyond the limits of this culinary masterpiece. Scott Rivera – owner of Scottie’s Pizza Parlor in Portland, Oregon – has officially created a 101 cheese pizza.

Whether or not this dish becomes a fixture at his restaurant, he has invited the Guinness Book of World Records to confirm if this may in fact be a record setting pie. As far as we know, this will in fact set the record for most cheeses used on one pizza. Although many people probably thought it was just a fantasy that would never be possible, it’s nice to know that at least one person saw the creative cuisine in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and was inspired to make it a reality.


Of course, Rivera wasn’t the first chef to attempt such a feat. Australian pizza maker Johnny di Francesco had previously achieved a pie with 99 different cheeses, successfully crafting the mythic creation from this TMNT movie. It wasn’t until just recently that Scott went a step further and added one extra cheese as a topping and one in the crust. That’s right, in addition to making this vision a fact, he also made the gourmet cuisine a stuffed crust pizza. I don’t know about you, but I would love to grab a slice of this amazing dish!

If you want to grab some of this 101 cheese pizza, you may need to make your way to Portland, Oregon and head on down to Scottie’s Pizza Parlor. They’re currently selling t-shirts to go along with the potential record setting pie. Now that someone has gone the extra mile to make the Centouno Formaggio, only one question remains: Will we someday see a slice with even more cheese than this? Thanks to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the world of pizza may forever be altered, and the possibilities may in fact be endless.

TMNT Fan Starts Turtle Sanctuary For Thousands of Terrapins

In the past, we’ve talked about the unfortunate results of Turtle Fever. For those who are unaware, sales of turtles typically spike whenever the TMNT franchise becomes popular. This happened once when the original animated series became a hit, and a similar series of events took place after their recent resurgence in the market. The problem is that parents will buy their children baby turtles assuming that they will be easy to care for, but eventually these beautiful animals outgrow their tiny fish tank and their owners no longer know how to keep the terrapins happy.

The result is usually an ecosystem of turtles left in ponds and other areas which are not their natural habitat. Thankfully, there’s at least one shellhead out there who doesn’t want to let down his reptile friends. Michael Butcher, a resident of the English village of Staplehurst, has made it his mission to save as many turtles as he can. So far, he has amassed a collection of over 1,000 terrapins which are kept in his Turtle Sanctuary. In order to house these amazing animals, he has set up a system of customized tanks which include heat lamps, filters, and everything else they need to survive.

Although some of the turtles he receives arrive in rough shape, the pictures of his Turtle Sanctuary reveal that they are looking pretty darn healthy today. Unfortunately, Michael doesn’t receive a lot of donations for this sanctuary, so his service hasn’t yet been recognized as a registered charity. With that in mind, we figured it might help to spread the word about the fine work he is doing in England. If you want to help save thousands of innocent turtles, you can donate to Michael’s JustGiving campaign and provide the funds necessary to care for these wonderful terrapins.

Even if you can’t afford to donate to this cause yourself, simply sharing this article could help the cause. Thousands of turtles need our help, and this Turtle Sanctuary just goes to show that TMNT fans are capable of amazing feats. Here’s hoping that this sanctuary can keep up the good work for years to come!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Coming to Hulu (And Amazon Prime) in May

Although some fans weren’t entirely pleased with what we got from the last Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, others were happy to see characters like Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang on the big screen. Now that it’s been about a year since the film was released in theaters, Out of the Shadows is officially available either physically or digitally on a variety of formats. Unfortunately, there are a lot of shellheads out there who can’t always afford to plunk down $15-$20 for a movie, opting instead to wait and see if it will become available via a streaming service like Netflix, Amazon or Hulu.

If you’ve been waiting until this movie was a little more accessible, you’ll be happy to hear that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will finally be available on Hulu very soon. To be precise, you can expect them to add this film on May 20th, roughly a month from now. I know a lot of fans were probably hoping that Netflix would get the rights to Out of the Shadows, but it looks like Hulu was probably willing to pay a little bit more for the exclusive rights.

For those who may be unaware, these services typically pay for the rights to stream content owned by companies like Viacom. At times, they will even pay a little bit more for exclusivity, which would explain why we aren’t seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows on either Netflix or Amazon. Considering that Hulu has had a pretty good relationship with Viacom over the past few years, it actually makes perfect sense that they would be the first to obtain the rights for streaming this movie.

Does this mean you’ll only ever be able to access Out of the Shadows through Hulu? Not at all! Streaming rights for this type of content typically switch hands several times over the course of a few years — or even months. There’s no way of knowing exactly how long it will take before we see the latest TMNT movie on another streaming service, but you can bet that it will probably happen at some point in the near future.

For now, at least fans who subscribe to Hulu will be able to watch Out of the Shadows. For those who may not be aware, Hulu also has the first three seasons of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Needless to say, this is a pretty good streaming service for anyone who wants to see some shellraising action!

UPDATE: Apparently we were ahead of schedule with this post. It turns out that Amazon Prime will also be streaming Out of the Shadows starting on May 20th! It looks like Hulu didn’t obtain exclusivity after all. This is definitely good news for fans who have an account on Amazon. Unfortunately, Netflix will not be streaming this movie anytime soon. We’ll keep you posted if this changes in the near future.

Nickelodeon Hiring Animators For Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Whether you are yourself an animator or you just want to follow the progress of this show, chances are you’ll be happy to hear that Nickelodeon is currently in the process of hiring creative minds to work on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For those who aren’t aware, Rise is the planned 2D TMNT reboot which is currently scheduled to hit the air in 2018. The latest iteration of our heroes in a half shell will be co-executive produced by Andy Suriano & Ant Ward. Suriano is notable for working on such projects as Samurai Jack and Powerpuff Girls while Ward has been an active participant behind the scenes of Nick’s current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Earlier today, Animation Insider posted a job application from Nickelodeon indicating that they are currently looking for animators to work on the new TMNT reboot. If we’ve got any animators in the crowd, feel free to apply for this position and show Nick everything you’ve got to contribute! The role they are trying to fill is that of a Character Designer, which makes sense given some of the details that have been revealed about Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. According to the initial press release, it seems like Viacom wants to introduce a lot of new characters in this series.

“From the tallest skyscraper to the dankest sewer drain, the Turtles will encounter absurd new mutants and battle bizarre creatures all while enjoying their favorite slice of pizza.”

If they have plans to create a lot of “absurd new mutants” and “bizarre creatures,” it only makes sense that they’ll need to hire on a new Character Designer for the show. Before anyone cries foul, just remember that the original animated series introduced a lot of the characters that we know and love today. There’s plenty of room in this franchise for even more awesome characters, and it’s definitely exciting to see Nickelodeon investing some real money into that.

One of the most interesting aspects of this job posting is something they mention under the Responsibilities section: “Ensure quality & style of show is achieved.” This definitely indicates that Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will have its own unique style, but we still don’t know exactly what it will look like. Some have speculated that Nick will be aiming for a Teen Titans Go approach, but other fans are hoping that Andy Suriano will bring us more of the style we saw from Samurai Jack. Whatever the case may be, it’s very exciting to see Nickelodeon hiring on new animators to make this awesome TMNT reboot.
