New TMNT Toys On The Way in 2014

by Zach Gasior

In addition to a lot of new toys that are hitting the shelves right now, Playmates recently announced a few more action figures making their way to the lineup in early 2014. For everyone who’s been looking forward to a few more villains to fight, this latest batch should definitely suffice. Featuring three bad guys from the upcoming second season of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this lineup of new figures presented by Toy News International looks like a lot of fun.

New TMNT Toys Mutagen Man

First off, they announced the newest Mutagen Man figure which looks quite different from the original character. That being said, it would seem that they may have maintained at least one aspect of the toy that originally inspired it, as the center of the action figure appears to be a globe of mutagen ooze. For those who remember, they did something very similar for the original action figure of Mutagen Man. As a fan, I have to say that I’m very happy that Playmates has chosen to go back to the well and re-create some of their most popular products from the 80’s and 90’s.

Next up, we’ve got the Squirrelanoid, which may just be the largest TMNT action figure yet to make its way to market. Towering over even the Mutagen Man toy, this terrifying character looks like it’s ready to cause the Turtles a lot of trouble! There’s no telling on how many points of articulation this large, lanky figure will have, but it’s definitely got the design to be able to accommodate a bit more action. If your Ninja Turtles are getting a little tired of fighting off the Shredder, this Squirrelanoid action figure definitely looks to be a formidable opponent.

Last but not least, the Kirby Bat action figure is set to fly high over everyone. This abomination of the mutagen looks a tad more disgusting than his counterparts, with a green vein popping out of his head. Obviously, his wing span is rather large and he looks as though he could become a pesky villain for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to fight off.

All in all, these are some pretty awesome new TMNT toys to look forward to. Also planned for release in 2014 are the Classic Collection Bebop and Rocksteady, their designs finally completed. What do you think? Are you looking forward to the release of these new Ninja Turtles action figures? Let us know in the comments below. Personally, I just want to get my hands on some of the toys hitting the shelves now. How could anyone say no to a 7-pack of Mousers and these adorable Ninjas in Training figures?

Is it just me or have they not made a Karai action figure and why is that?

They haven’t released one from this series (unless you count the little LEGO one with the bike), which is kinda ticking me off since they’ve already released figures of characters that came after her. So far, there’s a Karai toy from the 2003 television series and one from the 2007 movie. There’s supposed to be one from this series coming in 2015 (in her snake form) but so far I’ve only seen mock-ups.

I believe they said it depends on the demand on the 4 turtles and Bebop and Rocksteady. So a wait and see approach…
