Remember the 90’s? Oh, who am I kidding, I’m writing this for a bunch of Ninja Turtles fans – of course you remember the 90’s! It was an awesome time to be a kid, and the turtles were definitely a big part of what made the experience so memorable. It didn’t hurt that one of their biggest fans was Vanilla Ice, who ended up performing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. Considering that the film just celebrated its 25th Anniversary, it would be fitting to see the turtles up on stage with Ice once more, wouldn’t it? Well, that’s where The Today Show comes in.
For the first time in quite a while, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles joined up with Vanilla Ice to dance alongside him as he performed his hit “Ice, Ice Baby” for the show. The intent was to promote a new tour entitled “I Love the 90’s.” Ice has joined the likes of Salt-N-Pepa, Kid n’ Play, Coolio, Tone Loc and All 4 One in a tour that seeks to bring the hip hop and dance music of everyone’s favorite decade back into our lives. The show is quickly becoming a hit all across the country, and it’s not hard to see why when you hear Vanilla Ice spittin’ rhymes like he’s still in his 20’s.
Seriously, he didn’t miss a beat during his performance here, proving that he’s still got the skills to pay the bills. Is that a phrase that people still use nowadays, or am I just getting old? Either way, it’s nice to see Ice on stage with the turtles once again. At the end of his performance, he started singing “Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go” and then provided a quick tribute to Prince. No matter how you look at it, this was a pretty special moment captured on The Today Show.
