Kevin Eastman Just Launched His Own Youtube Channel

It’s not every day that we get to hear the thoughts of TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman, but that might change very soon. While perusing his website, I recently discovered that he has created his own Youtube channel with the intent of answering questions from his fans. Although he has only answered two questions so far, it’s entirely possible that we’ll see several more videos like this in the near future. The two questions he tackled were actually pretty interesting, because I’ve heard similar queries from several fans over the years.

In the first video, Eastman addresses a question about the various different interpretations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He comes to the conclusion that he and Peter Laird have both been very fortunate to have a lot control over their own creations. That being said, there is some acknowledgment on his part that it can be very disappointing to see characters portrayed in a manner that the creators did not approve. If possible, the second video might be even more enlightening, as he covers the topic of the fifth turtle that was never fully developed.

Long time fans will remember that Eastman actually came up with a plan to introduce an additional ninja turtle for the fourth Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that never got off the ground. The turtle was going to be named Kirby – in honor of Kevin’s personal hero, Jack Kirby. When asked how this fifth member of the team might have behaved, Kevin admitted that they hadn’t quite gone far enough into development to figure that part out. With that in mind, he actually suggested that it might be a good idea to revisit the concept for a future project. I don’t know about you, but I would love to see Kirby actually join the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

One thing is for sure – Kevin Eastman’s new Youtube channel is already providing some pretty interesting content. Here’s hoping that this project develops into something even bigger and better than what we’ve seen so far. If you want to see more videos like these, we highly recommend subscribing to Kevin Eastman Studios on Youtube and leaving a comment to let him know that you’re enjoying the show.

Are you excited to see that Kevin Eastman has created his own Youtube channel? Will you be subscribing to see more videos from the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Share your thoughts and plans either in the comments below or on Facebook/Twitter.

My name is Justin Wren and I love to write about the TMNT! I've been a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan since the late 80's. Back then, I would watch the original animated series and play with the Playmates toys all the time. I have been following the boys ever since I was a kid, and I'm very happy to see them back in the limelight after all these years. Needless to say, I'm proud to be a member of the team on this awesome TMNT Fan Site!

  • I have mixed feelings on Kevin Eastman. I have huge respect for the guy, since he co-created one of my favorite characters of all-time the TMNT. But, he sold his rights to the property to Peter Laird as their popularity was fading. Why didn’t he stick with the Turtles through the hard times? Why did he all of a sudden come back to the property when they reemerged as a bankable product again? I understand his personal issues with Laird led to the sale, but I personally would not give up my most beloved creations because of a feud? Once again, I respect him, I just have questions with no answers.
