Out of the Shadows Toys Hint at Krang’s Appearance

The web was abuzz the other day with the first leaked images of packaging related to the new action figure series planned for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Earlier this week, we revealed the first images of the new party wagon, which definitely looks like a lot of fun. Within just a few short hours, the next big reveal got leaked onto the web, and it was a big one: a picture of the new Krang action figure.

Previously, we still weren’t entirely sure whether or not Krang would even appear in the movie. Sure, one of the producers said something to that effect and we saw what appeared to be pieces of the Technodrome in the trailer, but we still hadn’t seen any images of Krang actually appearing in Out of the Shadows. Now that we know they have designed an action figure for the villain, it would appear pretty darn likely that he is in this movie. As a matter of fact, I would say that the combination of evidence we have seen thus far is enough to rest assured that we absolutely will see the creature from Dimension X at some point.

With that being said, fans appear to be torn on the appearance of this Krang toy. Yes, he is in a Mandroid of some sort and looks a lot like he did in the original cartoon, but there are a few odd choices to talk about here. First of all, the Mandroid looks a bit more like a robot than a man, which might turn off a few fans who took issue with the robotic appearance of Shredder in the first movie. Second, if these toys are all to scale, he looks to be about the same size as Bebop and Rocksteady, which seems a bit off.

Of course, it’s worth noting that I don’t think these action figures are actually to scale, or at least these images of the figures are not properly scaled. After all, Bebop and Rocksteady are pretty big in the trailer, but here they appear to be about the same size as a foot soldier. That scale is a bit off, so I doubt these are entirely accurate representations of what we will see in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

Aside from these first images of the new Krang toy, we also get a good look at Rocksteady, Bebop and the Foot Soldier. Depending on how you feel about each character, I’m sure you’ll have a different opinion on how these TMNT toys look. Personally, I think they all look fairly decent, and I’m happy to see that the foot soldier is carrying a sword instead of a gun. These definitely aren’t perfect re-creations of what we saw in the original animated series, but I doubt that the main audience for these toys will really be concerned with that.
