A Fun and Eye Popping TMNT Box Review – June 2017
Every month seems to bring something new and unexpected from the TMNT Box. Although you can usually predict at least one or two of the items included, you never know when they’ll decide to switch things up. This month is a perfect example of that approach, as the brilliant minds behind this subscription box have foregone the typical t-shirt in favor of something that few fans could have seen coming. As if that weren’t awesome enough, they also included a toy that just about anyone can enjoy. Needless to say, this month’s offerings were quite a surprise!
TMNT Pop-up Book
Instead of sending us yet another shirt for our ever growing collection of turtley awesome clothing, TMNT Box has decided to go with something a little different. This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pop-up Book is actually very high quality, using incredibly sturdy paper in order to create the illusions that appear as you flip through the pages. My favorite page is a fold out of Michelangelo which actually shows his nunchaku spinning. Needless to say, the artwork and story are based on Nickelodeon’s interpretation of our heroes in a half shell. As for value, you might be surprised to find that this TMNT Pop-up book is actually worth about $20 on the open market. Considering the box itself is only $10, that’s a pretty good deal!
TMNT Fidget Spinner
Given the recent popularity of these toys, it probably shouldn’t be too surprising that TMNT Box decided to include one with their latest package. The second I saw this tucked into the pages of my new pop-up book, I figured the printed Ninja Turtle face probably wouldn’t last for long. To my surprise, I’ve spent the last week spinning this thing repeatedly throughout the day and the print has yet to experience any scratches or indication of potential fading. This might just be your basic, run of the mill fidget spinner with a TMNT theme, but it’s definitely good enough to put in your collection.
Last month, we got our first look at what now appears to be a series of TMNT Papercraft that will be included with each TMNT Box. The first turtle they sent was Michelangelo, and this month brings us Donatello. Although it’s not exactly the most incredible thing you’ll ever find in a subscription box, it is a nice little addition to the other items included. The paper used for these activities is actually very high quality, ensuring that your figures will last for at least a little while. The only question left is which turtle we’ll see next? It’s either going to be Raphael or Leonardo, and eventually we’ll have all four!
Although the items included in this TMNT Box might not appeal to everyone, they are pretty high quality and definitely worth more than the price of the subscription box. That being said, adult fans probably aren’t going to be very interested in the contents of this particular package. These collectibles are definitely aimed at a younger audience, but that’ll work out just fine for all the parents out there! All things told, I was very surprised by the trinkets and curios in this month’s TMNT Box and I appreciated the change of pace.
