Just last week we were speculating about the possibility that someone might snap a blurry photo of something related to Nickelodeon’s Rise of the TMNT at BLE 2017. Thankfully, it looks like that is exactly what has happened! Although we still don’t know what the animation will look like, an awesome user on the Technodrome Forums was nice enough to snap a picture of the new logo. After months of waiting, we finally have our first look at promotional material for the latest iteration of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
The logo appears alongside several other notable TMNT logos, selling Rise of the TMNT as “The Next Mutation.” That might be a reference to the live action Ninja Turtles series with the same name, but you’ll notice that they don’t bother to include it with the other logos. This promotional material is also odd simply because some of the dates are incorrect. The logo for the original animated series features the date “1984,” but that was the year that the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book hit store shelves; the cartoon wouldn’t be released until 1987.Ultimately, these mistaken dates aren’t that big of a deal. The important detail is our first Rise of the TMNT logo, and it actually looks pretty darn good. While the logo for Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had more of a linear style, the new series appears to use a much less serious font. There’s no way of knowing whether or not that might tell us something about the direction they are taking with Rise, but it’s a possibility. That being said, it’s important to remember that Nickelodeon could change this logo more than once before the show actually airs.
For all we know, this isn’t the official or final logo for Rise of the TMNT. Although I like what I’m seeing, none of us should assume that this design is set in stone. Until we see something coming directly from Nickelodeon, it will be difficult to comment on design choices that may or may not appear when the 2D animated cartoon is released in 2018. Regardless, it’s always nice to see how these things progress, and it’s exciting to get our first taste of a new series based on our heroes in a half shell!

Hard to see
i am honestly extremely hyped by that logo. I grew up in the early 2000’s and this logo’s style is very reminiscent of that era. The main bits i get from this logo are 2 very important details that give me a lot of excitement for this series.
1. to me this logo represents the feel of the show pretty clearly. I was worried they might have been going for a teen titans go approach but i feel this logo removes that fear. This logo greatly reminds me of shows like Ben 10 and the original Teen Titans. I’m sure this show will have a comedic side but i sense it will still have a deep over-arching story like we’re used to. And for that I am very thankful. The fact that we know this show will be 2D really supports my theory because some of the best 2D shows of the 2000’s had logos similar to this.
2. The other thing I get from this logo is that Nickelodeon still has a lot of faith in the franchise, and plans on investing the same amount of money and attention as the 2K12 series. For this I am also very grateful. I had a feeling Nick was losing faith in TMNT and that was why they were switching to 2D because they wanted to create a cheaper alternative. However I now believe the animation change is a product of two factors. One being that they want to create an edgy 2D action cartoon in the same vein as some of my favorite shows from the 2000’s. The other being that Nickelodeon’s animation department has changed drastically since the launch of the 2K12 series. When 2K12 launched Nickelodeon was primarily focused on 3D animation such as “Fanboy and ChumChum” and “Planet Sheen”. Since then Nickelodeon has completely revamped their animation department, complete with a massive new studio. Since the completion of the new studio Nickelodeon seems focused on 2D animation such as “The Loud House” and Welcome to the Wayne.
Whew! I’m prolly reading way too much into that but that’s what I gather from this.
TURTLE POWAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was the 2003 series just a fever dream all of the fandom had at some point or what’s the reason that it’s never included in anything? XD
New logo looks pretty nice, tho.
you’re welcome for the information, TMNT fansite
I am kinda disapointed the screwed up on the logo’s, because if I am reading that correctly they essentially used the 1987 show logo as the original comic logo, and they used a copy of the 2012 logo in place of the original 1987 logo. So either Viacom has somebody who is not doing their jobs correctly, or it is fake, which I highly doubt since I have seen the mistake before. Second why do I feel like I am the only person who is saddened by the fall of the 2012 incarnation? I’m willing to give the 2018 one a chance, but even though the logo is not that bad, my gut is telling me otherwise. PS. Excuse my spelling/grammar did not have time to spell check.
I am sad about the 2012 TMNT one too. I don’t want it to end. I cried when I figured out that it is going to be over😢.
