Recently Paramount Pictures have decided to push back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature back exactly two months. The original release date of June 6, 2014 has been pushed back to August 8, 2014. Its understood that some of the years best movies are released during Summer time. Summer 2014 is shaping up to be pretty busy so this is somewhat routine.

Some would speculate the TMNT movie release being pushed back due to Michael Bay’s Transformers 4 releasing June 25th. Bay is directing Transformers 4 and producing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, releasing the two features in the same month would be tough.  Any TMNT fan would just want this film to be good in all aspects so this push back should be tolerable.

According to extras working on set, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie produced by Michael Bay is has completed production. Now the film goes into post production for re-shoots, edits, soundtrack, and much more before the final product is released in 2014. The film began production back on April 4th and experienced some delays due to script issues and now production has wrapped up on August 3, 2013.

In other news, details have been revealed on Paramount Pictures marketing plans for the film. A Brazilian website has revealed Paramount is set to market the film in Brazil with Megan Fox in mind to head the campaign. Brazil is not the only country that Paramount plans to market in, they will be revealing more details as the movie gets closer to releasing.

Now get ready for some interesting news!!

Sources have come forward with some minor details of the Ninja Turtles new look. The original leaked script (which caused fan outrage) mentioned the TMNT have more humanoid look than previous incarnations, the looks is said to be noticeably different. Also some on-set images show the Ninja Turtles to be much taller in height than usual. This news was reported back in June so you may maintain a degree of skepticism.

An iconic female figure is poised to make an appearance in the film.

Barely any plot details have been revealed but it is understood Master Shredder’s second in command is set to make an appearance in the film. Karai is known to be General of the Foot clan and is Shredder’s step daughter in some incarnations. Actress/Stuntwoman Hyejin J. is listed on IMDB to be the stunt woman for this character. Considering that the latest TMNT game is being released to Xbox Live in just a few weeks and the new movie is right in the middle of production, there’s obviously a lot going on in the Turtle-verse. With that in mind, let’s take a look at two of the more interesting stories to pop up over the past week.

Truck in background says “Give Blood, Play Hockey.” Casey Jones?

First off, while many fans were aware of this, others might be surprised to learn that one of the Co-Creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be starring in the latest movie adaptation. Kevin Eastman has been given a cameo role in the film, and he just recently took photos from on the set. There’s no news about who he’ll be playing, but I’m sure that clever viewers will be able to pick him out of a crowd. He could play just about any role, but wouldn’t it be cool to see him take on a role similar to the cameos from Stan Lee in recent Marvel films? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where he ends up in the film, eh? That being said, there was something rather interesting about the photos he took on set: They revealed that the set chairs featuring the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” title still exist, which indicates that the movie is still currently set to release under the original title and not the truncated “Ninja Turtles.”

Next, let’s talk a little more about the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. Set for release on Xbox Live at the end of August, this hot new brawler is promising a lot of action we haven’t previously seen in any other TMNT game. In a recent interview with Chris Frechette, the Lead Designer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, ShogunGamer.com really dug deep and got some interesting information about the new title. While many have been confused about the art style for the game, Chris explains that it’s intended to combine both the new with the old:

“We wanted to do a more realistic take on the Turtles… something that hadn’t been done before.  The style came about by finding the right blend of our original concepts by Carlos Huante and the Nickelodeon show.  It was like if we plucked those Turtles out and placed them in a more realistic environment, what would they look like?  Their proportions and certain details like Donnie’s gapped teeth and Raph’s front chest plate crack stayed true to the new show.”
While explaining that Out of the Shadows caters not only to the young, but to the old fans as well, Chris went on to reveal some moments in the game that refer back to the origins of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

“There are a lot of nods to the original comics and movies.  Like I mention early, it was important to get the attention of 30-something year old TMNT fans so paying homage to the past was a must.  I’m a huge Turtle fan myself, so it was a lot of fun incorporating lots of little things, like the team bowling ball attack from the original 90’s movie or the arrangement of the Turtles on the title screen that resembles TMNT #1… Plus some big things which haven’t been announced yet!  But fans of all ages will enjoy.  TURTLE POWER!”

So there you have it! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows not only features elements of the new show, but also elements of the original comics and movies as well. Needless to say, if you’re any kind of TMNT fan, this should definitely pump you up. During the interview, Chris also explained that the game features four chapters and seven different environments, giving you plenty of room to have a lot of fun raising shell in this latest game from Activision and Red Fly Studios. A few months ago, it was announced that Will Arnett would be taking on the role of Vernon Fenwick, a character many fans will recognize from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. This sparked the discussion concerning what the character choices said about the production. Many took this as one of the first signs that the film would be pulling more content from the 80’s cartoon than from other sources, which gave hope to many and left others bewildered. Well, it turns out that this interpretation of Fenwick might actually be a bit different than what some of us were expecting. Allow Arnett himself to explain how his role in the film differs in this interview from CraveOnline.com:

“He’s a character who’s in the comic and in the Turtles mythology,” Arnett said. “He’s sort of a lesser character. He’s a cameraman who in the comics has a more adversarial relationship with April O’Neil, Megan Fox’s character, but for our purposes, Vernon is still a cameraman who’s helping April, works with her. He’s her cameraman and he’s kind of a solo artist. He does his own thing and as April starts to try to figure out who these vigilantes are, who these turtles are and gets involved in the story, she recruits Vernon. He’s reluctant at first,” Arnett continued. “He just wants to get his paycheck and do the easy job and eventually he comes through and starts helping her and goes along for the ride in helping the turtles vanquish the Shredder.”

So there you have it. Instead of being the creep we all remember, it turns out that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie might feature a more friendly, helpful version of Vernon Fenwick. Honestly, I can’t really see this as being that much of a bad thing. As long as he is a dynamic camera man who at least tries to look out for himself first, it will probably still feel like Fenwick to most of the fans. If anything, it’s surprising that they haven’t changed much else about his character. After all, Burne Thompson is now Burnadette, so it’s clear that they’re taking a few liberties with this production. As for the movie itself and the kind of action you can expect, Arnett went on to describe it as such:

“The action is very real and feels [like the kind of thing] we’re used to seeing through the Bourne movies, action that feels really real and hard hitting, like ooh, that looks like it hurt type stuff, and we do that.”

There’s a shocker: A movie being produced by Michael Bay is going to feature a lot of action? What a surprise! It’s interesting that he would describe the action as being realistic, as we’re basically talking about CGI animated turtles as opposed to men in suits who actually know how to fight. We’ll see how much of that is actually true when the film comes out, but until then there is still plenty being left up to speculation. What do you think?
