Funko Announces Tons of New TMNT Toys
It’s about that time of year when toy companies start to unveil their plans for upcoming toy lines. We’ve already seen plenty of announcements from Playmates, but what about Funko? After releasing their first line of TMNT Pop Vinyl figures last year to the praise of many fans, you’d figure that they have something up their sleeves for this year as well – and you’d be absolutely correct. Not only will they be releasing their second line of Ninja Turtles Pop Vinyl figures, but they will also be releasing two entirely new lines based on our heroes in a half shell: Mystery Minis and Wacky Wobblers!
Funko’s new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mystery Minis will hope to cash in on the popularity of mystery bags, giving fans the opportunity to grab a box for a few bucks and surprise themselves with what lies inside. Featuring 12 characters to collect, this set of small vinyl figures is likely to hit store shelves sometime in July. Although there is no official MSRP as of yet, pricing for an entire display box suggests that you can expect to pay anywhere from $5 to $6 for one of these cool little vinyl figures. This line of TMNT toys is based on the original 1987 cartoon series, featuring notable characters like Beebop, Rocksteady and even an old school foot soldier.
In addition to this awesome new line of miniature vinyl toys, Funko will also be bringing us a set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Wacky Wobblers. These are essentially bobbleheads, and if these pictures are any indication, they are totally awesome! The design is once again clearly inspired by the original animated series from the 80’s, with each turtle featuring their original lettered sashes around the waist. In addition to the turtles, this line will also include Shredder and Splinter, both looking as great as they did in the original series. You can expect this line of totally awesome bobbleheads to hit store shelves in August.
Finally, to close things out, Funko’s second line of TMNT Pop Vinyl figures will include several characters not featured in the original line. For those who have collected every character in the first series of Ninja Turtles Pop Vinyl toys, you’ll be glad to know that series two will be releasing this summer with April O’Neil, Bebop, Rocksteady and an old school Foot Soldier.
Needless to say, all of the designs on display here are pretty awesome. Funko continues to put out excellent quality vinyl figures for a variety of franchises, and it is very nice to see them paying some proper attention to the boys in green. What do you think?
