Loot Crate Capsule TMNT Shirt Collection

I have a ton of TMNT shirts. And I always get excited when there’s a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles design that has a bit more… edge to it.

Yes, I’m aware I sound like a complete jerk saying that. But, please, let me explain. There is a ton of TMNT merchandise out there. It’s a multi-million maybe billion dollar franchise. And 98% of it features the characters from the classic 80’s cartoon. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with that, like what you like, but it only makes me more excited to finally find a design that stands out from the traditional 4-turtle pose.

LootCrate announced a new capsule collection featuring TMNT designs inspired by metal bands. I love it. Each design has a completely different feel and character focus. It doesn’t sacrifice style for quality either, as each shirt feels super soft and has a silkscreen tag, in lieu of the itchy regular tag.

Shredder’s design is based from a Judas Priest album cover. Bebop and Rocksteady form a great parody of the Motörhead logo. The Turtles take from the Glam metal era. And (my favorite) Metalhead’s shirt design borrows from great 80’s thrash metal albums.

Unboxing the Mirage themed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle LootCrate

LootCrate announced a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mystery box series set for release throughout the year.

Each crate would have a specific theme; the Mirage era, video games, and a cartoon theme. The big perk for most collectors is an exclusive NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles not available anywhere else. All of the items are exclusive, but an exclusive NECA figure is a big deal.

These boxes sold out very quickly, but we were able to get our hands on the entire series! The first crate has arrived, so let’s see what came in the Mirage era themed LootCrate.

TCRI T-SHIRT

Up first is an exclusive TCRI T-Shirt. The design is a deep cut for the comics fans, featuring a design for the ‘84 company picnic. It feels like a really good quality, and the design won’t wear out quickly.

TCRI Travel Mug

The same design is featured through most of the products. The TCRI travel cup is BPA free and feels sturdy.

Fugitoid Pin, TCRI Tote Bag, Chet’s Toys Keychain, TCRI ID Card, and TCRI ID Holder

These are what I usually call the “Extras.” But these do stand out from other mystery boxes I’ve received. The keychain is a deep cut and features original artwork from the Mirage series. The Fugitoid pin is an absolute stand out. It’s high quality enamel with instantly recognizable artwork. Fugitoid’s inclusion only makes me hope that NECA makes a figure for him down the line as well.

The tote bag is a bit shallow and awkward. The ID Card and Card holder are fun extras, but nothing to get excited over.

I love this figure. The original set of NECA’s TMNT figures based on the Mirage artwork has become a highly sought after addition to any collection.

Shredder features his classic weapons as accessories, this figure stands out in every way. From his deep purple color way, to the comic style ink shading, every detail on this figure is set to make it a joy for both in box and out of box collectors.

And the box is amazing. Usually, I won’t gush over a box, but matching the original font with original artwork with a foil color over black makes it hard to want to take this from its packaging. In fact, I still haven’t.

Overall, I really love what NECA is doing since taking over LootCrate.

This series is a huge bonus for TMNT fans who have long waited for different versions of their favorite turtles. While the crate definitely had a few “lesser” items, the figure, shirt, and pin alone are well worth the money. The figure is sure to make any future TMNT fan who didn’t get their hands on this jealous. I wish the re-used design featured a character rather than company logo, but I also understand that license rights might be tricky to work out. I like what they’ve come up with for the Mirage series, and I’m already excited for what will come in the next crate.

Lootcrate Launches TMNT Limited Edition Series

After the success of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed Loot Launcher, Lootcrate has announced a new set of TMNT mystery crates. Each box is loaded with exclusive TMNT merchandise, as well as the prized NECA Toys exclusive figure.

This is a series of 3 limited edition crates with a different theme featuring different versions of the TMNT.

The first crate pays homage to the Mirage comic series. With it, another fantastic exclusive NECA Toys piece. The Shredder features a design based on his original appearance from the Mirage Comics.

I personally love this figure. It’s rare to see merchandise, ESPECIALLY FIGURES, from the Mirage series. This is already a welcome addition to any display shelf.

Lootcrate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie 30th Anniversary Box

Lootcrate announced a new kind of mystery crate called “Loot Launcher”, where the crate is only released if enough people pledge to support the mystery box. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle crate promised an exclusive Splinter Spirit figure with the box, and it well exceeded it’s goal.

Foot Clan Patch and Pin

 

This embroidered patch and pin are fun, subtle ways to show your loyalty to the Foot Clan. Put these on and you’ll only get 1 question; Regular? Or menthol? (Don’t smoke, it’s from the movie.)

The Foot Clan continue to make their mark in this box. The logo for Channel 3 News has been tagged and, shockingly, there are no witnesses. It’s a good quality shirt with a fun design. I’m a fan of shirts where only fans would get the reference, and this fits the description.

This is a great addition to your cosplay closet, or an accessory for your toy display!

Spirit of Splinter Figure from NECA Toys

This is definitely a grail piece for most. This alone makes the entire crate completely worth it. “Spirit Splinter” is a fantastic “Movie Moment” figure that perfectly captures this emotional moment in the film. His translucent blue paint makes this figure feel like much more than a repaint of the standard Splinter.

He comes with a bag of marshmallows and a stick to roast around the blue fire pit. You can recreate this pivotal moment (if you collected last year’s wave of figures) with a fire pit that lights up as well. It’s an amazing figure that’s a must have and now very hard to get for any TMNT figure collector.

This new venture from Lootcrate is a great idea and made a ton of fans of the original movie very happy. You absolutely get your money’s worth and everything in the box is made with really high quality. Even the headband, which could have easily been a throwaway product, was made with a lot of care and quality material.
