If there is one thing that can always be guaranteed, it’s that TMNT fans support the writers, directors, artists, actors and actresses, etc., that helped make the franchise great. Even support for other fans that are doing whatever they can with what talents they possess is incredible, and shows that when it really matters, a collective can come together and show positivity. So when someone who left a positive impression on the TMNT universe is in need of help, it’s only likely that fans will rally around said individual and do whatever they can to show support.
A few days ago, news broke that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze star Ernie Reyes, Jr. (who played Keno, the pizza delivery boy and confidant to the turtles) is in trouble. Mr. Reyes is suffering from kidney failure, and is currently in and out of the hospital three to times per week, four hours per day for dialysis treatment. The 43-year-old actor is in need of a kidney transplant.
Though currently undergoing treatment and while the exact cause of his condition is unknown (and ultimately irrelevant for support), Mr. Reyes is still looking positively toward the future, as evidenced by a recent photo on Instagram – “#Nevergiveup and #motivationMonday.” However, that doesn’t mean Keno isn’t in need of support. To that extent, his sister has created a GoFundMe campaign on his behalf.

The campaign, linked HERE, is looking for any help that friends, family, TMNT fans, students, and anyone else can give to help support the insurmountable costs associated with treatment and the hopeful kidney transplants. “Regardless of where you have seen or heard of Ernie Reyes Jr., he has impacted peoples’ lives all over the world through his extraordinary performances in television and film. Please be aware that he needs support during this time of need and recovery of his life,” said his sister, Destiny Reyes.” The goal of the endeavor is to raise $75,000 for a transplant fund, and as of Sunday June 14th, $53,841 of that goal has been accumulated. However, there’s still a long way to go before everything is where the family would like it to be.
It’s always sad when a fan favorite is in trouble. Some of those closest to these beloved franchises fall off the radar, yet still have successful lives, and are always remembered for their involvement, dedication, and awesomeness. Ernie Reyes, Jr. is no different. During this difficult time in his life, he deserves whatever support the TMNT community can give him.
