TMNT Could Make it Into the Hall Of Fame

by Zach Gasior

Did you know there is a Hall of Fame for toys? Well, there is! It’s called the National Toy Hall of Fame, and to date they have inducted 51 toys. Included in their list of the most popular toys of all time are familiar names like Radio Flyer, LEGO, Crayola and others. These toys are the best of the best, and guess what? They’re currently in the middle of inducting another toy. Among names such as Chess and Nerf, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy line is also being considered. More importantly, they are currently running a poll to gauge everyone’s favorite toy on the list, and TMNT is currently leading the pack with 24% of the votes!

Post by Kevin Eastman.

In a Facebook post a few days ago, Kevin Eastman pointed out where the turtles were on that list and linked to the online poll. Just so we’re clear here, it’s a pretty safe bet that the inductee isn’t going to be chosen based on whether or not it’s a fan favorite, but it does say a lot about just how famous our heroes in a half shell have become. After all, they’re beating out some of the most beloved toys and games of all time, including Pac-man and My Little Pony! Considering the recent popularity of Friendship is Magic, it should come as no surprise that those pesky little ponies are currently sitting at 21% and threatening the results for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If you want to jump in and ensure that the TMNT win the poll for the favorite toy being considered for induction into the Toy Hall of Fame, you can vote in the poll now and make your voices heard.

With the Ninja Turtles toy legacy continuing on today with a slew of great new products from Playmates, it’s no wonder that our favored heroes have found their way onto the short list for such a prestigious title. After all, there are few toys that have the staying power of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Many of those toys are on that list, but few are as popular today as they once were. In terms of sheer resilience in the market, it’s clear that the TMNT belong on this list and they belong in the Hall of Fame. What do you think? Which toy should win the honor of being inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. The induction will take place on November 7th, so get your votes in while you still can!
